Julie is just SO rude. I realize she is part owner but they need to move her out of that customer service position. She is pissing off customer left and right.

And poof, it's gone and Julie's response never exhisted!

Looks like PTI deleted the post about the Lace Impression Die. If I was the original poster I would be pissed. The takeaway is that Julie gets to be a raving bitch and then PTI will just sweep it under the zen desk rug. Nice job PTI.

15:26 No doubt Nichole just lets Julie handle stuff because if anyone else does Julie has a melt down on them. I live this type of stuff everyday at my job. All I can do is walk a way when my boss starts her stupid crap. (and it is truly just like the Julie)

Lace Impressions...

Postby beadgal29 » Thu Jul 19, 2012 9:44 pm
Grrrr. I am having SO much trouble with my Lace Impressions cover plate. I just received it today with my release order, and I can't seem to get it to cut through....at all. It cuts maybe 1/2 inch (or less) on either side of the long sides, but 90% of won't cut through. I've used idk how many different sandwiches in the Cuttlebug with my metal shim and several card stock shims, and it still won't cut all the way through. Maybe I have a dud? It's really annoying me.

Has anyone had any trouble with their Lace Impressions cover plate?

When Nichole introduced it she mentioned that the first or second pass wouldn't make the plate cut all the way through. In order to get the plate to cut out all of the little bits I think it's supposed to be run several times, but that's just my vague recollection. If you're not running it through multiple times that might be your issue. I'll see if I can find the introductory post for you. Hope that helps!

ETA: Here's the Introductory Post. It mentions one pass for texture and multiple passes for actual cutting. If you're already doing that you may need more shims. Good luck!

We had a relative who would make the evidence of problems disappear and then act like it never happened. Oh, Julie, it does not work.

I've run it through at least a dozen times, all with the metal shim and multiple cardstock shims, which is why I'm wondering if it's defective. I figured it would be like my other cover plates, but the huge center section isn't even close to cutting through. I'm afraid if I put ANOTHER shim in, it won't go through/it will warp my plate. I've also tried it with new plates and old plates... it doesn't seem to make a difference. :(

I'm sorry you are having so much trouble using this particular plate. This particular tool was intended to be used more as an impression plate, with the ability to cut with some extra steps. It sounds like the center of the die isn't receiving adequate pressure, which could have to do with the die or your machine. One thing you can try is placing a few strips of masking tape just in the middle back of the die. Just that little bit of extra support in the center only can usually remedy the problem of the centers not cutting. If you prefer, you can also file a help ticket with customer service and see about a refund or exchange.

Thank you for the tips, Nichole. I will try adding some masking tape to the back of my die. I've not had any other problems with dies of this size not cutting all the way through, particularly when using my metal shim, so I don't think my machine is the problem... but I'm no Cuttlebug engineer or anything. If it still doesn't work with the masking tape, I probably will ask for an exchange. I appreciate both of your answers! Thank you.

Nichole, I tried starting a ticket at the help desk, but received this response:

Hi there,

I am very sorry that you misunderstood the use of the Lace Impressions Die. It does eventually cut, as I have tested many of them for the ability to cut out all of the pieces. I also have an old Cuttlebug and it works as long as it is shimmed properly. The original intent of the die was not to cut, hence the name, Lace Impressions Die. When Nichole designed it, she never in her right mind believed anyone would want to spend the approximately 20-25 minutes it takes to push out all of the little pieces. Nonetheless, she realized that the die would cut through with several (sometimes more) passes through the die cut machine, so she did call it a die. I have found the metal shim to be the best device to use with this die if you want it to cut. With that said, it does take a bit of work to get the right amount of shims so that it cuts. I hope that helps! If you have any additional questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Thanks and have a fantastic day!!

Take care,

I've tried every sandwich I can think of, I've tried the masking tape, I've tried rotating it 90 degrees, I've tried multiple shims, always using my metal shim... it doesn't seem to make a difference. Am I being told that I'm out of luck? I guess I am having trouble understanding why I'm being told that the Lace Impressions DIE is actually an impression plate, even though you and the DT have showcased it used as a die. I have no problem running my cover plate through multiple times (I've done so at least 15 times), not to mention spending the additional 20-25 minutes punching out all of the holes, as the whole reason I wanted it was because I wanted to use it as a DIE.... I don't appreciate the disrespectful implications in Julie's note. All I want is to return the die. I am happy to take store credit; even some acknowledgement of the fact that I have a legitimate claim would be nice.

If I remember correctly, it was first introduced as a die and carries the name "die" leading people to believe it might be a die.

I agree. Not much customer service. It's short of calling the purchaser an idiot (i.e. no one in their right mind would try to cut out the little pieces).

Nichole's post word for word "To achieve this, I taped the cardstock to the die and ran it through my machine four times. I opted to poke out all of the openings, but you can pick and choose what you want to remove to create different design features." Apparently Nichole was out of her mind when she wrote this... I really think Julie does far more damage to this company than any good. Who "in their right mind" would think that is an appropriate response to a customer??? Seriously!

I agree with everything you ladies have said.... I was more than a little upset when I received this response this morning, not to mention the fact that this supposedly "resolved" my CS claim. They need to get a different customer service person... Each and every customer is valuable, and, if I didn't love PTI's products so much, this would be enough to make me think twice about ordering again.

I hope Nichole has Some kind of response...

new idea for a PTI sentiment for Halloween.

Buyer Beware

Well the little card that comes with orders says they hope to surpass your expectations in CS.

They've sure surpassed mine! I never thought any company could do this badly at it.

17:02 - poor Emily .. 'I hope Nichole has Some kind of response...'

i guess she got one.

it looks a lot like shut up we don't care from where i'm sitting.

Someone post a link to this smack blog on the PTI forum, I dare you!

Anonymous said...

17:41 - why? the link will get deleted the poster will get a warning and the forum sheeple will see the poster as a hater.

i don't see a win.

That's funny 17:26! Made me lol!

I'm still buying this month for sure.. I am so much trouble with more than $200 in my list now and I want to see the full reveal before deciding on any of the Halloween sets. Pumpkin die cuts are cute but the price tag is a let down.

I agree with 17:49..

Anonymous said...

I was also considering shopping this month, my wishlist would easily top $200 too.

But I can't justify it now. I feel too angry...

Thank you Julie for helping me keep my wallet shut. Julie you are such an ass, and sausage fingers is a bitch.

Anonymous said...

Rick, even if you deleted the thread, either you or Nichole should be in touch with beadgal to try to undo the damage that Julie did.

18:30 don't you think you're whistling into the wind?

Ya, you are probably right. :-(

The Halloween sets are cute but I can't get excited about making crafts that will not be appreciated by sugar high kids. Who would I send a happy halloween card to? My MIL? Cousins?

Question:
If you're still spending scads of money at PTI, why are you here?
Seriously, I want to know how your purchasing habits are going to send a message to PTI that you want them to change?
Enlighten me please, I don't understand!

Anonymous said...

Having trouble logging into the forum again; can't even get to the webpage (connection timing out). Anyone else experiencing this?

Why shouldn't we be here? I say "we" because I don't think I'm the only one buying and reading/posting here.

For me, I'm addicted to this blog. It's not boring that's for sure. I like to read the good and bad side of PTI (or anything else that pops in) so, if I buy from PTI I can't post anymore? Sad face.. But I have an opinion too... No matter how low/lame some might think it to be.

Don't flame.. Just answering 18:51.

anybody know how long it takes Impress to restock their Fresh Inks? Several of their colors that are supposed to be good matches for PTI are sold out: (sorry, mango, strawberry and pool are temporarily sold out)

Anxious for another sale from them as I'm ready to order. Time to branch out.

Anonymous said...

19:06 waiting for an Impress sale too.
Missed out on the last one (25% too)
Maybe they'll have a sale on thanksgiving?

I've finally broken into my first Impress order and I am impressed. Great coverage. Juicy pads. Brilliant colors. I. Am. In. LOVE! Thanks enablers for the coupon code. I'm one happy camper. Oh and they look great on the Sweet Life roses. Yeah, I smack and bought recently. :P
