Space! Having a good weekend smackers?

Lol at Nichole Heady turning off her comments on her blog. Anyone care to elaborate what happened that caused it?

Also, welcome to all new Papertrey Ink smackers, remember to tell your friends about this place. I can't believe we already have over 20k page views!  :o

From Ted:
I'm not seeing how this new website has improved the facet of this process.

My order shows "Fully shipped". I have no idea what that means.

It seems it's a lot to ask for some communication from the owners.

If only they would consider the fact that the more communication they offer, the more likely they can extinguish fires of frustration. Before this new website, at least we received emails with tracking information. Correction: SOME customers did. Some didn't and their package just arrived. The haphazardness of this system really can take the wind out of our sails.

Wasn't this new website supposed to address some of those issues?

There's little I know. However, I do know this: if my package takes longer than ten days to come to the West Coast of California, this will be my last order with Papertrey Ink.

Anonymous said...

30 Minutes later from Ted - changing his story:

I guess my frustration is two-point:

1. I end up getting more information from my fellow customers than from the company, too often than not.
2. There were way too many problems (in my opinion) with the new website. Now, I'm not an e-business owner, but I just wonder why these things can't be tested BEFOREHAND. Or, if they ARE tested, why a) are we not informed (again... lack of communication) and 2) why would there still be that many problems? (easily fixable problems - Nichole shouldn't have to be here handling AS MANY fires with solutions such as: "We haven't put up images yet for the inks...they'll be on here soon." That's akin to having a sale at Best Buy for the latest DVD movie and people rushing in to hear the manager: "We haven't shelved the movies yet...stick around. They'll be on the shelves soon.")
3. The new website (with all its evident lack of preparation) going live a few days before a MAJOR release (an anniversary release).

I think that's more than two points...but it's still early here and I'm tired.

I probably overreacted. I hope to be a life-long PTI customer... it just seems harder and harder to keep that mindset (just speaking for myself. )

http://forum.papertreyink.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=30773

Is she for real? A blog hop in honor of these ladies AFTER this epic fail of a website rollout? Perhaps if NH & the Heskamps were more on the ball pre-release, this idiotic hop wouldn't be necessary. As for Jenn, no offense but her new position is a joke. Customers still know very little that they need to know. Emails & questions forwarded to CS seem to take longer now. And the website still isn't functioning efficiently. When they finally get the PTI house in order. I'm not spending another cent there until I'm guaranteed a smooth and easy transaction.

Anonymous said...

Sometimes he really pisses me off! I think he creates more drama on the forums than any smacker or rainbows and unicorn lover ever could! Say what you think, but have the guts to stand behind what you say! This is not the first time we've heard he is never ordering again. It wasn't even a week ago that he was defending PTI like it was his own child! In his mind, PTI is a great company, as long as their issues only effect other people, not him. What a hypocrite!!

Anonymous said...

Ted really needs to up his meds. These mood swings are giving me whiplash.

Anonymous said...

"Patience is a virtue." Where have I heard that before?

Anonymous said...

From the last thread. Someone mentioned Niki Estes is no longer with WMS. Looks like WMS deleted her designer gallery too.

Someone replied that there was no drama with Niki leaving. But usually when designers step down on good terms, they make an announcement of some kind. Silence from her. So makes you wonder?

Girl in Green said...

I thought Ted was a PTI defender. What's with the frustration? LOL.

Anonymous said...

Even defenders get tired of the PTI crap it seems. For months now, Ted has been on SCS asking about other stamping companies.

Anonymous said...

So what were the comments on Nichole's blog that she decided to make her posts comment-free? Who saw them?

Anonymous said...

@9:46, I didn't know WMS deleted her gallery!!!
Claire is known for being super nice to her DT (and for fantastic customer service) so maybe something on Niki's end?
This would be the 2nd time Niki is "removed" from a DT.

Anonymous said...

I didn't see the comments on NH's blog before she shut them off. My guess is they were complaints about the website.

And we can't have those, can we?

Anonymous said...

Yes, what kind of comments were those?

Anonymous said...

Honestly, I feel bad for Nichole that she had to turn off her comments. I mean what kind of crap comments are you ladies leaving her?

I can understand coming here to vent about a shitty website roll out or ridiculously late shipping, etc. But smacking Nichole on her own blog? That is low. I mean, we all used to be PTI fans, right? I know I was and still am, I just won't buy anything until they get their shit together.

But I wouldn't leave nasty comments on Nichole's blog. Grow up ladies.

Anonymous said...

Er, unclench.

I don't see a post from any of us here that states that we posted on Nichole's blog, we are just commenting that 'some people' did make comments and then the comments were switched off.

I suggest that you pay better attention before delivering your handslap.

Anonymous said...

17:01 - Why would you think/assume it was someone from here?? I don't know what was written and if someone posted their frustration - why not? You would think she would talk about the website and address some of the glaringly obvious problems that's going on.

She is "the face" of that company isn't she? At one point, the gallery was gone from the forum. The forum was down. Where would a customer go to get answers? To Nichole's blog!!

Anonymous said...

And stop using "ladies" in that tone. So condescending. I think your comment is probably one of the ruder ones I've read on this site. That's ironic isn't it when you think you are being the righteous one.

Anonymous said...

@17:01 - Yeah, WTF? Why would you assume that the people that read here are the culprits?

I personally don't know if anyone from here posted comments on her blog, but I know that I did not. I posted my frustrations on the forum, where I belive they belong. I would not have thought to put them on NH's blog.

Stop being a catty bitch.

Anonymous said...

What's up with Ted? Funny.

Anonymous said...

Post of the frickin' year: where are the tip sheets and why aren't they available online? Discuss.

Anonymous said...

I think at WMS if a person is no longer on the DT, then their gallery goes to the "Friends of WMS Gallery". That's where Carly Robertson's went when she left the DT. It doesn't get deleted all together, just moved. Maybe Claire is saving her announcement when the DT projects start? I can't imagine anyone leaving her team on bad terms. Lisa From Craft's Meow was on the WMS DT and went and started her own stamp company, and Claire participated on her first blog hop to help her advertise!!!

Anonymous said...

Re: Tip Sheets Missing

Given all of the things that are missing from the new website, I'm not surprised. This is just one in a long list: tip sheets, matching stamp/die links, ALL same color items grouped together, ALL ink pad formats in one single place, etc. It's like they took 2 steps backwards when they decided to take 1 step forward.

I think trying to make sense of this website cluster is a big waste of time...

Anonymous said...

@19:11.. Thanks for the info! Claire is the example of a wonderful stamp company owner, I wish I was that talented to be in her DT!
I know for sure I'll miss Niki's WMS cards, especially now that she's in that Project Life trend (ugh) and it's all about week this, week that; sigh...

Anonymous said...

NH didn't do her traditional day after post and didn't remove all the release stuff (like she normally does, right?) Would love to be a fly on the wall at Maison Stamp. Bet some fireworks are flying at PTI hq.

Anonymous said...

and what is with these little twines of spool? If I can't mail it - I'm not interested.

Anonymous said...

I think NH stopped doing her day after release posts when they changed to the new release format (on the 15th at 7:00 pm EST). She posted links to all the DT projects before the release per request.

What I find particularly interesting is that a week plus after the website launch and there are very few fixes in place. It seems they did enough to get orders processed (I'm SURE their biggest concern) but little to make it a functional site.

Anonymous said...

International here - just received order from Clear and Simply stamps with a free copy of Papercrafts mag. Arrived in 14 days, reasonable shipping.
THAT's service - and a nice gesture.

The need to shop PTI has diminished rapidly.
Just waiting for their site to actually work so I can cash in my reward points then say bye bye.

Anonymous said...

I've tried to keep supporting them. I WANT so much for them to get their act together and succeed. I just can't believe that anyone behind the scenes thought that this website was an improvement. THERE WAS REALLY NOTHING WRONG WITH THE OLD SITE imo - adding a wishlist would have been nice, maybe the search by color feature too. But seriously, a storefront where you SELL gift certificates but have NO PROCESS for them to be redeemed, or emailed to the recipient?? How the hell does THAT "slip through the cracks"??

I ordered on release night without much trouble, but I still don't have an email confirmation, and I have no idea whether to expect a shipping notice. I fear that the shipping time is going to be FAR worse than usual too, given the number of problems with hundreds of orders...

Anonymous said...

thanks 2:47!

Anonymous said...

I had to lol at the post about using a .99 perforator to mimic the zipper die. I just might try that since I have no idea when my dies will arrive. Although I do like the look of the zipper die.

I want to try it as a gift card holder, but I'm worried the card will get tossed, haha!

Anonymous said...

5:00 - I don't understand how this website got out. They are either a) stupid b) cheap or c) broke if they can't put out a few sheckles to hire a couple experienced programmers and get these problems fixed.

Anonymous said...

In case he deletes it:

by Ted » Mon Feb 20, 2012 1:29 am

Sheryl, let's hope your assumption is not correct.

974 emails waiting for answers.

Let's say an email (on average -- some will take longer, some shorter) takes 15 minutes to research and respond.

14,610 minutes... divided by 60.... 243.5 hours.

We won't divide that by two...because Jenn (although she technically doesn't have to...) is splitting her time between here and the emails... so we'll divide that by 1.5. So that's (on average) 162.3 hours each person.

And (for the sake of argument)... we'll say they each work an eight-hour day. 162.3 divided by 8 = 20.3..let's round that to 20.

It will take each of them 20 business days JUST to answer emails. (again, on average... some emails will take shorter time than 15 minutes...but I am also including research... AKA asking Julie and/or Nichole how to handle a particular case).

Of course, if Julie is also working on emails, that may bring it down to 17 business days, give or take a day.

Even at a VERY generous 15 business days to answer emails, we're not taking into account that new emails aren't coming in AS they are answering these emails.

So, PTI PTB...can you do the math with us? You NEED more manpower. Dave and/or Jenn can't handle this on their own... not in a reasonable amount of time. I adore Jenn...part of it being that she is a SAINT for dealing with this. I certainly don't have the heart to put up with what she has to put up with.

And if it IS a case of profit (AKA the "bottom dollar")...then do some profit projections. If you lose three customers out of frustration for every one successful email...

I know you have your loyal customers here...and your cheerleaders...and bless their hearts for that. And I also know it's "just stamps"...it's not life or death. I get that. But there's also a principle to consider. The principle of you WANTING to treat your customers well enough to let them know they ARE valued. Actions speak SO much louder than words. Yes, we've read Nichole and Jenn coming here telling us how valuable we are to you. But that's like walking into a gallery and waiting for hours to purchase a painting and being told by the cashier and artist that we're valuable.

I'm angry...but really not with PTI. They are running their business the way they want. It's their call. I'm angry with myself... for being SO incredibly stupid for sticking around this long (going on 2.5 years). However, I'm proud of myself for finding other companies. I won't mention their names out of respect for Jenn and the forum policies. But when a company farther than Cincinnati is able to get me a package within three business days? Well, THAT makes me feel valued.

I'm making a decision to shop with PTI only for their color collection (paper, ribbon, ink)...only because I like the quality. I'll go elsewhere for stamps. This way I can purchase during NON-release time and only have to wait ONE week *scoff* to get my order. And this is only until I find a company with the same quality paper and color choices (if you know of such a company that has good service, please PM me...thanks).

It's obvious my words on this forum are only whispering to the owners.

Let me see if my wallet can speak any louder.

Anonymous said...

It's 8:44...

I don't beleive Ted has the balls to let his wallet do the talking! He's made this threat before and then Nichole sends him a gift and he's back on the PTI ass kissing train!

Anonymous said...

Actually I think Ted's analysis of the time line to answer emails is rather funny/clever. Possibly, unfortunately, close to the truth too.

But he flip-flops so much and doubt whether he would leave PTI.

Anonymous said...

What's the "PTI PTB"?

I guess, even for Ted, carrying his shiny PTI defending shield was getting a bit too much.

Anonymous said...

WOW! Did Ted really post that? Good for him. Whether or not he sticks with the decision who cares. It was well written and coming from such a huge cheerleader should carry some weight to Heifer and company.

Anonymous said...

Ted has posted similar things many times. He's threatened before with, "This month my wallet will do the talking."
Then they released something that he really liked and he ordered not once, but twice.

This is why I can't stand him on the forum. He says that, then he orders, then he demands us to be patient, then he isn't patient, then he says he'll never order again. Then he chastises us for not being patient.

He said it yesterday and backpedaled 30 minutes later.

He needs some serious medication.

Anonymous said...

Thanks 10:51

Anonymous said...

Despite all your good math, Ted, what PTI needed to do was stop the release until the website was up and running properly. They didn't even do a test order to see what message would be sent out or how they would update order status or how gift certificates would be redeemed. And one person working on a website? Stupidity to the nth degree.

Now we all know PTI ownership greed would never permit them to do such a thing but it would have prevented the snowball cluster they are in today.

And I continue to hold NH 1/3 responsible for the mess. If she gets the paycheck, she gets the responsibility. You just can't separate the two.

Anonymous said...

I think Ted can come off so intelligent sometimes but he disappoints me because he has no spine whatsoever. Seriously there is something wrong with him. Not to make light because I do believe in therapy and medicating.. but he really needs it. Is what he has bi-polar? (going to google bi-polar)

Anonymous said...

I also am pulling for PTI and love their products. I love their clean and modern stamp sets ... they have the more vintagey old fashioned ones too but I have found very few companies that make clear stamps that are of the gorgeous design that PTI sets are. However, I do agree that the website was launched before it was ready. I think that the only reason they launched it so quickly was because they had promised that the reward points would be redeemable as of 02/15/12 and they could not do this on the old website. I don't know what would've been worse - another scandal with anniversary set issues or a website launched too early. Either way, people are angry and frustrated ... a no win situation.

Anonymous said...

Bi polar - periods of mania (incredible highs) and depression (big lows.

Who knows if anyone has bipolar unless they are diagnosed. I don't specualation is in anyone's best interests. Everyone is allowed to express their opinion and to change their mind about what they said, if they so desire.

Anonymous said...

---- wtf?

Anonymous said...

^^18:47 - It wouldn't have been a no-win situation if they had:

(A) a more reliable person IN the warehouse handling the anniversary sets instead of Julie or

(B) a reliable IT team who designs AND TESTS new websites BEFORE their initial launch.

If Julie, Jane, and Nichole had insisted on point B, they wouldn't be under fire now for this ginormous mess of their own creation. They get no sympathy from me because if the website they paid for worked efficiently from the get-go, PTI would've been taking steps towards improving their reception. The PTI Three have made a poor, short-sighted decision that they have to live with.

Anonymous said...

18:47 I agree with you because I really love their designs but so much of this could have been so easily avoided had they taken the proper steps to hire an experienced web programmer and tested tested tested. Did they actually place an order? Did they try to order multiple paper packs and see how annoying it is? Did they browse the stamp sets and see how it annoying it is to try to guess what page sentiments or backgrounds might be on? The organization of the site is terrible, but the technical flaws are inexcusable. I haven't heard a peep from the three amigos, which is starting to piss me off more than anything. Only dumb ole Jennifer Ellefson who has no power and no more knowledge than the rest of us.

Anonymous said...

Well, they have made a few (very few) strides in the new website. But I'm pissed that my cart is still dumping while I'm in the midst of adding to it. I'm also pissed that we are almost a week out from the release and no one in Cincinnati is communicating with the Communications Director so she can communicate with the masses. But that shouldn't surprise me. That Heskamp crew sucks big donkey ones.

Anonymous said...

Has Jenn answered one question? I keep reading about her list or that she's checking but I haven't seen one solid answer. Haven't noticed any changes myself, what's different 7:17?

Anonymous said...

You guys keep saying you can't quit PTI because of their clean fresh designs.

I respectfully beg to differ and here is my proof: Friendship jar and fillers are not modern. They are country. Leaves and flowers and butterflies? House stamps, chairs, tags, labels, branches, tons of sentiment stamps...friends, these are not new, not ground breaking concepts. Practically every stamp company has a version of all of these stamps.

Its not the stamps. It's the way Nichole USES THEM (or possibly others in the DT) that get you thinking the stamps are also fresh and modern.

I (and you) can get the same result with a similar stamp from another company. Well, if I had an inspiration photo to copy of course. My brain just doesn't come up with the fabulous card designs that Nichole does.

My pinterest boards are chock full of nichole's cards. Is my craft drawer filled to the brim with PTI stamps? No. I already have a $hit load of SU stamps that can get me from point A to point B Nichole style. Yes, looking at her cards helps me to be a better stamper, but I don't need her stamps to do it. And you don't either.

So while you are out browsing Gina K, WMS, MFT or whatever, realize that you can work magic with any flower stamp, or build a background with any leaf stamp. If fresh and clean is your style then you can do it with any brand stamp. I've seen some of PTI's shittiest stamps turn to gold in Nichole's cards. It's not the stamp - it's the stamper!!!!

Anonymous said...

^^^^ me again.

now I kind of want to start a PTI knock-off blog and put one of nichole's cards up and duplicate it with my own stamp stash to show it can be done.

i'm sure there would be some screaming though.

Anonymous said...

11:41, I totally agree with everything you've said! I'm done purchasing from them because of their lousy business practices, but I'll continue to use their ideas with other companies stamps!

Anonymous said...

I think what people mean by "modern" is the simple line design of the images. Not like those "old" stamps that had a lot of shading and detail. I can't do cling or rubber anymore, so the clear stamp companies are a big draw for me, too! Sometimes Nichole just draws things up better. I've seem some other jar stamps, but I just like the shape of hers. I also fell in love with their cardstock, so that had me following PTI more so than other companies in the beginning. I LOVE my WMS stamps and I see some from Verve that I really like. A Muse Studio has some great, simple line art...but now they are cling. Am I making any sense here?

11:41, you are exactly right. And I need to read your post every time I get weak and want to order from PTI. Note to self: Use NH's sketches, use her colors, use her ideas but don't buy from her.

Anonymous said...

I agree 15:22. I couldn't watch. Really, we need to see E.V.E.R.Y. second of you glittering buttons? It isn't really difficult to figure out. Apply adhesive/glue (hell, anything sticky) and dump on the glitter. I quit watching, didn't get past the glittering (and I LOVE glitter..lol)

Anonymous said...

So so true....nh and co could make a dollar bin stamp look amazing....that's why the peeks are so, meh.

I do love the colors, and I like the matching dies some of the time.

It's funny though, when the last challenge was to DIY an interactive card before the product went on sale, I had to lol to myself - they pretty much demonstrated that none of it is needed.

Anonymous said...

Anyone else notice how silent the DT blogs have been since the release? I know that they have to be wiped out from the release posts, but good grief -- crickets are chirping on the design team's blogs. And none of them have been posting in the public parts of the forum.

I wonder if any of them are embarrassed by PTI's horrendous service. I guess none of them have to deal with the customer service issues the regular folks do!

Any smackers have any inside info on the DT's thought on PTI's lack of customer service these days?

Anonymous said...

11:41 -- You have some REALLY good points and probably explain why I end up with some of PTI's stamps and then really don't like the stamps when it comes time for me to use them!

I would have been PISSED if I had been a part of that share. Now she's promised to order on the 24th but has announced that because of payment problems she won't be ordering until the 27th. Wonder what her next excuse will be? What a scam artist!

AerynK Designs said...

11:41 - I agree with you to a point. I think the big reason I got into PTI was because I *didn't* have any of these kinds of stamps. I didn't have *any* stamps. I don't like companies like SU and CTMH with reps and whatnot, and I'd never been into stamping before either.

When I got into Copics I needed stamps I could colour and the open outlines of the PTI stamps was a big draw. Let alone that I had no ribbon, no buttons, and no high quality paper. Now that I have a decent amount of those things, and supporting images from other companies (I'm ADHD, I jump around a lot) I'm being pickier.

I DO find myself saying "I have something like that already" with a lot of things, PTI very much included. But the mark of a good DT *is* that they can sell you things you wouldn't normally consider. That's not rocket surgery, that's just a fact of life. Advertisers have award ceremonies for people that are good at it.

PTI email to all customers:

All of us at Papertrey Ink would like to thank you for the unprecedented support that you have shown during our
5th Anniversary Celebrations.

We understand that our new website had some challenging moments for some and that you may have sent emails to Customer Service to find some answers. We are currently experiencing a very high volume of emails, and Dave and Jennifer are working to answer your emails as quickly as possible. We would like you to be aware that there is a significant backlog. You will receive an answer, but in the meantime, here are some answers to a lot of the questions we're seeing (certainly not all, which is why we are still sending individual responses). Some of this may be repeated information from our forum, but we know that not everyone has seen it.

If you are concerned that your order confirmation only reflected a discount of $5, please rest assured that all cases we are seeing show that it was actually rung through on your method of payment at 5% (despite what the order confirmation reflected). If for whatever reason this is not the case with your order, we will do everything we can to make sure it gets corrected and that you are charged the accurate, discounted price. Your discount will be 5% if you ordered in the time period up from 2/15, 10pm EST to 2/16, 3am EST.

If you're not sure your order went through, you can check your order history. If you have not yet created a new account since the new website went up, please do so by clicking on Customer Service, then on Create A New Account and register using the email address you use to order. If you have already set up your account on the new website but are locked out, you can also attempt to reset your password (if you have not been able to access your order history) by following the steps for creating a new account. If this doesn't work, we will pass along your information to the IT person for a true reset with him.

If you have an order number, then your order went through.

If you entered 24 points to be redeemed for your anniversary set (or 48, etc.), we will work on getting that corrected. You have until February 14, 2013 to redeem points to obtain the anniversary set.

If you are looking for the forum link, you can find it under
THIS & THAT on the home page.

If you are wondering about product re-stocking, a general guideline is that we expect stamps back in stock within two weeks, dies within three.

We can't thank you enough for celebrating this milestone with us, and please know that all of us at Papertrey Ink are working very hard behind the scenes to get you both your orders and your answers as quickly as we can. Thank you for your patience during this new site launch.

Text from PTI email I just received...

Thank you!

I would have thought an apology was in order for the cluster of a website rollout/release.

to reply to the post way up there .. yes, some of their stamps are not clean and modern - the jar stamps, the handmade sets etc. but PTI also does offer some more modern clean looking stamps with fresh fonts. those are the ones i can't stop looking at ... if i could find another company that had those with good international shipping, i'd check it out! wplus9 has some but they are similar to pti sets i own ...

Anonymous said...

thanks for posting the email but I wish they would have emailed to whoever was impacted by the screw up. I'm disappointed that I read it on the smack blog - not a peep from TPTB :(

Just wrote a review of PTI on my blog. I'm done with the company, cardstock and all. I'll just use other things, and they won't get a cent from me.

Do give it a read, maybe some of you might agree with what I have to say. Or not :D just thought I'd share it with some viewers.

^^Well said, Stephinka!

OK - I did it. Confession time. I placed an order with PTI. Second to last. Cursed seed packet die! I've left just enough points to cover the one last thing that I want that is OOS and then its sayonara for good. I feel lighter already.

What's up with Taylored Expressions having a Rosie Posie stamp set? Which is newer? I don't think that any copying was done but odd timing.

Received my PTI order today. Ordered on release night. I'm in the middle so it didn't have that far to go...Stamp sets are still wrapped in damn tissue...wasteful.

Holy crap, did Donna get out the wrong side of the bed this morning? Reviving a thread from over a month ago smacks of desperation!

I agree 13:51. And while I posted on the Stephinka thread, I do think it was rude of Donna to post it. If she (Stephinka) wanted to post it she could have, she has an account.

13:51 - was just coming to post the SAME thing.. shit stirrer extraordinaire. Also - I almost asked her flat out why she felt the need to post the link to Stephinka's blog... especially after the other poster pointed out that Steph did things on her OWN blog and didnt post the link... SHIT STIRRER.

Who wants to go in on a paper share with me?

I have on piece of 12x12 paper that I'm DYING to have, but I can't afford the whole thing.

Looking for 4 people who want a quarter sheet of paper.

Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?

Anonymous said...

I'm in! How much for shipping? How long will we have to wait for the 1/4 sheet?

Anonymous said...

16:44: The paper is 79 cents, so we'll round up to 20 cents each.

Shipping is $5.75 (USPS Priority, bitches) and I'll mail it at the end of the week.

Or maybe next week, 'cause I'm feeling kinda sick. Who knows how long this illness will go on, though, so maybe give me 4 weeks, just to be safe?

Please PayPal $5.95 to me at imdesperatetobeliked@pti.com.

Thanks!

I still can't get over this new website. How can you find anything? Say you want to find dies - but don't know the name of it. You have to scroll through pages and pages? Stamp pad share!

Ill buy a pad, then I'll stamp something with it. Then I'll mail it to the next person on the list.

You stamp something with it - and then send it to the next person...

Anonymous said...

So nothing, absolutely nothing has changed for our international friends with the new website. Other than they now may pay more, can't get tracking info, have no options for shipping, etc.

Who the hell put together the development list for this website? Because they sure put no thought into it. What a bunch of idiots!

And my fav is when Jenn responds to a website question with "IT is working on it." One person not in the organization who is clearly in over his head is "IT".

They deserve to crash and burn just for their sheer stupidity and greed.

Anonymous said...

Oh, and I'll sign up for the "one button in each color" share.

Anonymous said...

You are so right 4.02.
I am international and I wonder how many out there like me are waiting for their stupid web site to work properly, cash in our rewards, and walk away.
A couple of places I order from in UK, and Ireland, offer free world-wide shipping, and takes 10 days max to get to me.
Why then would one bother with PTI and all the drama.
And that forum clique - like a bunch of lions on the prowl just waiting to pounce on someone who may voice a concern about PTI CS, shipping, etc.
Looking forward to moving on.

Anonymous said...

^^ Actually lions are rather elegant, perhaps I should have said "a bunch of hyenas".

Anonymous said...

The new site launch debacle is the perfect illustration of PTI's mentality.

The changes were purely aesthetic. No changes were made to the root problems the old site had, namely:

1. Ease of navigation; I think we can all agree that the new site is in no way easier to navigate than the old.

2. Shipping options are still limited & insanely expensive for out international friends.

3. Customer service response times still suck and c/s at PTI is as ineffectual as ever.

I don't think any aspect of the new site can be considered a success on the customer's end. The only real success here was PTI's. Many stamp sets & dies from the new release sold out even with all the release issues.

Sadly, PTI will be just fine without us.

Anonymous said...

I think navigation is worse. I wanted to browse the sentiments sets, there is no way to just click the category like on the old site. You have to go through page by page - I didn't get to sentiments until page 70. When I found what I wanted, and clicked the back button, I had to start all over. AAAAHHHH

Anonymous said...

Hey, 4:56, who offers free world-wide shipping? Please share!

I looked around at Taylored Expressions a little after somebody mentioned the Rosey-Posie stamp set. Taylor's dies seem expensive to me, but some of her stamp sets are okay (but not the cupcake ones, I am completely sick of those things).

Anonymous said...

I agree 6:59, and in some cases, the changes made things worse.

Tip sheets are gone. Wouldn't those ideas help sell more sets?

Coordinating items not shown. This is being updated with some items, but not all. Again, more sales if shown.

No information about the rewards program. Earning, usage, anything.

Have you clicked on the About Us link? It is at the bottom of each page. It should have been no work at all to copy & paste from the old site, but it says This is About Us

Rather appropriate, because it does seem to be All About Them.

Anonymous said...

I like Taylored expressions to for certain things

Paper Packs and embelishments, adhesive, storage and calendar products
She offers first class to Canada ( not only priority!!)
And her dies have that positioner thing- stamp first , position die and cut

But her stamps are way to cutesy for me

Anonymous said...

THANK GOODNESS.......why didn't anyone tell me PTI SMACK 3 was born?

Anonymous said...

It was mentioned on someone's blog that this should be posted here:

I have been holding onto this since 2009, but my experience with one of the owners ‘Julie’ was nothing short of disgusting..

i asked for a copy of an invoice as my purchase was stuck in customs, and received NO REPLY after email, after email. I eventually (in desperation) called International Directory Inquiries asking for a phone number for PTI. They had one and asked if I wanted to be connected? I jumped at the chance and it wasn’t until I was put through that I realized that I had been connected to Nichole Heady’s private residence at (wait for it) 6 O’CLOCK IN THE MORNING. I was horrified!!!

I then received an email from Julie saying that she and Nichole felt VERY VIOLATED, because I had called at 6am and (I quote) “As it doesn’t seem that we are able to ship to you without problems, it may be best if you didn’t order from us in the future”. Another interesting point she made, “We do not have a Papertrey Ink phone number because I work another job during the day and cannot answer the phone or supervise anyone else to answer the phone during the day.”…

To say that I was horrified by her LACK of Customer Service would be an understatement.. I would NEVER call someone as their private residence and NEVER at 6am in the morning. If I had the chance to do the math and realize the time difference I never would have called.

However that is all by the by, because I MADE A MISTAKE, but was treated like a parasite for having the audacity to try and contact Customer Service.

Anonymous said...

comments have been enabled on Nichole's blog again.

Anonymous said...

Um, so the lesson learned by this post is - post your issues directly to the PTI forum because you'll hear back faster there than from CS email? Is this seriously the message PTI wants to send to everyone? Doesn't that make the forum a complaint board again?

http://forum.papertreyink.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=31204

Anonymous said...

Can I ask a question of our international friends?

What shipping rate do you consider appropriate for International shipping?

I own an online store, and have a flat rate for US, another flat rate for Canada, and another for international orders.

I would say maybe 2 out of 10 orders I ship internationally have actual shipping cost that is less than my flat rate we charge.

My last order had 2 Simple Stories collection kits shipped to Australia and it cost me $36 to ship with Priority Mail. It sounds expensive, but that's what I have to pay. If I go first class, I would have to buy shipping supplies, plus there is no delivery confirmation number, etc. PLUS it takes longer for you to get.

I know international shipping is expensive...but it's not like I'm out to make money on my shipping charges. :(

Anonymous said...

God, they'll never get it! Who CARES how many emails you get a minute, if you can't handle it - then freaking hire more people for crying out loud.

Are we supposed to be sympathetic? The only thing I can about is my order and when it will. You all are capable of charging my card in seconds, do me a courtesy and stop being so damn patronizing.

Anonymous said...

I hope this omission on the new site is unintentional. Like most sites, there is an About Us link at the bottom of each page. They could have quickly copied and pasted that section from the old site, but instead it says

This is About Us

That about sums it up.

Anonymous said...

Hi to the above poster who ask about international shipping prices.
I try not to buy cardstock or anything 12x12 because the postage goes up quick because of the size and weight. Different story for stamps and dies - I think $13.50 is a standard price from most places on those depending on the size of the order. When I used to order a lot of scrapbooking stuff the place where I bought from sent it in a flat rate box and I she told me if I could fit more etc. (and also hold an order and add more to it over a few weeks and then send it all in one box). I didn't mind the postage price of the flat rate box because it was still much cheaper overall.

Anonymous said...

Looks like several are announcing they are leaving the forums now. Sad state of affairs. I feel for those who feel they are being forced out due to blog entries.

Anonymous said...

To the shipping lady..you really have to research shipping options on the USPS site yourself to learn the best way to ship things. I used to ship international all the time without issue.

A few things I can pass on: Never, ever mail UPS or FedEx overseas or Canada; the buyer will end up with huge brokerage fees in addition to any customs. Always use USPS.

A LOT of stuff qualifies for first class which is a ton cheaper and has a much higher weight and size threshold when shipping overseas. Take advantage of it.

Forget about having to have DC on every package, this is a feel good service that doesn't really do anything. If a package goes missing or is misdelivered, there is nothing you can do about it whether it has DC on it or not. You can't blow a whistle and it comes back to where it should be...it's lost, that is all. The PO likely can't find it either so having that DC on it is a kind of magic that the PO is trying to sell you. The customer will prefer BY FAR having the cheaper priced first class shipping option, than having a virtually useless DC and paying through the nose for it. If a package goes astray, it should be a cost of doing business that you replace or refund in the rare instances that this happens.

This is one of the big brick walls that PTI has erected and they can't see over it. They would rather insist on having that DC on every package (hugely inflating the cost of shipping internationally) than simply taking the occasional loss. And this is the single most huge reason that other companies are able to offer better, lower cost shipping. They have made the smarter choice and the customers are happier because the comapnies offer low cost first class shipping.

The other brick wall, which again inflates the cost of shipping and is a virtually useless service they insist on is insurance. Many people have looked at insurance on shipping from an actuarial viewpoint and found it to be penny wise, pound foolish. It is an added cost that most customers do not appreciate while the frequency of actual lost or destroyed packages is infitessimal.

In all the years I was shipping I never had insurance on packages and replaced exactly ONE package due to loss. It should be another cost of doing business calculation. With all my years in shipping bothe domestically and abroad, I simply don't buy that they HAVE to put insurance on all their packages because so many of them are problematic. They are simply overreacting to a loss here or there and making the customer pay. Stooopid.

So my biggest advice in a nutshell for shipping overseas is exploit and offer all the options where you can. Ship anything that qualifies by first class and don't worry about DC or insurance being on packages. This is how the successful companies with good CS and shipping options are doing it.

Waltzing Mouse does it all right. Papertrey should take a lesson from their practices. It is a newer company than PTI, but I have yet to see a misstep. Yes, they don't release as much and have not diversified as much, but they are doing it right instead of in a greedy manner. Claire is careful not to overextend money, products, or push time limits or labor availability. I predict that WMS is about to take a big share of PTI customers.

I don't get the Stephinka thing. She posted it on the internet which IS public. Why is she bent out of shape that after she linked her own blog to the forum that people are discussing her public words?

I think Stephinka is upset because, while yes, she was discussing it on the internet, and on her blog that was linked on the forum, she was not discussing it on the forum. I think she was trying to express her frustrations while still attempting to be respectful to PTI and doing it on her own blog. By Donna C posting the link, I bet it opened up a can of worms for Stephinka that she wasn't looking for. She was speaking to her group of blog readers and not the forum as a whole.

I agree with some of the previous people on here in believing Donna is just a shit stirrer. I have felt that way since I was new to PTI and was still drinking the Kool Aid. Now, though, I haven't purchased in a while, but I think she enjoys getting people worked up.

OK, I just checked out the thread on Hawaii shipping and see PTI is making yet another ROOKIE shipping error.

They are apparently treating Hawaii and alaska the same as international shipping?????? That is redonkulus!!!!!

When shipping priority mail to Hawaii, Alaska or Puerto Rico it COSTS NO MORE than if shipping to mainland California from the east coast, i.e. it is priced at zone eight. Zone 8 is the priority mail domestic limit, they do not charge premium rates for the non contiguous states.

Why then do Hawaii and Alaska customers have their free shipping threshold set at the same as for overseas buyers, $100??? I would be pissed. Why are they such idiots? Why aren't more people complaining about that?

Let the fault lie with the true owner. PTI is who has everyone all stirred up. Don't shoot the messenger.

12:37- First, there is no free shipping for international customers. They get a $10 shipping discount at the $100 mark or a $20 shipping discount at the $200 mark. You are right that USPS shipping is the same to CA as it is to Hawaii or Alaska. But UPS is very different!! I think most of the west coast orders are sent UPS, since it is usually cheaper. I was curious so I checked both sites. A 7lb package from PTI to my mom in CA would cost $23 USPS priority or $10.07 UPS ground. That same package would cost $23 via USPS or $34.34 via UPS if sending to Hawaii. Since PTI doesn't use flat rate USPS boxes, I'm pretty sure they would send a box that size via UPS to my mom, but send it USPS to Hawaii. If they use the cheapest shipping option in both cases, there is a $13 shipping difference. So it kind of makes sense that the free shipping threshold would be higher. But it is only $30 higher, which really isn't all that much. It has been at that amount for as long as I can remember.

If I were Stephinka, I would be upset, too! She posted a direct link to that blog post here, so obviously she knows how. If she wanted to post a direct link to her PTI review on the PTI forum, she would have done it herself. She didn't want it there! She wanted to have her say on her own blog and be done with it. I just don't understand what Donna was trying to accomplish, except to stir up trouble. I do think it is interesting that people, even PTI fans, are wishing Stephinka luck and say they are going to miss her, but nobody has said anything like that to Donna! I guess they don't care that she is leaving the forum, too.

You are right that it makes "some" sense dollar wise but it is also hugely upopular among customers of the non contiguous states when they are penalized for not being mainland. USPS does not penalize them and includes them in zone eight.

Companies like PTI however, have chosen to treat them differently. I can assure you that companies like Gina K and others that continually get high marks for shipping prices and CS include the non contiguous states in their free shipping offers without jacking up the threshold.

So there was a screw up on one of the stamp sets. It will be fun to see how long it takes for this to get resolved.

On another thread a member says that she has waived her right to privacy and wants answers about last years anniversary sets because she has tried the cs route without luck.

Discuss.
