Fresh Space

It's release day. PTI Smacker 3 actually got a card stock order through without any big problems. Except they did send my order confirmation an hour and a half late.

So.. who's ordering, hm? And 5%? Really? Only? Wow, ok... Lol

First!

For the person on the last thread, besides Waltzingmouse, Gina K Designs also sells a jar stamp set, no matching dies. I am pretty sure I have seen jars other places too.

Kathy said...

2ND!! woohooo

Kathy said...

I actually have a jar stamp from DOTS (now close to my heart) made in the 90's. Original ideas, right PTI?!?

PTI Smack III said...

Kathy: oh they will always be someone else who does it first, eh?

Well, according to Jenn, their IT "guy" (notice singular) is doing all the work on the site. It really is one inexperienced person and a "how to make a website in 1 week" kit. And, like someone here said, I'd bet it was a relative.

PTI, you really are majorly incompetent.

And your release tonight? Wow, what can I say? Bring out the shark ... you're jumping it again. Please, I made interactive cards years and years ago. I have no desire to go back. Lamps? Everyone else has done them, too. More flowers with dies? How new and exciting.

Big yawn!!!!

now that the PTI forum is in hiding, they are coming to SCS more. Here is another thread

cross your fingers that there's no site crash tonight ...

Anonymous said...

5% is better than no % off but it sure isn't much of a discount

Anonymous said...

Why cross my fingers? I could care less if the site crashes.....

@18:01 - Who is this mcbenjam (Mary) lady? I nominate her to be the Communications Director! Her response was concise and extremely helpful at 2Peas. They need to hire her immediately...

Anonymous said...

^^^ Whoops, I meant SCS, not 2Peas.

Anonymous said...

Thank God I found this place, my head was about to explode reading the CRAP over on the PTI forum! The large number of problems with the new website are totally inexcusable after all this time. Boggles my mind!

Anonymous said...

So that explains it. A response from Jennifer regarding how reward points will work tonight on the new website:

I'm sure there will be prompts for how to handle the points, but since I don't have points to try it with, I'm unable to let you know the exact steps at this time.

So N, J, and J really didn't test out the new website first. Otherwise, the IT guy would have given each person some points to play with to verify there were no bugs. This is called "Testing 101".

Fuck you, PTI. Just tried to order. took FOREVER for things to load and add to cart. Went to checkout.....empty cart.

by nichole » Wed Feb 15, 2012 2:41 pm

For everyone that did not receive the correct discount with the coupon code, we will make it right. The tech is trying to fix all of the orders at once from the back end. We will keep you updated, but I promise you we will make it right. I apologize for the frustration.

^^^ That is absolutely a recipe for disaster. I hope none of you ordered tonight! I bet there will be tons of incorrect charges which will take months to sort out. I wouldn't be surprised if people go straight to the BBB over this.

Anonymous said...

um...yah...so several ppl are having issues with the 5% promo code. their discount ends up being $5 instead of five percent of the subtotal.

see the obvious math mistake up there or is it just me? i promise i am not a genius!

Re: Release Night Tech Help
by nichole » Wed Feb 15, 2012 2:50 pm

The coupon code did not work correctly for anyone and reverted back to $5 on all orders for some reason. We don' t know if our tech will be able to fix it on the back end for everyone at once yet.

Might I recommend that the IT guy and the PTI team take a basic math class. % means something different than $. Please make note before writing coding for order calculation on the confirmation page.

Thank goodness Revenge was on tonight. It's my favorite show, and I didn't want to miss a second of it. It just happens to start at 10:00. Instead of placing the order I had planned that reached the free shipping mark, I just ran in at a commercial and added 3 new things off the main page. Used my rewards and got a 5.00 discount (hope they don't take it away from me because it sure isn't 5% of my order!!) With all of the trouble with emptying carts, etc, I am glad I just went small! Thanks, Revenge and ABC TV for saving me a headache and entertaining me at the same time :)

Anonymous said...

I am officially over PTI. For the last 2 years I have looked forward to release night and made and rearranged my order from my small budget, loving every moment of it.

Tonight I had absolutely no desire to shop with PTI. My husband told me to order what I wanted for my Valentine's present. I have some reward points, so I would have been able to put together a large order. at least for me.

I just know how this whole website fiasco will be handled by PTI: by making the customer seem out of line for expecting things to run like any other website store.

I think that the "aha" moment, for me, was when someone on the forum said she ordered the Mat Stack 4 stamp set and there were 2 stamps missing. It turned out that PTI decided not to include the stamps any more because the stamps were too close together and some people ripped the stamps taking them off the sheets.

Well, PTI never changed the the picture of the stamp set on their website on one of the pages. Nichole told the customer that she could understand how someone could find it confusing, but that since the picture was correct SOMEWHERE on the site, PTI would do nothing to help out this customer. Here is the link in case you are interested http://forum.papertreyink.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=27671&p=343138#p343138

What a totally disappointing way of handling this. And I am embarrassed that the poor woman who wanted what was advertised was chastised by forum members. Truly unbelievable.

I have been disgusted with the way PTI has handled many, many of their customer service issues, but some reason the above case completely infuriated me.

The website being an absolute, complete mess is the very last straw for me. I have no desire to shop with PTI any more. None. I will use my reward points on cardstock and won't even look at PTI for a very long time. Really, really disappointing.

Anonymous said...

Incorrect discount - and I use the term discount loosely - emptying carts, shipping charged on gift certificates, incorrect codes, and more increases in shipping. Sounds like a total fuster cluck. Sooo glad I didn't order.

Anonymous said...

Add me to the "glad I didn't order and don't plan to order anytime soon" camp.

I am looking forward to Waltzing Mouse's next release!

Anonymous said...

20:51- I'm so sorry you didn't get to order any new things for Valentine's day! I really understand your decision, though. It's so sad that something that used to bring people joy and excitement now brings frustration and disappointment.
I didn't even bother trying to order tonight and doubt I will for quite a while.

Anonymous said...

Oh my....I just read a bit of that release night tech help thread. How comical, in a way. I feel bad for the customers but have to laugh at PTI. They did it to themselves!

Anonymous said...

Are you $hi!!ing me?!?:

"I'm ready to check out but have a gift certificate I want to use. I've used gift certificates before but cannot figure out how to do it with the new website. Help please."

Nichole: The gift certificate was most likely purchased on the old site and we have not been able to link those numbers with the new site yet. If you would like to redeem it, you unfortunately need to pay for the merchandise with a credit card and put your gift certificate number in the comments and we will manually refund you the amount of gc when the order is processed.

I ordered last night because of those damn zipper dies. What a fucking nightmare. I would have given up earlier if I hadn't already put so much time into it. My cart kept emptying, nothing was in stock, website was slow. They should be ashamed.

It's also quite clear that none of those idiots have a clue what 10:00 release time means. It means that EVERYTHING should be ready to go at ten. But noooooooo, ten is when they ever so slowly start adding products, one at a time.

Ps I hate shopping the new website, Glitches aside, it's such a pita to shop from.

SAYONARA PAPERTREY!

Anonymous said...

Wow, it really was horrible to shop but I didn't want to miss out on some items- and then the cart keeps emptying and I had to keep going back to find the items (which would be less frustrating if it was easy to find in the first place but noooooo...)

I'm finding another company for all my supplies with a website that actually works.

Anonymous said...

2:24. That's exactly what happened to me, such a bear to go through everything to add a ink pad. Then go back and do it again. I had so many paper packs but the genius IT guy kept saving me money by emptying my cart for me.

Anonymous said...

If I were to tour the PTI facility, warehouse, office spaces, etc....I don't think I'd be surprised at all if I saw chimps running things.

Anonymous said...

6:02, please don't insult chimps!

Anonymous said...

06:02 - no, you'll see heifers.

Anonymous said...

Typical, I though I'd check out the website this morning and the first thing I clicked on OOS. Thanks PTI for helping me save money.

I'm surprised no one has gone stomping into the thread someone posted celebrating their victory over the PTI website and placing an order without difficulty. Some people....no class.

Anonymous said...

I don't understand what's so difficult about having a basic functioning website? Soooooo many shops have them? Hell, even small ass Practicing Creativity has a nice, working website.

And why the hell won't PTI shut it's damn store down for an hour or two to load the new stuff, and then open the store for business at the release time? It won't cost them THAT much in lost sales to do this... they need to get the eff with the program. It's disgusting to witness... and I don't even buy from them anymore.

Anonymous said...

^^^funny!

I tried to order this morning (just for laughs) Got all kinds of errors from google chrome about the site certificate to adding to cart and showing up empty!

Anonymous said...

Was taken to this page when trying to click on Customer Service tab just now:

"The server's security certificate is revoked!

You attempted to reach papertreyink.com, but the certificate that the server presented has been revoked by its issuer. This means that the security credentials the server presented absolutely should not be trusted. You may be communicating with an attacker. You should not proceed."

Anonymous said...

Aaaaand I can't see any of the stamp pages when I click on them.

Site error and an apology is all I got.

Is it b/c I'm using Chrome?

Anonymous said...

I am curious as to how much money PTI has lost just due to customer fustration.

Anonymous said...

7:53, I don't think so. I was reading a couple of PTI threads and people have been trying other web browsers with same results.

Anonymous said...

OMG just went to a forum thread posted here and I was so damn distracted by everyone's profile pics. When did posting hot guys as your profile pic become the thing to do?

Living vicariously through your teenage daughters much?

Anonymous said...

Yeah, just tried with IE and got the same results.

PTI needs to shut their shop down for a few days and get with the program.

Anonymous said...

So predictable and sad at the same time. The web site sucking, the way they're handling it, the frustrated customers and of course, the hand slapping, high and mighty responses from the other forum members. That is the thing that pisses me off the most. For the life of me, I do not understand why the forum members cannot just let people vent their damn frustrations. If it isn't about you...stay off the friggen thread! GRRRRRRRR!

Anonymous said...

SO glad CJkerr is on hand to give us ungrateful PTI so called customers a moralty lesson and remind us all that there are more important things in life than stamps and paper such as "millions of people starving to death..."

Please read her post on Stamping Talk - "Does anything make you happy?"

You have been told!

Anonymous said...

cjkerr & cknutter are cut from the same twatty cloth. Who do those bitches think they are?

Anonymous said...

I don't know but it's so damn frustrating. I'm afraid NH and co think they speak for the majority. I read NH's post today on the MoxieFab thing and can just imagine Nichole looking at the website and forums, holding her hands over her ears, and singing "la la la la la," as if to pretend none of it is happening.

Anonymous said...

@7:58...LOL. I thought it was just me. I didn't know posting hot guys was a new trend, either...

Anonymous said...

They finally took the site down. *sigh* I know they needed to but it pisses me off to no end that this is even a problem. A complete cluster fuck. What the hell is wrong with those people.

I just want to order a few dies and a stamp set, should not be so hard.

Anonymous said...

Shat. Cloizeaux has got to be releated to someone at PTI because she's taking the whole thing too personally. What a handslapper.
forum.papertreyink.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=30478

For those who don't want to visit the trainwreck, here's what it says:

This is not at all well said. It is inflammatory, short sighted and reflective of a complate lack of comprehension of the small business model. I am on my cell on a train at the moment but tonight at my hotel I will take you through a very conservative financial analysis to show you how under the best of circumstances it is not possible for this company to be rolling in cash. I do not get angry often but to make a blatant statement that this company does not care about its customers because it will take yourMoney but not spend is contempt able and has indeed angered me. I am sorry to see you chose to leave but do not feel content in your reasoning as you could not be more dead wrong; both analytically ( if you did any financial analysIs what so ever) and on a human level. This Isnt a computer you are accusing of such hatefulness but real flesh and blood people. I truly hope you are not judged so harshly when your attempts are less than successful .

Anonymous said...

PTI is unbelievable. My husband and I own a truly small business. We've been in business for over a decade and launched our website a few years ago.

We paid a web designer $3,500 to build our site for us and he did a kick ass job. We had a $1,000 retainer left over after the build, too.

Our launch was not completely bug-free (I don't know if such a thing is possible), but it was about as easy as it could have been and we STILL get compliments on how well our site is designed. (We've obviously done updates over the last 6 years, but we've used the same designer the entire time.)

Anyway, my point is this: we are a VERY small business and were able to invest in a decent website. I don't think it's outlandish to say that PTI does not appear to put the money it makes back into the business.

I'm sure they're doing a few hundred thousand dollars in sales monthly; how could they NOT have a few thousand dollars to put into a website at this point?

Also, cloiseaux needs to shut her fucking mouth. I'd like to stuff her cell-phone down her train-riding throat.

Anonymous said...

does inspector cloisseaux realize that any analysis on her part is purely conjecture? I can't wait to see what financial asshattery she comes up with.

and i just have to ask...why do people who are not shareholders in any company take complaints so deeply personally? no one is attacking the sheep. the sheep have no control over shipping/websites/shopping carts/felt/etc. but they act personally affronted by the complaints. and then toss it off with 'it's just paper and stamps people'.

why do they need to say anything at all? no one addressed them. no one is asking THEM for a refund. i will never understand this mentality.

when clouisseax comes back with her spreadsheet filled with contrived and fuzzy math, i wish someone would respond with 'thanks for the lesson but no one asked you.'

and since i don't visit the forum very often, do the handslappers get ignored by those with a true complaint? or do the complainers allow themselves to get sucked into the drama? if it were me, i'd totally ignore anything that didn't contribute to the conversation.

thread crappers....the lot of them.

13:20- here you go:

http://forum.papertreyink.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=30473&start=50

For non-forum members:

And secondly to the OP, you title a thread with "does anything make you happy?" and then proceed to chastise people for feeling the way they feel, and then you have the unmitigated gall to talk about "great, now the b*tching can stop!" Newsflash: you just stirred it up.
I'm sure we're all grateful for our computers - I kiss mine every morning and tell it how much I love it. And I flick the light switches on and off every night for that disco feel - just because I can...again, showing my gratefulness for the electricity of which you speak.
As for being grateful for PTI - not so much. Am I grateful for giving them money month after month and having them do a happy dance with it, waving the Benjamins in the air while packages are left unshipped and lost in their own warehouse? Not so much. And PTI didn't really offer a free thank you set. They dropped it in to packages...some of them...inconsistently. Some people who ordered early and big didn't get one. Some people who ordered later and small did. But we don't really need to go back through all that. It's old and it's tired. As for last night. Last night was the biggest cluster{insert word that rhymes with "buck"} ever. Seriously? Did they not do a run-through of placing orders and see the carts get dumped over and over and over again? Did they not test the 5%-off code? It would seem that these things didn't happen. What a debacle. What a complete debacle. It's not just paper and stamps. It's time and money. My time - that I choose to spend beating my head against my monitor {that I am so grateful for } and my money that I choose to give to these people who simply don't give two sh*ts about my business. But I do it because I made a gigantic mistake 5 years ago and that was making PTI cardstock and ribbon the foundation of my crafting. To start fresh with Stampin' Up or elsewhere would cost me a fortune. So instead, I pay the price. And with that payment, I am entitled to b*tch all I want. And THAT makes me happy.

Anonymous said...

HA! Love Michelle's post. I have often thought she was Lice Girl.

It is commendable that Cloiseux has apologised to Diane but if only people would count to 10 before they fire off their missile. It creates such angst and quickly changed the tone on the boards to snarly.

I feel so sorry for all those poor souls that tried to order last night. I actually experienced a bit of what they did because my cart got emptied when I tried to go back and spend the rest of my PTI BUX. Seriously? Can these people get NOTHING right?!! I also have placed my last PTI order. Cashed in all my rewards for stuff I wanted. Bought things I'd thought about for a while. I feel so relieved & am happy with my decision. Just can't be bothered anymore. The price hike in international shipping, the disgrace of the new website & the high & mighties on the board made my decision easy. Won't miss it- too much other good stuff around.

Anonymous said...

Wow - I thought I would order to use my reward points and only got as far as entering

1 stamp set
1 roll felt
1 stamp pad
4 stamp cubes

and shipping was $36.20

The new website is unbelievably f'ed up. I cannot imagine the owners of PTI looking at the new website and saying "Well, we haven't tested a damn thing, we don't know if the PTI Bux will work, international shipping has gone up, links don't work, product isn't loaded, the forum isn't linked to the anything, but let's roll it out!" I'm guessing they put off hiring a web designer until about two weeks ago, got some guy from a local community college, paid him $500 and said "just make it look pretty!".

I still don't understand PTI's internations shipping charges.
This is from Miss Gina K herself regarding shipping from her company:

If you do not order card stock, our international shipping rate is $13.95 flat- no matter how large the order. We have had customers order over $1000.00 in stamps, tools, storage boxes, dies, etc... (combining orders with friends,) and the entire order shipped for $13.95

Anonymous said...

I also meant to add that Gina K is one classy lady! She seems like such a fair business woman and always handles customers comments and questions with grace.
I've never shopped from her store before but I think I ought to start!

If only she had the gorgeous dies and stamps that PTI offers ... I do love her paper though.

I know. Her designs are cute, but not really my style. Just because of who she is though I really want to order from her.
I think she could have a handle on a HUGE part of PTI's lost sales with just a little work.

So Rick the old admin was Julie's husband...told you they keep everything in the family....

I really like the idea of a seed packet stamp and die. I know that WPlus9 has their own - are there any more out there (other than the PTI one, of course)?

Thanks.

Is that papertrey blog real? I mean, he, that Rick guy, is he telling the truth? Not that I think that pti is not a joke! I need to read more... thanks for the link.

^^^ Yes, it must be real. I looked Rick up on LinkedIn and his career matches. I don't think there's any reason to believe the blog is fake. I'm in the IT business and his blog is technically correct.

What do you think her two jobs were? Printing and Papertrey, or something else? I've often wondered if the J's were trying to handle both PTI and Heskamp printing business - and if so, I think a lot of their problems would be eliminated if they had a papertrey operations manager who was solely assigned to that arm of the business.

Yes, Rick used to be the Admin on the forum. Back when they really were a small company. It was Nichole, Julie, Jane, and Rick. Actually, Rick was great on the forum. I really wish he was still around. He was good at fixing tech problems and he was funny! I think a lot of the problems started when he stepped down from the company. But I don't see anything wrong with a husband, with a very strong IT background, taking an IT position in a new small company run by 3 women. Remember they were just starting out and only releasing one or 2 stamp sets a month back then.

----Hey, thanks for the info!

Not exactly related (well, it involves an ex- pti designer). Do you know if there was a problem between Niki Estes and WaltzingMouse Stamps? Her name doesn't appear on the DT list anymore and she also deleted WMS from the companies she works for...
I like her colorful cards...

OK...Am I missing something here 14:06? What does that video have to do with PTI? (Granted I stopped it 1/2 way through because I had no idea what your point was...) (So not trying to be rude, even if this is a Smack Blog)

Hah.... 16:10, I had to google the term to figure this out, but apparently 14:06 "Rickrolled" us. It's explained here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rickrolling
"Rickrolling is an Internet meme[1][2] involving the music video for the 1987 Rick Astley song "Never Gonna Give You Up". The meme is a bait and switch; a person provides a hyperlink seemingly relevant to the topic at hand, but actually leads to Astley's video. The link can be masked or obfuscated in some manner so that the user cannot determine the true destination of the link without clicking. Persons led to the music video are said to have been rickrolled."
WHO KNEW?? lol

I did, it's a popular internet meme and quite frankly if you haven't heard of it you live a sheltered life.

OK, OP of the Rickroll video here...sorry, I just couldn't help myself. I was Rickrolled a few years ago and I thought it was funny since I grew up with Rick Astley and thought he was hot at the time. Didn't mean to cause any other repercussions, honest... :)

18:19- No worries! There are just a few people on here that can't wait to smack someone, whether they deserve it or not. Drama queens!!
