I caved and ordered from MFT last night! I just couldn't resist Lisa's primitive pumpkin set!
I have also ordered LOTS from The Stamps Of Life. They have great quality products and they have some of the cheapest shipping out there. I believe the owner works for Sizzix, so all of the dies that match her stamps are Sizzix. Just my two cents. Not affiliated, just a happy customer!
There is also the Martha Stewart loopy edge punch. If you don't HAVE to have a die.
Also: I figured out why the creepy santa looks so creepy to me. It's because the entire round part of his irises are showing. His eyes look zombified. Whoever illustrated that thing should have studied pictures of people smiling and made the irises be covered up by the lower eyelids a little.
Actually I think Her Royal Highness drew that pervy Santa, it looks like her style of illustration. She does those images with all the flowing lines, like in the YOF series. Looks good for flowers, not for people IMO.

I bought from MFT's release last night, too. Mostly dies, but I did get Lisa's set, some card stock and felt.
On a PTI note, is anyone really going to use those itty bitty dies with Boards and Beams and Home for the Holidays? Even one of the DT said she was intimidated by them. So not for me -they would drive me crazy!

IMO Danielle knocked it out of the park with her gingerbread house today. I don't even like gingerbread stuff, but that house is adorable. Dawn's colors are once again yukky and her stamping is splotchy. The snowglobe does nothing for me. I have to have the Boards and Beams dies--both sets. It is going to kill me not to order them. I don't need the Peace and Love because I have the identical MS letter set. Trying not to cave for those B & B dies though.
FYI she got at least some of those Year of Flowers illustrations from clip art. But yeah, she altered them to give them the dotted lines look.
Upon looking at Creepy Santa again I have decided he looks more sad than anything else. And a little anxious. Probably how Nichole is feeling about PTI these days. He looks like he is watching his empire go down in flames but has to put on a smile for the public. If I ever stamped that thing (which I never will) I would use dimensional glue to put a poignant tear running down his cheek. Cue the "Ridi Pagliaccio" music...
I would like the Boards and Beams dies too but I would never use the smaller companion dies. I have the door stamps and all of the little dies that go with them and I have used them a total of 2 times. Way too tedious for me.
No matter though, I'm not ordering.
If there is anything that I really want I will wait a few months and watch the for sale board.

8:44, there are only a couple manufacturers of buttons (like most products), so honestly buttons from all the companies are almost exact.
Okay. So what about the sizes? From the pics on MFT's website it looks like they might not have any of the huge ginormous buttons in them. Do you know if they do or not?

I figured that I wouldn't like anything because I don't send out Halloween cards nor do I do a lot of treat bags/crafts/ decorating for Halloween. I also have enough Christmas stamps to last me a lifetime and then some. I like the Boards and Beams dies but I am still safe.

Yes, the Silhouette is amazing. You can create a cut out of any image, even your stamps. No need to buy dies for stamps anymore. It pays for itself very quickly.
But you still have to pay for the files to match the stamps right? --and have computer software and a big desk for all the equipment and you still need a Big Shot to emboss?
The files are only 99 cents. And you can use them over an over. OR...if you have a scanner you can scan the stamped image and save it as a jpeg file and there is your cut file. It really is a good deal. I got my Silhouette on Amazon and if I pay it off in six months its ends up interest free.
You don't need to buy the cut files. If you have a scanner you can scan the stamped image, trace it and turn it into a cut file. It does not emboss (so you still need the Cuttlebug/Big Shot if you want to emboss) and it can take up a lot of room if you consider that it has to be hooked up to a computer.

You need a scanner. Stamp all your images on a paper, scan it, open the software and trace your image. The trepace feature is super easy to use. AND you can even adjust the outline of the trace so if you want the cut to fit exactly around the stamp, just make a smaller trace. Or if you want it to have a little white border like you get from a die cut, just increase the offset of the trace. Then just cut your stamps onto cardstock and stamp your images.
The reason I like doing this is that you can have a cut for every stamp. Especially those hard to cut images or for stamps that don't have a complete set of dies. Besides dies can cost an average of $8 to $20 each time. After only a few sets, the Silouette paid for itself.
I also tried this same technique for images and shapes on Google. Just trace the image and it's an instant die.

I have had both a Slice and a Cricut and both just frustrated the heck out of me. Rough cuts and just a mess. So hard to get something good that it was just too much work. Afraid of die cutting machines now.
Me again. One more thing. I have also used the trace feature for envelopes. I opened the envelope all the way, scanned, and traced it. Now I always have the template in my files and can cut it onto any pattern paper I want. And I didn't have to pay for a file from the Silhouette store. All free.
I had a Cricut. Hated it. Never used it. Got the Cameo and love how it tells you what setting to use based on the material or paper. So far I have had a great experience with the Cameo.
Will it work with a MAC and any scanner?
Is it wireless or do you have to have a cable to connect to the computer. My computer and printer take up 90% of my desktop now. If I could put it on a counter 6 feet away, it might be doable.
Yes the Cameo is compatible with Mac or PC. It connects to the computer with a USB cable. For now, mine is sitting on the floor but I am going to get a longer USB cable so I can set it on the table. So that is the only downfall I can think of, but I don't even consider that an issue. I might even scan all my dies and sell them to save storage. Dies are such a pain to store and organize in my small space.
Oh and yes any scanner will work.

I owned a scanner years ago, and never used it. Couldn't get it to work with a new computer so I got rid of it. Now would like to get another since I have a Cameo, but don't know what to get. Inexpensive but not cheap is what I need... anyone have any recommendations?

Lawn Fawn has a lovely gingerbread house set, and the gingerbread people look really sweet. Nicer than the PTI one from what I have seen so far.
Check out the PTI Knockoff blog - there is a pocket on the card there - they cut it by hand by the sound of it. Good sense; can have any size you want.

When you make 150 Christmas cards, a die is nice.

I thought Nichole's poinsettia card was very pretty. The others, not so much. As for the combination of Autumn Rose and Scarlet Jewel inks, I'll never do that. Why? Because mine look EXACTLY THE SAME.
I don't want to see any more designers go over to SC. I don't like any of their offerings and I would much rather see them go to other stamp companies.

I like SC products when I see it in the store, but their kit club seems confusing to me and I really feel like an outsider when I read their forum. Like I'm not cool enough to understand because I'm not a member. I don't know. It just isn't very welcoming. I don't feel that way on any other boards.

I think Maile is awesome at cards and want her to keep her style. I also love her stamps and don't see SC coming out with a ton of card type stamps, but mostly scrapbooking ones.
That is the problem that I have with SC too. They aren't mainly a cardmaking company. When I see Dawn's cards made with SC product vs PTI stamps, I find them to be too scrappy.

I really loved Jessica's use of boards and beams - really just beautiful. I would love to get that whole collection but darn if it isn't $63 or something crazy like that. If I had them already adding on the dies wouldn't be a big deal, but to buy it all at once kind of sucks. I have had it on my wishlist for awhile now though.
I can't even login to the new website. It cuts off my email address, but when it asks me to reset my password, it uses the whole emaill address. I've reset the password twice now. The first password worked before they did the 'data import' yesterday. Now even that first password won't work and the reset I did this morning isn't working either.
I have no plans to purchase any time soon, just curious about the website and wanted to check out my account. But I don't understand how they expect customers to order if they can't even login or reset their password.

I would go insane running a die through my cuttlebug 150 times. THAT is when an electronic cutter is nice! Load up a 12x24 mat with 2 sheets of 12x12 cs and let it go to town.

Speaking of aisle/isle. Another example of using the wrong homophone: Erin's blog post is titled Santa Stationary. Is Santa not moving? Stationary with an "a" means not moving. StationEry, with an e is the stuff you use to write letters. I remember learning the mnemonic "stationEry goes in an Envelope". Someone needs to teach it to Erin.
And as I'm looking at my google reader I think Erin's post published early because it's a group post for 'Letters to Santa' and she used stationAry all through it. Maybe someone will notify her of the spelling issue and she'll correct it before the post is supposed to go live.
14:21 i feel like with my PTI inks it depends on the color. The light colors have horrible coverage and some of my get great coverage. That is the problem with PTI inks they are so inconsistent!

The colored cardstock underneath makes a world of difference. I am noticing the dt's doing that more to cover up for the bad inks.

If the ink is that crappy, does it really matter if the Versamark ruins the pad? And I'm not trying to be snarky or a smartass. I truly wonder which will happen first - the ink totally separating and being even more subpar or the inkpad falling apart from using Versamark.
I use the Tim holtz distress embossing pad before inking and it's a world of difference.

i've used versamark before my dye ink pads (su) for 13 years and the pads are fine. some i've replaced because they've frayed but no worse than others who don't use versamark. i'm a demo.

I love, love, love that Santa set, even though the Santa face will go in the trash. The rest of it is too adorable. I think after a year, I might cave. Loved Jess' Easter Bunny story about her 8 yr. old. I also have to have the Scarlet Jewel pack so I guess I will have to order. I know. I know. I totally "get" that whole not crediting your photo thing. I have found my stuff on other blogs before with no link back to my blog or credit. Granted, I have a watermark, but it blows me away that people would not ask permission or at least link back.

You can still check stock with the new website. If you put in a large quantity, it doesn't change your quantity to the on hand amount it gives you a popup box that says you've exceeded the amount on hand.
Not to jazzed about this month. All the samples look dated to me. I like what Jess and Maile did but I feel like I could still do it with other sets I already have.
The Santa letters is a cute idea but I could easily make something similar in Photoshop and print it out. For very low cost.
03:17- I used to be a SU demo and agree, the service was great and I always had problems fixed to my satisfaction. I just grew away from the style of their stamps. If they go clear I hope to see some fresh new styles.

Yay to Ashley for using actual sealing wax on her seal! The faux sealing wax method using embossing powder is a great technique and I was glad to see a couple people use it, but as a total geek for all things bookish I was *super* glad to see REAL sealing wax used at least once.
On the other hand: I was super disappointed to see that FOUR of the ten team members don't know that it's supposed be spelled 'stationEry'. Erin, Maile, Danielle, and Melissa. WTH!!! I expected better from these guys! It baffles me that people can spend 13 years in the public school system and still come out not knowing basic spelling and grammar.

As I was reading Nichole's blog this morning, I showed Pervy Santa to my husband. I casually asked him if he liked that image. He made a face and said it looked weird.

This is like how when I was a kid and I didn't want to eat my dinner, and my parents said there were starving children in China who had nothing and I should be grateful for the food I had. It took me years and years until I realized, me eating my food would not do a darn thing to help those kids in China unless my parents boxed it up and sent it to them. In which case I wouldn't have it to eat anyway.

I like the SU folder where it looks like fabric. I don't know if it's still in stock or available. Never bought it, didn't want to spend extra on tax and shipping.
I've always thought that the linen/canvas impression plate looks more like a painted cinder block wall once it's impressed. Which could be a cool texture in and of itself if that's what you're going for... but if you want paper that looks like linen or canvas, I don't think this impression plate does the trick.
Oh and sorry, I don't know of an alternative.

19:24 - I logged a ticket with Zendesk yesterday, and everything was resolved this morning. It now accepts my 24+ character user ID, and I used a temp password from when I tried to reset it myself.
I used the reset feature and got a temporary password pretty quickly.
Lemme guess, it was "password"? hehe
The automated password reset procedure wouldn't send me any email, but when I opened a ticket, I got a prompt response from Julie. She asked me what I wanted her to set for a temporary password. I chose one, then reset it when I logged on.
I was sent a new password but still couldn't login. I have now opened a Zendesk ticket.

Oh my goodness, what is going on? People forgot how to use scissors and their brain at the same time? And this time you can't even say "mass production" -- far more time-consuming to run a die through a machine this time.
And it's $18?!?! And it's #1 - so there will be more?
The usuable space of the tissue paper is so small! I guess you could start gifting bottlecaps and paperclips.
I have to give credit where it's due. The new web site is a vast improvement over the most recent one. The thumbnail images are back and look good. The wish list feature is going to be very useful as well. It will be nice to put older products on the wish list instead of in the shopping cart and then use them to fill in an order as needed. I'm not a unicorn, but a smacker willing to say when I see some actual improvement. Add that to the way Julie has been polite and helpful during the rollout of the new site, and I'm feeling somewhat optimistic about PTI today. I really do want them to succeed.
So, Mish is promoting the new Halloween collection from OA on her blog today, saying "this will be in stores soon!" Knowing OA, that will be what.... around New Year's?
About OA, why is it they are always so slow with new releases? Just like their Christmas line last year. It didn't hit stores fast enough, so I ended up buying it on clearance at the end of December to use this year. The stores can't make a profit this way, so I wonder why they keep buying wholesale. Too bad because their product is cute most of the time, if you can get any of it.
Betsy sure can think out of the box! I don't use favors, but those brooms are cute.
I watched the video in amazement, in awe that NH not only carefully measured the tissue paper, but also recommended IRONING it. For a party favor? I think not. And $18? No.
I know I would use the pillow box die. But there's no way I'll spend $22 on that. Not unless I mass-produce and sell them. Even then, I don't think I could break even ion it. People aren't willing to pay much for gift card holders.
I don't even use party favors and the gift boxes don't hold much either. Too much fru-fru for too much money.
Very interesting that Maile Belles did not use any PTI inks at all for today's pillow boxes and tags - she made a point of saying how much she loves the mint Archival ink. It does look a lot better of course. If I stamped as splotchy-ly as some of the DT using PTI inks it would be in the bin and no way would I add it to my blog.
Noticed the Hero Arts inks on Maile's site too. Good for her!
the cricut art philosophy cartridge has a pillow box and you can size it whatever size you need and mass cut them. It's a great cartridge you can even cut clear acetate with it. just an FYI
OA is much worse than PTI as far as customer service goes. I have several wholesale accounts with scrapbooking companies and I dont bother with OA any more. They ignore emails and are very unorganized. It's a shame because I love their designs.

What a lack luster release for the PTI gang. The stamps are blah, the colors on the cards are hideous, and sausage fingers posted a video of how to use their $18 tissue paper die!

I agree that the release projects this month are pretty blah. The PTI DT should be hitting it out of the park every month with all the current and past product they have to work with.
To be honest, I haven't been really and truly wowed by a card in a very long time, PTI or otherwise. Can someone please post links to cards or cardmakers that are truly inspirational?
Just ordered more inks from Impress - they get my craft budget for the month. Looking forward to them arriving. Agree with others about the lackluster release for PTI. I liked some of the projects as inspirational ways to use other stamps I already own.
The first two days of release were good, seemed like a lot of stuff. Too much almost. Not enough projects were made with the product. The last two days are booorrrring. Why waste so much time on letters to santa and party favors?
They are talking about the bead die and papers on the forum as if they are going to be released this month. I know during SAF they said they would be released in September but I've not seen anything on the countdown posts. Wonder if they really will release them? My money is on "no"

So the new limeaid ice color doesn't look very lime-y. I thought customers were asking for a really good lime green color? Simply chartreuse looks more like lime green than limeaid ice does to me. Granted, I have not seen either of them in person so it's hard to tell... but on some of the design team blogs it almost looks like a lemony yellow color.
And almost everyone's ink looked horribly splotchy today. Wow.
It's so nice to know its not just me. When I think of lime green, "limeaid ice" is not it. I don't care for this color at all.
As for two days and all DT spent on letters to Santa and party favors, the explanation is clear: DT posts are always reserved for NH stamp sets. The fact that Lizzie's pillow box die was part of a DT post is amazing. Think about it: when have you ever seen a group post for a non-NH set? That's right. Never. She reserves that attention for herself.
It looks like a sick yellow to me.
