PTI stands for Papertrey Ink. This is a collective smack blog and Papertrey Ink review page. Papertrey Ink's continuously poor customer service has lead to a page dedicated to discussion of this stamp company and recommendations for alternative stamp companies. mid-week!
did anything from this release catch anyone's fancy?
is there another place that does the polaroid die? not a cut file but a steel one? hmmmmm
Lifestyle crafts has one I found on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/QuicKutz-CC-SHAPE-1-034-Instant-Photo-Die/dp/B0028SDJFU
The dimensions are wierd on Amazon, but checking product #'s to the Lifestyle website, it's normal polaroid sized. Also looks like there is a smaller size available.
missed my point. i don't post on the forum because of stuff that happened apart from this smack blog. don't care what a bunch of no names say about me but not interested in having my credit affected. enough said.

Voila is French actually, but whatever. It always fucks me up in the head when I see something like "wa la or walla"...people really think this???? Also, viola is really, really common....close, but no cigar..lol.
We once had a contest on a different board to come up with all the "creative" spellings for voila and there is a boatload of them. Oh oh oh, that just reminded me, was browsing on Ebay the other night and saw a pair of culottes (another Frenchy word) for sale and the seller had "Beatiful Clots" in her title :O
Posted this on other thread by accident .... Just got back from CHA ...it was dead, so disappointed. Not much there and nothing you can't see on their blogs or FB.
I can imagine CHA was a snooze, this is the first time I have ZERO interest in the new dies from Spellbinders. I am so over them, I can do it all for a lot less money with my Cameo. I am so over dies in general. Same with papers. Nothing is WOW anymore. I have a feeling this is what happens when you've been doing this hobby for over 5 years, everything just tends to be more of the same. I need something so new, so fresh and innovative that it wakes up my excitement for this hobby again.
Gina k - I would like to order some cardstock but I find it tedious to have to type in the name of each color that I want. Can you change your layout so that each individual color has an "add to cart" option? This was seriously what stopped me from ordering this morning. I had to keep clicking on the back button to figure out the color names. Thank you.
I have that Quickutz/Lifestyle Polaroid die and it's great - the cut it makes is 3 1/2 by 4 1/4 and the almost square opening is 3 1/8 by 3 3/8. 4x4 instagram pics look awesome in it.
Gina did a fabulous job on the Cameo video posted this morning. But I am still too intimidated by all that technology. What worries me is that unless I want to buy a $300 machine and all the accessories, I am soon not going to be able to have the look of die cuts. Seems like steel dies will soon be a thing of the past.
I don't think that steel dies are going anywhere. I have a Cameo and I love it but dies are so much faster, especially if you don't have your computer turned on.
I have also noticed that the price of PTI dies seem to be coming down from when they were first introduced. Compare the price of the tea for two die set (2 non-intricate dies for $9) to Mega Gracious Vases (4 larger equivalently intricate dies for $7).
I do not want one more machine next to my computer. I hate messing around for 10 minutes to get something I could have cut with a steel die in 15 seconds.
I don't think steel dies are going anywhere either. I do love my Cameo. But generally I use it for something I need to cut eleventy-million of at once. It's also nice for getting just the size I need. Or for something like the polaroid die. It's not something I'm going to use all the time, maybe only once even. I can spend $1 (or even $0.50 if it's a clearance shape) instead of $10. But that's also considering that I already have the machine.
But for making one card. Yeah it's easier & quicker to run a die through.
Wow - Gina did a wonderful presentation on the Cameo. I am not in the market for one just yet (they are EXPENSIVE in my country, but that has to be the best demonstration I have seen. I don't know anyone with this machine so have never seen it working, and it sounded so intimidating. Her introduction really took away the 'intimidation'. If I win the lottery I think it might be on my list!!
8:51 here - I ordered my cameo in December as a pre-order from Oh My Crafts to ship on January 16th. They sent me a reminder type notice in late December and then a shipping notice before or on Jan 16th. I had no issues.
I did ask around because I heard OMC had issues but people said that was before they grew and got a better website.
I had a terrible experience with Oh My Crafts years ago but decided to take my chances with the pre-order for the Cameo. My experience this time around was flawless. I think that they learned something from the embsossing folder fiasco from a few years ago.
08:03 -- Thanks for the heads up about the lifestyle polaroid dies on sale at Impress. One die (a square in a square) is selling for $17!! That's pretty crazy! Even with the discount! Think I'll just use my silhouette.
If you want some more help with learning to use the Cameo, check out Kerri Bradford's classes at JessicaSprague.com. I learned so much from these. And FYI, you can use your Cricut cutting mats in the Cameo
Why doesn't PTI have sales? And I don't count the 5% off for 5-freaking-seconds sale they had in February... that was a joke! Is it in their business model that sales are bad? What do they do if one of their older stamp sets doesn't sell & they have 500 of them sitting in a warehouse? That is a lot of money just sitting around.
I don't understand how they can be content to sit on all that unsold merchandise. Almost every sound business model tries to maximize their sales and revenue. It would behoove NH and the J's to spotlight a couple of older sets each month at at special discounted price. Would give them more cash to order items that sell out fast or to dangle as a carrot in front of their die manufacturer who takes so damn long to do a restock order.
^^^ Not smart enough is more like it. They should put those older sets that they highlight once a month on sale. It would be like a mini release 2 weeks before a new release.
i agree with you 15:00! i love a sale and you put the word sale on anything it sounds so much better and more appealing! they would definitely sell some older items this way
I agree that it is greed that keeps them sitting on old stuff at PTI. I think they have a cash flow problem. Hello? Sell the overstock and you can keep up with current demand!
15:58, I completely agree. I would love a few of the older sets, but those sets are almost always bumped off my "buy list" due to the new releases. If, on the 1st of the month, 2 older sets were discounted 25% for a week, I would totally buy them! It think that is a great idea.
I think PTI is against sales because they are trying to maintain an 'upscale' image. Sales are beneath the "we're so good we can command any price we want to get for our product" attitude they seem to want to foster about themselves. A sale would mean, *gasp*!! they were wrong about being able to sell out of their product at their what-they-consider-to-be premium market price. Maybe they used to be king of the hill and their attitude of superiority had some standing... but not anymore. I think they know having a sale would be a good idea but refuse to out of the same stubborn pride that also keeps them running the business in the ridiculous way (as a sideline to Heskamp Printing) that they do.
I can't speak for how PTI is doing financially now since losing many customers. I wouldn't be surprised if it really hasn't hurt them much because there seems to be many PTI newbies filling the void. However, I see why they don't have sales. It has worked very well for them in past because people continue to spend lots and lots of money with them full well knowing they don't have sales. If I had a company in which the product was in such high demand that people keep buying regardless of the premium price, I wouldn't have sales either.
On a personal note-eventhough I really wish they would have a sale now and again, I actually kind of like the fact that I can purchase at any time and not worry about whether the items will be on sale or I get a coupon the next week.
If you don't like a sentiment in a set, don't use it, or don't buy it. Don't ask that they consider replacing it with something else.... I'm no unicorn, but damn some of these customers get a little ridiculous... Just sayin.
Even high end stores have sales. If Neiman's, Saks, and Coach can do it, a "boutique" stamp company could to. Unless they get the same thrill from an overstocked warehouse that the others get from merchandise flying off the shelves.
News flash PTI - crap will sell if the price is right. Some money is better than 200 sets from 2010 that no one wants to buy for $24.
Where did Rick ever say there would be a new website, much less this week? All I saw was that he said they were going to have a new "system" sometime in July, but "system" could mean lots of things, not necessarily a new website. Could mean new way of filling orders, new setup behind the scenes, etc.
I don't want PTI to have sales, because I like knowing I can buy at any time, without feeling like I have to wait for something to go on sale. Their prices are very competitive to start with, which is why we all buy card stock from them.
I do think from time to time they could offer a sale of some sort. There are a lot older things I'd buy if they were to offer say 25% off or something.
I bought the Silhouette Cameo a few months ago. I hate it. I can never get the intricate cuts to cut well. The mat is either too sticky or not sticky enough and the paper shuffles around. It sits here collecting dust. I would sell it if anyone I knew wanted it, somewhere near me. I have used it maybe 10 times. i bought the online class as well....
Looks like the forum and the website are functioning just fine this morning.
I've considered the Cameo many times. I'm afraid I would be frustrated by it and that's one more reason to keep me out of my craft room. I think I'll stick with dies.
Studio Calico makes the most god-awful patterned paper and kits. I am saddened each time I visit Dawn's blog and see a creation made with their craptastic product.
5:37 , if you do get your box, you should make a video of yourself opening it so that you have proof just in case something is wrong or missing. Actually, anyone that orders should do that. Sad, really.
^^ I can understand where the OP is coming from. It's for this same reason I'm not attending the SAF near me. If I wanted to learn techniques, I'd take a live class at my LSS (or stamping store) or take a class at twopeas. I want actual cards, people!
From Gina K on her FB page this morning: "Very excited to see that two of our brand new card stock colors coming out at the end of this month are in the Pantone Fall Fashion Color report! On trend? Yeah, I think so! ♥"
Christie-I'm sorry you are having troubles with your Cameo. Just a thought...have you replaced the blade at all. Apparently there are some bad blades that came with the cameo. Contact Silhouette about your blade issues. I understand that they have been replacing blades with no hassle. I think it is a wonderful machine, so maybe try that before scrapping it altogether.
Taking a video of yourself opening a PTI box is not proof if there's something missing. PTI will just accuse you of opening the box OFF camera first, removing items(s), then resealing the box and then opening it again on camera! This is PTI people! Everyone is out to take advantage of their generosity remember?! ;-)
I ordered from Skipping Stones Designs and when I inquired as to where my order was I was told the girl who was in charge of shipping had a migraine. Good excuse huh? They promised me a coupon for the inconvenience. It was not included in my order and my emails went unanswered. Needless to say, I'll never order from them again. Has anyone else had problems?
8:27, someone was just trying to stir up shit when they said PTI is closed and the forum is gone. Hence the subsequent comment calling them Chicken Little, which was funny BTW.
^^ Aw, shoot! I was one of the people that ordered right after someone had posted about the Quickutz dies. I paid almost $19 for both. Now you can get both for $12! ARGH!
I just bought some memory box dies. How is it they can sell those dies at such a good price? I bought the rounded fence for $5.60 Canadian dollars! (at my lss)
I got a Tim Holtz Mover and Shaper die today. I had trouble with it in my Cuttlebug. The die practically embedded in my plate and I had to pry it off. Did cut the shape, though! Anyone had trouble with these dies? I know they were made for a Big Shot but usually any other Sizzix die works just fine.
tic-tock, tic-tock.... I'm still waiting on my order. I decided to cash in remaining points and take advantage of people not ordering on the 15th to hold out for stamp-a-failure. I ordered within the hour of after 10PM on the 15th. Label was created on the 17th and that's it.
I did not want the crappy free set and did not have enough items that I want and/or need to get up to $100 anyways.
this board and the forum are full of people planted by nichole heady to build up good spirits. the company is failing and the warehouse is in shambles.
So, I guess I was sleeping earlier this week and missed the following on the international shipping thread. Ball-sy, but I love it!!
*******************
"I'm also ready to walk away. I've had a fabulous shipping buddy for at least a good year now which has helped. And I know posters are always chiming in to offer assistance to internationals but the bottom line is, they shouldn't have to do it. I'm afraid that the kindness of strangers has meant that PTI doesn't need to step up to the plate. And why would they when others pick up the slack. We see it with mix ups in orders and people offer to buy or swap themselves because it's faster and easier. Problem solved and all the company needs to do is issue an "oops" post on the forum. No need for real, lasting change. The forum community has become pretty good at solving it for ourselves. Which is sad in a way."
14:33 The movers and shapers dies will work in either the cuttlebug or big shot as long as you use the special magnetic tray along with the cutting pads.
DT chimed in that PTI "takes a pretty strong stance in trying to do our own thing and not in doing what other companies are already doing" [Dawn] and how "I personally do my best not to support companies that don't respect the hard work and intellectual property rights of others" [Lizzie].
Yowza. Lots of assumptions going on there.
I love how a forum member (SkyNacho) tried to put the DT in their place, noting that "PTI is not the first company with a polaroid style picture frame or three-step roses."
^^ DT needs to cut the "holier than thou" attitude. I expect that shit from Dawn (as her lips are permanently attached to Nichole's butt). Lizzie, didn't know you were as big an a-hole.
I wanted to post that if a company uses commercial-use clip art then we could see sets from different companies with some of the same images. But I didn't want to rile up the masses.
Notice that the videos for SAF will be on You Tube - could be interesting to see how many 'views' they get. Wonder if it will be in the thousands/hundreds/dozens???
So 20:05, how did you come by this info that the warehouse is empty/in shambles? What are you staking out their location in Cinci? I can just picture you now, getting a good look at their place on Google Earth, planning your strategy for concealment. Sitting in your van with tinted windows watching the building from across the street with high power binoculars. Maybe walking into the place with a phony cover story for why you're there... Do everyone a favor, go see your shrink today and tell him you're hearing the voices of the PTI DT in your head.
Hmmmmm, they deleted that forum thread where posters (including some DT) smack that other stamp company and accuse them of stealing ideas. Very telling...
I'll have to look it up on my IE browsing history . . . But I should have seen the "hit delete" coming. Last night Lizzie responded with a long post explaining thatthe stamp set in question did not pass her "sniff" test but profusely apologized if her post "offended anyone."
Um, yeah. How could being called a theif be taken as offensive? (Eyes rolling.)
It is very tragic. Does that mean I should stay home from work today in order to keep the grieving families and injured people in my thoughts? Because I can't do anything else while thinking of them?
I wrote both comments about multitasking and it being tragic. I agree that life doesn't/shouldn't come to a standstill when things like this occur. But I didn't want to come across as heartless.
^^me again, sorry - She apparently designed the stamp set to go with her Spellbinders dies called "Home Sweet Home": http://www.amazon.com/Spellbinders-S5-089-Shapeabilities-Sweet-Templates/dp/B006YMMGD2
Do the sets have similar elements? Yes. Is the TCM set a copy? Not even. The LLH PTI set is has a country, vintage look with lots of folk art elements. The TCM set has a whole different look.
PTI has no room to talk. What about Bells & Boughs? There's a SU set with the exact same name and the same subject matter.
Every idea out there is a rehash or reinterpretation of something else. PTI included.
How can these morons not run some kind of inventory report and stock up before Saturday? One of the sets I want is down to a quantity of 7! And, it's been below 15 for two weeks!
Another, how not to run your business, PSA brought to you by PaperTreyIdiots!
I noticed one of NH's SAF locked threads is gone or hidden. I wonder if she realized the horrible grammar she used and is correcting it? "Myself, along with members of the Design Team..." (can't remember the rest of the sentence)
She apparently needs this lesson: http://grammar.quickanddirtytips.com/me-myself-and-I.aspx
Saying "Members of the Design Team and I..." would be too simple, too straight-forward, too common and plain, wouldn't it? Once again I go back to "If you're going to be the face of a company, especially in the written word, you need to have a grasp on how to use words properly."
I agree 8:36. I think she's trying so hard to project "class". She really has no idea all she is projecting is a lack of knowledge of the English language
So. Customer has problems with Lace Impressions plate.
Nichole's response: "...This particular tool was intended to be used more as an impression plate, with the ability to cut with some extra steps. ..."
Except: The original product description calls it the Lace Impressions die. http://nicholeheady.typepad.com/capture_the_moment/2012/01/introducing-lace-bouquet-think-big-12-handmade-hodgepodge.html
"This month we're introducing a new concept in our line of dies - the Impression Die. Lace Impressions is the first of its kind, allowing you to gain an adaptable look! Run it through your die cutting machine once, and get a gorgeous impression. Run it through multiple times, and you will be able to selectively punch out areas that you want die cut. Would you like a border cut out? Just punch out those pieces. How about just corners? It's easy to determine exactly which pieces you would like to punch out with Lace Impressions. It's a great combination effect."
Summary: Whatever your problem is, it's not really our fault. You misinterpreted what we intended.
The Impression Die - A new concept in our line of dies. It's a die until it doesn't cut for you and suddenly it's an impression plate. Either way- we are right.
She did offer a refund. But if you look at her explanation, it comes off as "well, it's not really a die, it's really an impression plate that sometimes cuts." Which fine. But the description in introducing it specifically calls it a die. So, no. It's not the customer misinterpreting the fact that really it's an impression plate and is wrong in expecting it to cut. If it's not supposed to cut reliably, then don't market it as a die.
I thought Nichole's answer was fully appropriate. She suggested a good tip--putting masking tape on the back of the die in the center, where it wasn't cutting--which I am going to try if I have problems with other dies. And she offered a refund or exchange. I thought her answer was fine.
The word "die" does not necessarily mean cut. I will admit I thought so too.
any of various tools or devices for imparting a desired shape, form, or finish to a material or for impressing an object or material: as a (1): the larger of a pair of cutting or shaping tools that when moved toward each other produce a desired form in or impress a desired device on an object by pressure or by a blow (2): a device composed of a pair of such tools b: a hollow internally threaded screw-cutting tool used for forming screw threads c: a mold into which molten metal or other material is forced d: a perforated block through which metal or plastic is drawn or extruded for shaping
I don't think that Nichole's response directed to the customer was rude. I just think the explanation of how the product really isn't crap was laughable. (Although when you think about it I suppose not being rude is a step...)
So I tested to see if the new shouts over fast shipping were true. I ordered within the first few minutes of release and people much farther away from me have their orders. I have nothing. Not faster shipping for me!
We're gonna need new space for Smack-a-Faire 2012. That video was PAINFUL even to FF. Jessica & Erin seem to be the only ones comfortable on camera. Is it mean to wonder why some look SO different to their blog pics? Good heavens Heady.
I thought the video was fine. Most seemed a bit uncomfortable though, I would be too. Everyone seemed nice, friendly, and eager to have fun. I won't bash anyone's looks , but I think Danielle Flanders was really pretty. Do I have to say it... No I'm not her! :) I look forward to seeing the events, and projects, but won't be buying this weekend. The way this co operates is awful, and can only imagine how screwed up those orders are going to be. Good luck to those who do!
About the Impressions die, NH's response is what she does wrong over, and over again. I don't think she will ever get it. She seems to be AOk with disappointed customers! I'm completely astounded by this. They have some products I would love to have, but I won't do it since reading her responses to problems. Jeez get a clue Nichole!
I didn't perceive Nicole's response to be rude but then I'm not all about picking on her like most people here. It's wrong to do that to anyone. I enjoyed the videos. The gals are all so pretty.
WTF is up with all the "I don't think Nichole's response was rude" comments (re: lace impressions die). No one said she was rude. Rather, she misrepresented.
Her attitude doesn't excuse her pitiful excuse, er, response to the OP. Guess you same folks wouldn't be upset if somebody took a big old dump on your front yard but smiled (and said thank you) as they did so.
Definitely not a 'sheeple' here, but I do have to say I enjoyed the videos. A quick snippet from each of them was nice. Was also pleasantly surprised to find out at least a couple of the DT members are meeting up with PTI fans/customers to spend the day. That is nice.
The Impression Die - A new concept in our line of dies. It's a die until it doesn't cut for you and suddenly it's an impression plate. Either way- we are right.
From the beginning of PTI, I don't think I ever remember NH actually thanking her DT members in the way she has just done on her blog. Better 5-years and a dozen-DT-members late, than never I suppose.
Some of the videos were painful to watch. Nichole should've just shot from straight on because we all know what looking up is about. Jessica Witty made me laugh. Maile seemed super shy. Heard ACN's DH counting her down at the beginning of her video. Whoops! Dawn needed to shoot in landscape, not portrait mode. I'll give it 2.5 out of 5 stars.
I like the idea of the video, but you barely even hear Dawn or Danielle. Maile seemed super uncomfortable and I loved Nichole's use of angles to make herself appear thinner
Like many things PTI does, it was good in theory but very poorly executed.
Long-time lurker FIRST time poster!

ReplyDeleteI haven't thought of culottes in quite a few years.

ReplyDelete^^ great news! After someone posted the link here yesterday, I went ahead and ordered both Lifestyle Crafts dies. Excited to try it!!!

7:37 - The cameo is the first electronic die cut machine I've ever used. I got it, opened the box and was cutting within 15 minutes.
ReplyDeleteI was also intimidated and ready for a frusterating time but I was pleasently surprised at how simple it is.
You can download the software and play with it without having a machine.
It is well worth the money. Order from Oh My Crafts with a coupon. I got mine for $216?

I have ordered from OMC without issues. But never anything as big or expensive as a Cameo.
ReplyDeleteRiddle me this. Why doesn't PTI send me a shipping notice when my package ships? I checked my inbox and spam folder.
Have you tried logging into the website for a tracking number? Maybe they are no longer sending out the fake shipping notices via email.
ReplyDelete^^^ I've heard bad things about Oh My Crafts.
ReplyDelete=================
In any event, my experince was good.
I had a terrible experience with Oh My Crafts years ago but decided to take my chances with the pre-order for the Cameo. My experience this time around was flawless. I think that they learned something from the embsossing folder fiasco from a few years ago.
ReplyDeleteI second the good reviews for Oh My Crafts. Customer service is excellent; all my emails have been answered within 24 hrs (or less).
ReplyDelete08:03 -- Thanks for the heads up about the lifestyle polaroid dies on sale at Impress. One die (a square in a square) is selling for $17!! That's pretty crazy! Even with the discount! Think I'll just use my silhouette.
ReplyDelete^^^ no such animal on the Impress website.
ReplyDeleteIf you want some more help with learning to use the Cameo, check out Kerri Bradford's classes at JessicaSprague.com. I learned so much from these. And FYI, you can use your Cricut cutting mats in the Cameo
ReplyDeleteGina is having a sale. Yes, a S.A.L.E. What a concept, eh?
ReplyDelete50% of all stamp duos and 25% off Gina K.patterened paper packs.
ReplyDeleteI don't understand how they can be content to sit on all that unsold merchandise.
ReplyDeleteThey are too greedy to have a sale.
ReplyDelete^^^ Not smart enough is more like it. They should put those older sets that they highlight once a month on sale. It would be like a mini release 2 weeks before a new release.
ReplyDeletei agree with you 15:00! i love a sale and you put the word sale on anything it sounds so much better and more appealing! they would definitely sell some older items this way
ReplyDeleteI agree that it is greed that keeps them sitting on old stuff at PTI. I think they have a cash flow problem. Hello? Sell the overstock and you can keep up with current demand!
ReplyDelete15:58, I completely agree. I would love a few of the older sets, but those sets are almost always bumped off my "buy list" due to the new releases. If, on the 1st of the month, 2 older sets were discounted 25% for a week, I would totally buy them! It think that is a great idea.
ReplyDeleteI think PTI is against sales because they are trying to maintain an 'upscale' image.
ReplyDeletePTI sure is a snooty company.
ReplyDeleteI can't speak for how PTI is doing financially now since losing many customers.
ReplyDeleteOn a personal note-eventhough I really wish they would have a sale now and again, I actually kind of like the fact that I can purchase at any time and not worry about whether the items will be on sale or I get a coupon the next week.
That's why the do those "revisited" post! To get you to buy what's not selling or what they have a lot of. They are too greedy to do any sales!
ReplyDeleteIf you don't like a sentiment in a set, don't use it, or don't buy it. Don't ask that they consider replacing it with something else.... I'm no unicorn, but damn some of these customers get a little ridiculous... Just sayin.
ReplyDeleteEven high end stores have sales. If Neiman's, Saks, and Coach can do it, a "boutique" stamp company could to. Unless they get the same thrill from an overstocked warehouse that the others get from merchandise flying off the shelves.
ReplyDeleteNews flash PTI - crap will sell if the price is right. Some money is better than 200 sets from 2010 that no one wants to buy for $24.
Forum is down..... Must be time for pruning
ReplyDeleteMaybe we are getting the update that Rick mentioned??
ReplyDeleteI think Rick said the new website would be here this week?????
ReplyDeleteWhere did Rick ever say there would be a new website, much less this week? All I saw was that he said they were going to have a new "system" sometime in July, but "system" could mean lots of things, not necessarily a new website. Could mean new way of filling orders, new setup behind the scenes, etc.
ReplyDeleteI don't want PTI to have sales, because I like knowing I can buy at any time, without feeling like I have to wait for something to go on sale. Their prices are very competitive to start with, which is why we all buy card stock from them.
ReplyDeleteI am able to get into the Forum
ReplyDeleteI do think from time to time they could offer a sale of some sort. There are a lot older things I'd buy if they were to offer say 25% off or something.
ReplyDelete"Unless they get the same thrill from an overstocked warehouse that the others get from merchandise flying off the shelves."
ReplyDelete*************************
Love it! Freaking hysterical!
One reason I won't use stickers, a cutting machine, etc. is because they feel like cheating more than stamping.
ReplyDeleteI bought the Silhouette Cameo a few months ago. I hate it. I can never get the intricate cuts to cut well. The mat is either too sticky or not sticky enough and the paper shuffles around. It sits here collecting dust. I would sell it if anyone I knew wanted it, somewhere near me. I have used it maybe 10 times. i bought the online class as well....
ReplyDeletethe forum is gone
ReplyDelete^^^What?
ReplyDeletepapertrey is closed
ReplyDeleteLooks like the forum and the website are functioning just fine this morning.
ReplyDeleteI've considered the Cameo many times. I'm afraid I would be frustrated by it and that's one more reason to keep me out of my craft room. I think I'll stick with dies.
I hope no one placed a release order! They'll never see their products or money for sure
ReplyDelete^^ stop it, Chicken Little. My release order is out of delivery today.
ReplyDeleteChicken little! LOL!
ReplyDelete0348 put down the crack pipe
ReplyDeleteLucky you ... Mine got to USPS but the current status is missent. Damn box better get to me. I cashed in all my rewards points for it.
ReplyDeleteStudio Calico makes the most god-awful patterned paper and kits. I am saddened each time I visit Dawn's blog and see a creation made with their craptastic product.
ReplyDelete^^, yeah, I don't understand the appeal. Some of their DT members are good, really good, but the product is blah.
ReplyDeleteEvery single Pure Innocence card looks the same to me.
ReplyDelete5:37 , if you do get your box, you should make a video of yourself opening it so that you have proof just in case something is wrong or missing. Actually, anyone that orders should do that. Sad, really.
ReplyDeleteHow did they get fab frames stamp set back in stock so soon?
ReplyDeleteWhy did someone above think PTI closed? Just curious...
^^ I can understand where the OP is coming from. It's for this same reason I'm not attending the SAF near me. If I wanted to learn techniques, I'd take a live class at my LSS (or stamping store) or take a class at twopeas. I want actual cards, people!
ReplyDelete^^ Ok, I had posted about another comment. Looks like it was deleted. Hmmmm . . .
ReplyDeleteFrom Gina K on her FB page this morning:
ReplyDelete"Very excited to see that two of our brand new card stock colors coming out at the end of this month are in the Pantone Fall Fashion Color report! On trend? Yeah, I think so! ♥"
Yeah! Some trendy colors!
ReplyDeleteI also double cut So that may help as well
ReplyDeleteAlthough I've experienced the paper either sticking to the mat or moving around while cutting.
The more I use it the less those issues occur
Taking a video of yourself opening a PTI box is not proof if there's something missing. PTI will just accuse you of opening the box OFF camera first, removing items(s), then resealing the box and then opening it again on camera! This is PTI people! Everyone is out to take advantage of their generosity remember?!
ReplyDelete;-)
I ordered from Skipping Stones Designs and when I inquired as to where my order was I was told the girl who was in charge of shipping had a migraine. Good excuse huh? They promised me a coupon for the inconvenience. It was not included in my order and my emails went unanswered. Needless to say, I'll never order from them again. Has anyone else had problems?
ReplyDeleteFab Frames is back in stock? Bet they only put half the original shipment in the system on release night.
ReplyDelete8:27, someone was just trying to stir up shit when they said PTI is closed and the forum is gone. Hence the subsequent comment calling them Chicken Little, which was funny BTW.
ReplyDeleteThere's only 100 Fab Frames. Maybe they found them sitting on a pallet behind some construction materials.
ReplyDeleteam i the only one who can't wait for stamp-a-crap to be over? i'm sick seeing their summer camp graphics on the blog.
ReplyDeleteThe QuicKutz Instant Photo Die is temporarily out of stock at Amazon, but is only $7.64 if you pre-order. They will charge you when it ships.
ReplyDelete^^ Aw, shoot! I was one of the people that ordered right after someone had posted about the Quickutz dies. I paid almost $19 for both. Now you can get both for $12! ARGH!
ReplyDeleteYes, I'm sick of the looking at the stamp a crap too. That whole thing with tote and junk is annoying. It can't be over soon enough.
ReplyDeleteI just bought some memory box dies. How is it they can sell those dies at such a good price? I bought the rounded fence for $5.60 Canadian dollars! (at my lss)
ReplyDeleteAccording to one of the PTI forum members, the fab frames polaroid die DOES fit the PL sleeves.
ReplyDeletehttp://twitter.com/jcmom04/status/226026620610306048/photo/1
Huh, who knew?
I cut a piece of paper to Nichole's dims and it does NOT fit in my protectors.
ReplyDeleteI have the original batch, maybe when they were reformulated they are now a 3x4 size?
My guess is that NH just rounded the actual dimensions up to 3x4 instead of listing the exact dimensions.
ReplyDelete3 x 4 is probably the dimension for the die, which will produce a slightly smaller die cut.
ReplyDeleteNichole probably gave the outer dimension of the die, which is what she usually does, not the size of the die cut.
ReplyDeletewell her laziness cost her a sale then because I would have bought them both but now that they are out of stock I won't be buying them now
ReplyDeleteI just cut one of the Polaroid frames, and it truly does measure 3x4 inches. But we've seen the proof on the forum that it does fit the PL pages.
ReplyDeleteIs the frame opening a good size for something like an Instagram pic?
ReplyDeleteThe frame opening is 2.5x2.5 inches.
ReplyDeleteI got a Tim Holtz Mover and Shaper die today. I had trouble with it in my Cuttlebug. The die practically embedded in my plate and I had to pry it off. Did cut the shape, though! Anyone had trouble with these dies? I know they were made for a Big Shot but usually any other Sizzix die works just fine.
ReplyDeleteWhat comes to your mind when you see the sign behind the guest speaker at cha?
ReplyDeletehttp://www.scrapbookupdate.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/07/20120717-092133.jpg
That photo in that link says it all.
ReplyDeletemaybe you just need to use a sandwich in your cuttlebug that isn't quite so tight.
ReplyDeletetoo bad nobody at PTI goes to CHA.
ReplyDeletetic-tock, tic-tock.... I'm still waiting on my order. I decided to cash in remaining points and take advantage of people not ordering on the 15th to hold out for stamp-a-failure. I ordered within the hour of after 10PM on the 15th. Label was created on the 17th and that's it.
ReplyDeleteI did not want the crappy free set and did not have enough items that I want and/or need to get up to $100 anyways.
It'll get there soon enough. Lots of people on the forum have their release orders already, which I think is pretty fast.
ReplyDeletethis board and the forum are full of people planted by nichole heady to build up good spirits. the company is failing and the warehouse is in shambles.
ReplyDeleteThe warehouse is in shambles huh? Would love to see pics of that.
ReplyDeletechicken little is back...
ReplyDelete^^ LOL
ReplyDeleteSo, I guess I was sleeping earlier this week and missed the following on the international shipping thread. Ball-sy, but I love it!!
ReplyDelete*******************
15:37, can you photoshop a little PTI sign on the empty table? LOL
ReplyDelete15:37 OMG that it so awesome!!
ReplyDelete14:33
ReplyDeleteThe movers and shapers dies will work in either the cuttlebug or big shot as long as you use the special magnetic tray along with the cutting pads.
16:37 you are full of sh%&
ReplyDelete17:00 Then walk away and quit bitching. It is what it is right now. Get over it.
ReplyDelete^^^ that was meant for icequeen who posted it on the forum.
ReplyDeleteDid I miss anyone talking about the besties vacationing at the Inn at Biltmore together? I checked it out and it typically a $400/night kind of place.
ReplyDeleteDid they stay at the Grove Park Inn?? I don't remember reading that part.
ReplyDeleteOn the forum, someone posted about a stamp set that resembles PTI's Love Lives Here.
ReplyDeletehttp://forum.papertreyink.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=37233
DT chimed in that PTI "takes a pretty strong stance in trying to do our own thing and not in doing what other companies are already doing" [Dawn] and how "I personally do my best not to support companies that don't respect the hard work and intellectual property rights of others" [Lizzie].
Yowza. Lots of assumptions going on there.
I love how a forum member (SkyNacho) tried to put the DT in their place, noting that "PTI is not the first company with a polaroid style picture frame or three-step roses."
Amen!
^^ DT needs to cut the "holier than thou" attitude. I expect that shit from Dawn (as her lips are permanently attached to Nichole's butt). Lizzie, didn't know you were as big an a-hole.
ReplyDeleteI wanted to post that if a company uses commercial-use clip art then we could see sets from different companies with some of the same images. But I didn't want to rile up the masses.
ReplyDelete^^, oh, go for it! The forums are a snooze fest lately. ;)
ReplyDeletenicole heady is an alien from the planet vega using pti as a cover. her true identity will soon be revealed.
ReplyDelete18:01 is also an alien trying to cover up the fact that the warehouse is empty
ReplyDeleteLook at them smacking another company on the forum:
ReplyDeletehttp://forum.papertreyink.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=37233&sid=20d28282edbbd63c3ff04f195e81033c
Notice that the videos for SAF will be on You Tube - could be interesting to see how many 'views' they get. Wonder if it will be in the thousands/hundreds/dozens???
ReplyDelete21:54
ReplyDeleteYeah - PTI have so much integrity don't they.
Shame on all the posters for casting aspersions on someone else's integrity.
Actually, Dawn made it clear that similarities are a part of the business and that she didn't think this was a case of copying.
ReplyDeleteSo 20:05, how did you come by this info that the warehouse is empty/in shambles? What are you staking out their location in Cinci? I can just picture you now, getting a good look at their place on Google Earth, planning your strategy for concealment. Sitting in your van with tinted windows watching the building from across the street with high power binoculars. Maybe walking into the place with a phony cover story for why you're there...
ReplyDeleteDo everyone a favor, go see your shrink today and tell him you're hearing the voices of the PTI DT in your head.
00:40, but Dawn also tried to say that PTI was "above" such deplorable behavior (i.e. copying). LMAO!!!!!
ReplyDeleteHmmmmm, they deleted that forum thread where posters (including some DT) smack that other stamp company and accuse them of stealing ideas. Very telling...
ReplyDeleteLibel, anyone???
Awww, it was deleted before I got a chance to read it. Bummer. What was the other company anyway?
ReplyDeleteI'll have to look it up on my IE browsing history . . . But I should have seen the "hit delete" coming. Last night Lizzie responded with a long post explaining thatthe stamp set in question did not pass her "sniff" test but profusely apologized if her post "offended anyone."
ReplyDeleteUm, yeah. How could being called a theif be taken as offensive? (Eyes rolling.)
Please put the smacking aside for a few and send positive thoughts/prayers to the families affected by the senseless, mindless shooting in CO.
ReplyDelete^^ who says we can't multitask?
ReplyDelete^^ in all seriousness, it is very sad and tragic.
ReplyDeleteIt is very tragic. Does that mean I should stay home from work today in order to keep the grieving families and injured people in my thoughts? Because I can't do anything else while thinking of them?
ReplyDeleteI wrote both comments about multitasking and it being tragic. I agree that life doesn't/shouldn't come to a standstill when things like this occur. But I didn't want to come across as heartless.
ReplyDeleteCat's Meow. It was their newest set by Nina B called "Love Dwells Here" House with a heart in it, wings, dies.
ReplyDeleteTheir blog post here:
http://thecraftsmeowshop.blogspot.com/2012/07/introducing-love-dwells-here.html
The deal in CO is tragic. P&PT for the families of those killed, and recovery for those injured.
^^me again, sorry -
ReplyDeleteShe apparently designed the stamp set to go with her Spellbinders dies called "Home Sweet Home":
http://www.amazon.com/Spellbinders-S5-089-Shapeabilities-Sweet-Templates/dp/B006YMMGD2
Spellbinders & TCM plotting together to steal PTI's ideas. *snort*
ReplyDeleteOh and thanks for the link. I missed the thread.
ReplyDelete06:59, I know, right? It's a massive conspiracy!
ReplyDeleteI am going to stay home from work today to grieve. I won't even use the toilet.
ReplyDeleteeveryone steals. but calling it love dwells here is over the top stealing. don't care as i stopped buying from pti ages ago
ReplyDelete8:03 You're delusional.
ReplyDeleteDo the sets have similar elements?
ReplyDeleteAnother, how not to run your business, PSA brought to you by PaperTreyIdiots!
I noticed one of NH's SAF locked threads is gone or hidden. I wonder if she realized the horrible grammar she used and is correcting it? "Myself, along with members of the Design Team..." (can't remember the rest of the sentence)
ReplyDeleteShe apparently needs this lesson:
http://grammar.quickanddirtytips.com/me-myself-and-I.aspx
Saying "Members of the Design Team and I..." would be too simple, too straight-forward, too common and plain, wouldn't it? Once again I go back to "If you're going to be the face of a company, especially in the written word, you need to have a grasp on how to use words properly."
I agree 8:36. I think she's trying so hard to project "class". She really has no idea all she is projecting is a lack of knowledge of the English language
ReplyDeleteThe dumb millionaire is still a millionaire.
ReplyDeleteHTH
She won't be a millionaire for long the way that things are going.
ReplyDeleteBy starting with "Myself", she's keeping herself first. Not a big surprise to me, even if she has to butcher the language to do it.
ReplyDeleteHa! Very good point, 9:29.
ReplyDeletehttp://forum.papertreyink.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=37239#p408860
ReplyDeleteSo. Customer has problems with Lace Impressions plate.
Nichole's response:
"...This particular tool was intended to be used more as an impression plate, with the ability to cut with some extra steps.
ReplyDeleteAlthough I'm a smacker and not a uni I feel that Nichole's comment was misrepresented above. She did provide the option to the customer of a refund.
ReplyDeleteBut yes, generally "It's not our fault" happens most of the time.
ReplyDeleteI thought Nichole's answer was fully appropriate. She suggested a good tip--putting masking tape on the back of the die in the center, where it wasn't cutting--which I am going to try if I have problems with other dies. And she offered a refund or exchange. I thought her answer was fine.
ReplyDeleteWhat other companies sell layered roses sets similar to Sweet Life?
ReplyDeleteThe word "die" does not necessarily mean cut. I will admit I thought so too.
ReplyDeleteany of various tools or devices for imparting a desired shape, form, or finish to a material or for impressing an object or material: as a (1): the larger of a pair of cutting or shaping tools that when moved toward each other produce a desired form in or impress a desired device on an object by pressure or by a blow (2): a device composed of a pair of such tools b: a hollow internally threaded screw-cutting tool used for forming screw threads c: a mold into which molten metal or other material is forced d: a perforated block through which metal or plastic is drawn or extruded for shaping
^^ HOGWASH! If you're going to interpret the word "die" as such, then that means we (customers) should not expect ANY of PTI's dies to cut paper.
ReplyDeleteNichole's explanation is total bullshit. Of course she is going to offer the option of a refund. She has to . . . BECAUSE THE PRODUCT IS TOTAL CRAP!
13:39, Stampin Up sells a set called Stippled Blossoms. And I believe the majority of the Kitchen Sink stamps are multi-layered.
ReplyDeleteTotally agree with 15:33!!! The whole thing is a joke! From the product to Nichole's response.
ReplyDeleteRegarding this die/ impression issue, this is just another reason I won't buy from PTI.
ReplyDeleteIt's funny, just when I'm thinking of cashing in my measly 17 PTI points, Nichole reminds me again not to do this.
Thanks Nichole for helping me save money!!!
I don't think that Nichole's response directed to the customer was rude. I just think the explanation of how the product really isn't crap was laughable. (Although when you think about it I suppose not being rude is a step...)
ReplyDeleteSo I tested to see if the new shouts over fast shipping were true. I ordered within the first few minutes of release and people much farther away from me have their orders. I have nothing. Not faster shipping for me!
ReplyDeleteAliens from Vega are known to be quite bitchy. I am not surprised by her behavior. We should be more tolerant.
ReplyDeleteSU's Stippled Blossoms is far prettier than the PTI layered roses.
ReplyDeleteuuuggghh..why did I watch that Shit-a-faire meet and greet video? Looking at Nichole made my stomach hurt.
ReplyDeleteWe're gonna need new space for Smack-a-Faire 2012. That video was PAINFUL even to FF. Jessica & Erin seem to be the only ones comfortable on camera. Is it mean to wonder why some look SO different to their blog pics? Good heavens Heady.
ReplyDeleteWhere is the video you refer to?
ReplyDelete^^ LOL. I thought Melissa was going to show us her whole house.
ReplyDeleteThe video is on Nichole's blog. Scroll down to the second post.
ReplyDeleteI thought everyone looked fine, except maybe Melissa P, but she had to film herself, so of course that is hard.
Video was AWFUL!
ReplyDeleteI thought the video was fine.
ReplyDeleteI imagined Melissa P's house to be much more frou frou than it was. Compared to her card style, her house was very plain.
ReplyDeleteAbout the Impressions die, NH's response is what she does wrong over, and over again. I don't think she will ever get it. She seems to be AOk with disappointed customers! I'm completely astounded by this. They have some products I would love to have, but I won't do it since reading her responses to problems. Jeez get a clue Nichole!
ReplyDeleteI didn't perceive Nicole's response to be rude but then I'm not all about picking on her like most people here. It's wrong to do that to anyone.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed the videos. The gals are all so pretty.
16:16 Then why did you watch it? It's so obvious that you hate PTI. You do it to criticize don't you?
ReplyDeleteSo, when I look at the PTI storefront, I keep seeing "Little Hatred" anyone else....(supposed to be hotrod)
ReplyDeleteLOL at the angle of NH's video. Hey, I've got double chins, too. Own 'em, girl. Don't shoot from a ladder.
ReplyDeleteWTF is up with all the "I don't think Nichole's response was rude" comments (re: lace impressions die). No one said she was rude. Rather, she misrepresented.
ReplyDeleteHer attitude doesn't excuse her pitiful excuse, er, response to the OP. Guess you same folks wouldn't be upset if somebody took a big old dump on your front yard but smiled (and said thank you) as they did so.
I believe it is perfectly ok to judge others...if you are perfect
ReplyDeleteWhat is with the hillbilly music? Is is synonymous to camping?
ReplyDeleteLOL, The Clampetts struck oil!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely not a 'sheeple' here, but I do have to say I enjoyed the videos. A quick snippet from each of them was nice. Was also pleasantly surprised to find out at least a couple of the DT members are meeting up with PTI fans/customers to spend the day. That is nice.

YES!
The Impression Die - A new concept in our line of dies. It's a die until it doesn't cut for you and suddenly it's an impression plate. Either way- we are right.
ReplyDelete------------------
LMAO!
From the beginning of PTI, I don't think I ever remember NH actually thanking her DT members in the way she has just done on her blog. Better 5-years and a dozen-DT-members late, than never I suppose.
ReplyDeleteSome of the videos were painful to watch.
ReplyDelete^^ Perfect synopsis.
ReplyDeleteWth was with the kayak?! Is that how she is getting to Minneapolis?
ReplyDeleteAlso Maile looks like she is about 15 years old.
