That was quick!

Here is a new post fresh from the uh... Blog oven.

208 comments:

  1. Steph posted on the last space here and I just didn't want it to get missed by so many of her supporters, so I've copied it here in italics:

" The offensive part of Steph's post was not what she said about back formations and spelling. It was this:
Clearly it was my misunderstanding that PTI only wanted to offer quality products.

    ______

    That's pretty rude.

Hi everyone! STEPH here. I wasn't sure if this blog was still active, but I see it definitely is. And Rick is here too. I haven't commented here before, but that's not because I don't agree with a lot of what is said. I just haven't had a legitimate reason to. Today I do.

First of all, thank you for the supportive comments and for defending my character. It's comforting to know that after four years on the forum you have a pretty clear idea of the kind of person I am. Thank you!

Secondly, and I won't beat a dead horse (Cindy ;-}), I was getting frustrated that the actual issue of the misspelled word wasn’t being addressed, or at least I didn’t think it was.

And finally, y’all will really get a kick out of this..........it wasn’t the “Clearly it was my misunderstanding that PTI only wanted to offer quality products” comment that gave me a warning. It was something I said in my, “Hi Dawn! Thanks for your input…” reply. The warning was in reference to that post. My warning PM was sent to me at 11:25. I posted the “Clearly it was my misunderstanding that PTI only wanted to offer quality products” comment at 11:39, after I received the warning PM. How ‘bout them apples!

I wanted to reply to the warning PM to ask if Dawn received a warning as well, but we all know that replying is disabled. Oh well....it is what it is, to each his own, agree to disagree, live and let live, etc.

Sorry for the very long comment. I'm not used to this small little box.

  5. That one post by Ted forever changed my opinion of him. He is a creeper, as my nieces would say.

  6. Ted. Gross. Beyond words. Rick, that shit is unacceptable. And I have pretty thick skin. But damn, gross.

    ReplyDelete
  7. It's pretty sad when the release night tech help forum has more posts than the release night party forum does. PTI sucks royal.

    ReplyDelete
  8. We'll know if Ted gets a warning or anything else because he'll post a gigantic apology for anything and everything he's ever said or done. And all the nellies will come running to hug on him with smilies and hearts. Vomit.

    ReplyDelete
  9. what did ted say that was so creepy? i missed it - busy arguing about a refund i'll probably never see :(

  10. So, I just went back and re-read Steph's "Hi Dawn..." post that drew a warning. NH and Dawn need to step away from the crack pipes. There's no way in hell that Steph's response was rude, offensive or anything else warning worthy. As a moderator on a large forum, I only wish I had people like Steph on my boards (especially my debate boards). I could use people that articulate, and that respectful on the boards I mod. That warning was totally for pissing off NH and Dawn.

And Steph, the apology post? Best. Post. Ever.

Ted's post to Ashley? Disgusting. Not warning worthy either, but definitely worth a reminder that "this is a 'family-friendly' forum and you're pushing it."

  11. How many stamp sets do you think PTI orders for a release? The strawberry set has 691 left while the trees have 391. Garden var. also has in the 600 left. I wonder if this is pretty typical?

    ReplyDelete
  12. Ted got "sexual" with her and it was just plain icky.

I cannot find the post that got Steph the warning.

    ReplyDelete
  13. looks like the zendesk forum for customer service is working well...they probably have no intentions to actually address issues, they just wanted the "complainey" comments off the regular forum

    ReplyDelete
  14. A poster on the last thread said she thinks PTI's constant supply issues are due more to cash flow problems than manufacturer problems.

    I couldn't agree more.

This release was huge, and everything seemed kind of...forced? I'm a teacher. It's usually not difficult to differentiate which kids did their projects the night before and who actually put time into them. This release seemed like it was quickly thrown together, whereas most of their previous releases seemed well-thought out and planned-for.

I think the titles are pretty and I'll happily use them to make pretty things. Plural, not plural, it's all good. It's kind of like when my It's Official stamp set came out.....there were people that were frustrated that the bingo card wasn't truly an "official" bingo card because of some of the numbers I chose to use -- which were special to me, like my hubby's birthday and such -- aren't on a real bingo card. But I designed it, and I felt like I could take those liberties because the idea wasn't for anyone to be able to make an actual game of bingo with the stamp.....it's just so that we can add a fun little bingo card to our projects. There are lots of other bingo cards out on the market that have words like "Hello" and such across the top......obviously those aren't "official" either, but they're still awfully fun to use in crafty projects. I think this set is the same. It's a $5 set of titles you can add to your seed packets to give them a bit more realistic flair.

    Steph wrote:
Hi Dawn! Thanks for your input. I see what you're saying and I completely get a designer having creative liberties when designing a stamp set, but in this case it just doesn't seem appropriate in my opinion.

    1. Nichole mentioned that the set was created after numerous customer requests. If it was truly a set that was designed for the customers, it probably wasn't the best time to express said creative liberties; especially if that meant changing the spelling of a word to one that both, contradicted the word in the coordinating set and was a "created" word.
    2. It's difficult adding a "realistic flair" if the words are grammatically incorrect. Like Roses Bulbs or Mums Seeds.
    3. With regards to creative liberties, I think an appropriate comparison between Bingo cards that have different title letters than B-I-N-G-O and the YOF Title set would be if the YOF Title set used different words for the seeds like friendship, gratitude, or good luck seeds.

I truly don't mean to find fault or be disrespectful. I love the idea of having the actual flower names sized to fit the frames for the seed packet. I just think it may be a good idea to give more consideration and thought to what has been mentioned and perhaps rework the set. At least consider the idea. Maybe sell the current set "as is" at half the price to at least cover the cost of the set. Kind of like when the "Think Ink" t-shirts were sold at a discounted price and then eventually given away because of a misspelled word. Just my 2 cents.

  16. How do you see how many items they have in stock? I don't see it on my browser.

I had the question on the wrong blog post ... repeated here :)

    ReplyDelete
  17. @ 21:21 - just add the item to your cart, then click on edit item and put a number like "99999999" in the quantity, save changes, and it will automatically change the number to the number available for purchase.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Add the item to your cart and then edit it to a large number. It will show how many are in stock.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Thanks for the Dawn/Steph post and Steph was TOTALLY respectful and the discussion was warranted. It is like the PTI owners and some of the dt have never ending PMS!!

    ReplyDelete
  20. Thanks so much 21:28 and 21:30. Good information to have!

    ReplyDelete
  21. On a previous post someone suggested a (gasp) sale.
SU retire their sets - they usually give you a 4/5 week window to get hold of retiring sets.

Perhaps this could help PTI move some inventory. Would be interesting to just see how much stock is gathering dust on their shelves.

This might help pay for the pool at the 'house that stamps built'.

  22. I doubt very much that Ted realizes that what he said was a bit skeevy. I think this is a social skills issue and not a bad guy issue. A gentle note from Rick (another guy) is better than the holier than thou screaming on this board.

    2. BAHAHABAHA to the people that will wait for their paypal refund because they were charged shipping on orders over $70.....like you'll see that money anytime soon fools!

    ReplyDelete
  24. Well done Steph.
She showed intelligence and class in her posts. This shows that PTI just can't take any form of criticism at all. Steph NEVER said a bad thing about any person so NO ONE had a right to complain. Only PTI who cant own their own mistakes....once again.

    ReplyDelete
  25. What a blissful, relaxing morning! I don't have to worry about shipping charges that shouldn't be, how long it will take my order to ship, if it will get lost in the warehouse, ......

    I love not ordering!!!

Someone in a previous comment said she was putting her PTI money towards a Hawaiian trip and that made it easier to get deal with the countdowns and releases. I decided yesterday to not fund NH's pool but to put my monthly PTI $$ towards my own backyard renovation.

Not to worry, I'll still buy from other companies.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Sorry I didn't notice that it was edited out.

He basically said he wasn't used to being asked by a beautiful woman to rush his performance.

    *creepy*

  36. I <3 rick. I think he's the only person with any sense at that company.

    ReplyDelete
  37. I don't know that anything went out of stock but if you look at the numbers (I think in the last space here?) there were huge quantities of a lot of stuff. Doesn't match up with the speculation that they don't have the cash flow to keep stock.

What I find interesting is that they took so long to send those Simply You sentiments. Awhile back, Nichole said they'd go out on the 3rd (I saw that, too). And now on zendesk it says this:

"Is there an update as to when the corrected sentiment and label from the Simply You set will be sent out? I believe Nichole's last update said that they would ship by April 3rd. Thanks in advance!

All of these shipments were completed between 4/6 and 4/13, with the remaining international shipments today, 4/14."

And didn't she say there were around 500? I believe I've seen where Claire at WMS sent out at least 2000 orders over a weekend.

I think everyone works at PTI part-time (with weekends off).

    ReplyDelete
  38. Agreed about Rick.

    ReplyDelete
  39. It's not a fair comparison to say that Claire sent out 2000 orders over a weekend. Those were probably just regular orders.

These 500 extra sets are on top of any other orders that they may have gotten over that time period.

    ReplyDelete
  40. I like Rick too.

    ReplyDelete
  41. God I hate it when someone is making a valid observation like "I can't find the paypal button" or "the state drop down doesn't work" or "my cart keeps emptying out" and a DT member comes on and says "It works for me!" as if we are somehow lying or making it up! Sheesh. At least Rick makes you feel somewhat validated and gives a reasonable response, even if there is nothing he can do directly.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Thank you to the people/person who bothered to post the link re: Ted

    ReplyDelete
  43. PTI just want to sweep any issues, valid problems with the website, complaints, under the rug and hope no one sees them......hence the zendesk crap that is just another version of "contact CS and dont post it here on the forum for people to see."
Anyone who questions, gets deleted. Help is only there when people are BUYING.

    Much like a communist regime.

I have not seen one single improvement to date.

Opps I am wrong - Rick has at least validated peoples issues.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Simply You sentiments - are they replacing the entire set or just sending out that sentiment?

Wouldn't it just go in an envelope?

    Stick a label on it?

One person could do it in a day.

    ReplyDelete
  45. edited ted's posting

    ReplyDelete
  46. 6:01 I would think it would just be going into an envelope. Remember the original "solution" was to have everyone send a SASE and they would mail it out. Good Lord. They're probably trying to figure out how to lick all of those envelopes. Lol.

  47. Can someone explain to me why AnnieB ( of waited over a year for her anniversary set fame) STILL buys from PTI? I honestly don't get that. Not only did she wait forever for her earned set, PTI was so extremely rude to her in the process. Yet, here she is talking about how her payment went through last night. Help me understand...

    ReplyDelete
  48. I'd love to know if NH reads here. Since I'm one post away from being banned again I'm tempted to send her a link anyway. Just waiting for my stuff to finish selling on the B/S/T forum. LOL.

    ReplyDelete
  49. I wondered the same thing when I saw her posting about whether you have a budget for the release.

It makes me wonder, too. It is the exact reason why PTI can continue with business as usual.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Rick I sure hope the website developers are paying PTI for the experience & training. I would never understand if you were paying them one penny for this mess.

    ReplyDelete

  59. You know one thing I've wondered for a long time? Why in the world are the releases on the 15th instead of, say, the third Monday of the month? Doing it that way would prevent having the release ever fall on a weekend, and would give several consecutive post office days to get things moving.

As for the website, I cannot believe that it's still in such a giant mess. I swear, it's been 15 years since I was a programmer, and I guarantee that I have zero experience with whatever language they're using. But just in the time since the new site was released in February, I could have taught myself the language and fixed the damned thing. As could any real programmer. There is simply no excuse for this. Heads should have rolled months ago, and better heads should have taken over.

  72. Ted probably knows.

Do you have to have a certain number of people reporting your post before you get a board warning? I don't know how these things work.

    ReplyDelete
  73. So Rick, did Ted get a warning for that post?

    ReplyDelete
  74. I edited his post to remove the offensive content. I did see it was reported but I did not personally "warn" him...I never warn folks...I just edit the offending post..

    ReplyDelete
  75. 7:21 I'd like to know this too. Considering people have been *banned* for less...

    ReplyDelete
  76. "With all due respect, Nichole, you are the only one responding to me in a "timely manner" and all you're really saying is that I've got to keep waiting. You said I'd hear something within 24 hours of your post yesterday - I didn't - that's why I commented again today. I first contacted customer service regarding this issue 5 days ago and got a canned response that my issue would be "looked into" - when you said I'd hear back within 24 hours, I thought you meant I'd finally hear back with a resolution. I think the quality of the responses I received should be considered when deciding if I have been responded to in a "timely manner." Saying my issue will be dealt with "as soon as we can" doesn't tell me anything, which is why I commented here asking for a time frame, because I don't really know what "as soon as we can" and "soon" means."

Way to go Dana! I'm glad you didn't just roll over when NH tried to pull her bitch tone with you.

  77. Did you see how many times it was reported? :-)

  78. So Rick, am I correct to assume that board warnings are issued only if one is a perceived threat to exposing the truth about PTI? Whereas, grotesque sexual innuendos directed at a DT member are overlooked and simply edited?

    Yeah, I thought so.

    ReplyDelete
  79. Oh I get it, as long as you lick Nichole's ass, you won't get a warning and can post offensive stuff! Got it!

i just read through the gladiolas thread and i'm super pissed about how NH ended the conversation.

Let me see if I can unpack some of the hidden meaning:

In an effort to provide full-disclosure, Steph was informed that she was receiving her board warning because of complaints we had received from fellow forum members & peers (MEANING: I NH did not like that you were exposing my error AND arguing with me.) This forum is intended to be a place where everyone feels comfortable sharing opinions (as long as your opinions parallel my own), and when there are other customers letting us know that they are offended or have been made to feel uncomfortable by another member (again, this means ME), warnings are issued according to the TOS. Since this thread is no longer productive (and to keep others from continuing to argue with me on MY forum that I own and can shut you down in a heart beat if I feel so inclined) and posters are not adhering to the TOS, it will be locked (so I have the final say. SO THERE.)

    ReplyDelete
  84. Correct me if I'm wrong but I think that the people who were banned and are now back have dealt with the issue through Rick and have now moved on. You just sound like you have a grudge 7:29.

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  86. Truth is Hostage16 April 2012 at 07:44

7:42, you are wrong. 7:29 is referring to the board warning that JUST HAPPENED yesterday. She isn't dwelling on forum members being banned weeks ago. There is no grudge....it JUST HAPPENED.

    ReplyDelete
  87. Truth is hostage - we can all speculate but I personally feel that there are many sunshine spreaders that would actually send NH messages stating that they don't like certain people and that they feel threatened.

I understand why NH would want to keep the unicorns with deep pockets happy.

I didn't when I dealt with him on another issue - and I mentioned the ban. But that's OK. I don't know if I still hold a grudge, I don't think so - but I would agree: this is one fucked-up company.

    ReplyDelete
  94. I am 7:29 #2. Call it a grudge, fair enough. That doesn't mean I am not justified in holding one. Here are some facts you may not know. There *are* people who were banned that *did not* violate the TOS, they were *not* offensive, and they have not been "unbanned" because they don't hang out on the smack blog and don't know to contact Rick to be reinstated.

On the flip side, is there really any other way to interpret Ted's comment that is *not* a sexual innuendo aimed at a DT member?? I am open to your interpretation.

    ReplyDelete
  95. 7:29 #2 here again. And my friend who is banned? STILL has outstanding CS issues to which no one has responded. Yes, she resubmitted after the delete-all-em's-date, still no response. She can not get sunshiny DT help on the forum b/c she is banned. I have suggested she come here & read, as a lot of "back door info" has been available. She said no thanks, she has her pride. If she can't hold her head up and do business through the proper front door of a business, she's not about to grovel for scraps through a back door. Fair enough.

Can't say I blame her. Grudge? Hell yeah.

    ReplyDelete
  96. 7:29 #2 - I made the grudge comment. Thank you for the additional info and yes, you are justified. My apologies.

  102. Unless you are in their face with sunshine all the time in the forum and talking about how much you are purchasing, I do not believe any of them have a clue who all the big spenders are.

They can barely take care of the basics of fulfilling orders, we don't even know who handles that, and I seriously doubt they are looking at any incoming data other than the bottom line. They do NOT care who is buying what or who is spending, just that the $ comes in.

    IMHO.

  103. Can someone share the title of the post bumped by Omathgoddess?

Rick - "hover view" ??? Any closer?

    ReplyDelete
  104. Omathgoddess's bump was on page one of the "How do you handle criticism?" thread. Totally awesome.

  105. Agreed this Moe woman is living in lalaland. She's another one to not read - she uses about as many smile faces as Ted.

The five stages of criticism response per N.H.

  108. Rick - Maybe you can offer some input about my (Steph) board warning. Since NH stated that the reason I was warned was because she received "complaints" from fellow forum members, does that mean that an official "report" wasn't submitted? And if that's the case, how did NH receive "complaints" from fellow forum members since she has her PM disabled? Maybe it was A or D that received the "complaints"? Just curious since it was my first warning and I didn't see it coming at all. Thanks!

  109. Rick Geymonat said...
07:29 no. just means that I do not warn people...period. If it's offensive then I edit the post. I do not get involved with the warning stuff...I leave that to the moderators.
    -----------------

WTF??? Rick, 4/3/12 @ 5:43 you posted this:

    Rick said...

I got caught up in a bunch of drama the other day and I over-reacted...banning a few people in the process.

    -----------------
So you don't warn, you just ban or prune? Make up your fucking mind!

Ted is treated differently because he fawns all over PTI and Nichole. If it were almost anyone else, they be banned without warning!

The hypocrisy of PTI is very disturbing!

    ReplyDelete
  110. There is a forum you cannot see, where the DT, Nichole, and moderators meet to discuss stuff. I won't speak to your particular situation (cause it's none of my business), but I know in the past customers have sent PMs to the DT and they have been brought to the attention of the PTB through that forum. It''s not so much a forum for them all to discuss issues, as it is a forum for them to communicate about all things PTI related...

    ReplyDelete
  111. I would not be surprised if no one other than Ashley even noticed Ted's comment.

Oh I still think he should get a warning or be banned. I just don't know that anyone else over there even saw it. It was a challenge with what, 2 or 3 people in it?

Same number of replies as the other challenge threads. Elevated views probably because of the discussion here.

    ReplyDelete
  112. That makes a lot of sense, Rick. I've always assumed there was some kind of back channel for them to pow-wow.

    ReplyDelete
  113. So DT are like moderators. If we see something offensive, we should PM all of the DT members and then maybe at least one of them will move it to the top.

Seems like between these duties and the "20-30 projects" Dawn says they are required to do (poor baby), this DT is no picnic. And well.... we all know the other issues with that! (hushed tones.... the dragon lady... ooooohhhhh)

  114. 09:31 Who are you? Come out from behind the anonymous shadow and confront me.

At least I have the courtesy to let you know who you are dealing with.

My actions the other week were uncalled for, and I apologized to all those I banned. I don't usually ban people from the forum. I don't really get involved most of the time. Just doing my best to keep the peace on the forum and resolve issues when I can.

    ReplyDelete
  115. dumped carts, can't add to cart.... why are people still trying??

This is NOT the only place to get stamps, paper and dies!

Just keep clicking on those little cartoons folks. Yeah. That'll help.

    PTI IS a cartoon.

(except Rick, who I think is the only person actually working on anything)

    ReplyDelete
  116. I knew someone was going to bring that up about awhile back - which Rick apologized for.

And he did say that he doesn't get involved with warnings (which I take to mean the PMs, the hand slaps, etc.). He edits out offensive comments and that time he banned. He earned his way out of the doghouse for that one, IMO, and I don't think it's necessary to go there again. Water under the bridge.

So many people here say that if they saw some effort and change from the PTB at PTI, they would soften their tone. If things got fixed, they'd even go back. But here's the one person on the inside who is being reasonable and making an effort, and you blast him.

Uncalled for. I don't care if this is a smack blog. Most of us here are really decent folks.

  118. This cracked me up. The person who couldn't use her Amex GC wrote "Resolved!"

She just ended up not using it!

You know, I used to order every single month at PTI and never did get issued my rose-colored glasses :( .

(To be fair, the trouble she was having may have been a problem typical of online stores when trying to use two g.c. -- just the "resolved" sure put a PTI-positive spin on that one)

Just trying to keep a clear head here.

    ReplyDelete
  120. NH is saying that warnings are because of other complaints?

I got a warning yesterday within minutes of my posting. I just don't buy that my warning was because of other member complaints? If so, maybe I should go give a really long passive-aggressive, attention-seeking apology myself.

    ReplyDelete
  121. BTW, before people agree or disagree, I'm owning up to the 09:46 comment.

And I'm going to make an effort to only post here if I'm comfortable putting my real name on it. I've hidden behind Anon a few times, and I don't feel comfortable doing that anymore.

I have found that if you use your own name, you end up stuck here a lot longer defending your position, but I guess I'll just have to be more judicious about commenting.

Is it fair then to assume that you have emailed those people to let them know they are no longer banned?

    ReplyDelete
  128. 10:01 It would not be fair to assume that. There was a whole list of folks that were given access, as it was easier to select the whole group.

Unfortunately I didn't save the list before I did the fix, so there was no way of knowing who I had just un-banned.

    ReplyDelete
  129. I'll come out too, Nancy.

I'm InkOnMyFace on the forums. I don't visit much and I'm not in the in-crowd so I really don't have anything to hide anyway.

I guess I was afraid that my orders (if I ever did order again) would start disappearing or be riddled with errors once I came out of the Anon closet.

    ReplyDelete
  130. One thing I don't understand on the Re: shipping charge on 71.00 order thread is that TashaKara spent another $25+ to avoid paying $6.50 in shipping. I don't get what the aversion is to paying for shipping. I mean, internationals get screwed sure, but US customers - $6.50 is less than $25. I guess she didn't mind if she was going to order those things anyway.

    ReplyDelete

    ======================
So, Rick, might I kindly and respectfully suggest that these actions (not unlike the anniversary set) might give the impression that innocent customers are as expendable as a lost list? You tell us that the three owners are "smart businesswomen" and that you love them. Since the customers view is only comprised of lost lists, and unjustified bannings, and snarky responses, or no responses at all, Can you understand a bit better how PTI has gotten the reputation that it has? I think that is where the biggest division lies between the smackers and the company.

    ReplyDelete
  134. Rebecca, about ordering more to avoid paying for shipping: I think you guessed it in your last part. If she was going to buy it at some point, she thought it was easier to go ahead and order then than mess with a refund. I hate paying for shipping and never have from PTI. I always order the min amount.

    ReplyDelete
  135. Hi Rebecca!

Yes, Rick, it is freeing. I had posted as myself in the past but also as Anonymous and to those that are more comfortable with that - believe me, I completely understand! This is just more comfortable for me right now. Why? Because I'm more careful with what I say. In some ways, it was very freeing to post as Anonymous! I could really let an insult fly. But I saw a side of myself that I wasn't proud of. Whether or not anyone else knew it was me, I still did.

I was a customer of PTI from the beginning. I didn't start stamping until 2007 but began exploring new companies right out of the gate. And I was onto something when I found PTI. I told all of my friends, who asked "What's PTI?" "What's Papertrey?", that they had the coolest stamps and great cardstock. PTI was always in my top 3 of favorite stamp companies and the rest of the list often changed.

And honestly, I have not had that many problems with orders personally. Once I knew the shipping notices were a sham, I just ignored them. Cardstock came with corners bent - then they fixed it. I tossed my inks when they were garbage and never tried to get the refund. I was involved with the binder issue and don't even remember much about that.

I chalked it all up to experience and figured I knew the pitfalls so just avoid certain things. I used to order on release night and put items in my cart before they were even fully loaded into the store. That ended.

Gradually I discovered that I didn't really like a lot of the stamp designs anymore. I started to forget it was the 14th.

Then I saw all of the issues snowballing, and worst of all, saw how people were being treated. There was no final straw. The SASE thing, the email deletion, the stupid decision to roll out a lousy website. . . and most of all the arrogant attitude. The lack of effort when customers have been so patient. It's mind-boggling.

I've retracted all of my praise of PTI and now do my best to steer people away. And I probably stay in the loop out of curiosity and as much as I am not sure they belong in this business at all, I'll be happy one day to say they've turned it around. I'm just not betting on it.

    End book.

  136. Can you understand a bit better how PTI has gotten the reputation that it has? I think that is where the biggest division lies between the smackers and the company.

  137. Hi all!
I had no idea this blog was up (thought it was shut down last year?!) until recently.
I've just spent WAY more time than I care to admit reading all the back posts.
Quick question: I've seen my name mentioned a few times, as recently as the above comment 7:28.
I have no idea what the thread is about and am assuming it must be another Dana. I've now received PMs on the forum and personal emails about it and I'm utterly clueless!

Oh, and I'm impressed that Rick is here and seems to be a pretty decent guy. What a pleasant surprise:)

    ReplyDelete
  138. I'm puzzled about the in-crowd comment. I've seen that mentioned here before. How do we know who is the in-crowd on the forum? Anyone can post there as much or as little as they want.

    ReplyDelete
  139. There is a Dana with a complaint open in the customer service forum, zendesk. Must be another Dana?

    ReplyDelete
  140. This was Dana's (on zendesk) last post:

With all due respect, Nichole, you are the only one responding to me in a "timely manner" and all you're really saying is that I've got to keep waiting. I think the quality of the responses I received should be considered when deciding if I have been responded to in a "timely manner." Saying my issue will be dealt with "as soon as we can" doesn't tell me anything, which is why I commented here asking for a time frame, because I don't really know what "as soon as we can" and "soon" means.

  141. Ahh, thanks Nancy! I haven't been to the new CS forum yet. Should have thought to check there, but I honestly don't care too much. *chuckle*

    ReplyDelete
  142. Well, Dana, I hope the PMs and email you are receiving are complimentary! They would be if they were from me ;) .

    ReplyDelete
  143. Thank you so much Nancy for your candor and your generosity in taking the time to explain what happened. I worked for PTI in the beginning, and I will say that I tried my best to resolve issues in a timely manner. But that was several years ago.

My hope is the same as yours, that the company will get past all of the troubles with the website and CS...and I am getting as involved as I can to try and help with that endeavor.

I hope this experience has not jaded your view of stamping / crafting in general.. that would be such a shame...

    ReplyDelete
  144. Dana you are right about Rick. I find that he has been helpful and patient. He *listens* and has shown a side that many (most / all?) of us had never known existed. Rick has taken a risk by coming here. Harsh & rude things were said about him before he enlightened us. How many of us thought he was the guy responsible for the awful website?? I did! I'm not saying he's perfect, but it is a huge upgrade to realize that he's human. Lol.

The three owners could learn a LOT from Rick's experience here. Showing a different side of one's self makes a huge difference. NH and Julie haven't learned that yet. I am hoping Rick will enlighten them as well. They (N and J) could not have a worse reputation right now, IMO. Yet, they still hide behind it.

    ReplyDelete
  145. I can see that your intentions are good, Rick. It's a shame that no one gets the impression that anyone else over there really cares or is making any effort.

Not jaded at all :). I still love stamping and quite a few companies now get the PTI share of my budget. And I'm actually deeply involved in the business as a stamp illustrator. I also sell for a direct marketing stamp company that will remain nameless or the less understanding smackers will say I'm putting in a plug ;). I don't want to repeat that!!

There are too many great options out there to let PTI kill the joy.

    ReplyDelete
  146. "it is a huge upgrade to realize that he's human."

You have a way with words!! :)

    ReplyDelete
  147. I am glad to hear that Nancy! I hope you have continued success and happiness in the industry.

    ReplyDelete
  148. Thanks Rick! You too. Glad you're here.

    ReplyDelete
  149. Rick - you didn't apologize to me....and you banned me. And you had the chance. Not that I want it or need it, just sayin', you didn't apologize to EVERYONE.

    ReplyDelete
  150. I thought they were talking about you too, Dana - - granolagirltoo - and I couldn't find it. And I was surprised that you would take Nichole on so boldly.

    ReplyDelete
  151. I thought I had made apologies to everyone. My mistake. I don't know who you are, so I don't know why it didn't happen. I asked those that were banned to send me an email and when they did, I un-banned them and sent them an apology. If I didn't do that for you, it was surely an oversight.

    ReplyDelete
  152. Rick - - I sent you an e-mail....no apology. Just assumed it was because of what I had said that got me banned. No biggie. I am back on the forum and not saying a word which I think is what they prefer from me anyway.

    ReplyDelete
  153. no ma'am...it was not an intentional slight. Here is what my email should have said..

I have unbanned your account and set your password to password. I owe you an apology for over-reacting the other day. If there is anything I can do to make it right please let me know.

    Rick

    ReplyDelete
  154. It's all good...

    ReplyDelete
  155. Not for nothin', but I still wonder if Rick wasn't sent here on behalf of Nichole and company to get us all to come out of anon, sort of bait us all and nail us all or mess with our orders or whatever. I can tell you I had a colossal issue with my order last month and I couldn't ask on the forum because I was banned and the damn thing took 3 weeks to get fixed. And I wonder if it had to do with my comment on the forum that got be banned. Just thinking out loud in boredom.

    ReplyDelete
  156. This is a smack blog and an anon blog. A place to voice our opinion anonymously. Calling out people to show themselves is NOT necessary and should NOT be asked to do so. I value my anonymity. I chose to be anon as so many others do.

This place was set up anonymously a long time before certain people came here and decided to speak as themselves. That was their choice. So no one has a right to call others out. And if you can't respect that then you need to be banned!!! How is that for a table turned.

    ReplyDelete
  157. @12:17 - I get what you're saying, but I really don't think PTI has their collective shit together enough to make an orchestrated effort like that. KWIM?

    ReplyDelete
  158. I asked those that were banned to send me an email and when they did, I un-banned them and sent them an apology
    =====================
So, again, what about those who don't hang out on the smack blog? Are they expendable? Sorry to be difficult, but this is typical PTI reasoning ... as long as the customers come to them (PTI / Rick) and find the odd places where valuable info is hidden, then they will be helped. I don't like that reasoning. I would love if PTI were proactive in fixing *their* mistakes. Own it. Fix it. Too much rests on the customers shoulders too often.

    ReplyDelete
  159. It would also be nice if the apology were made in broad daylight on the forum. There are so many "unicorns" who unfairly think many of us are just troublemakers. Apologizing in the back alley of a smack blog doesn't do much to right that.

    ReplyDelete
  160. 12:24, Get over it. Rick is doing his best. The people who were banned had said things they shouldn't have on PTI's forum (PTI pays for the forum and can make the rules however they want). PTI did not seek out innocent unsuspecting people to randomly ban.

    ReplyDelete
  161. I think Rick has gone over and above by apologizing here and in the e-mails. He has no obligation to apologize to the needlers on the main forum.

    ReplyDelete
  162. 12:17, I'm going to disagree with your theory. Just based on the feeling that the people "in charge" at PTI already seem too lazy to run the company properly. I can't imagine that they'd bother to do all of that.

My guess is you had a colossal problem because it's PTI.

Of course I could be wrong. But the only way to prevent problems with an order is not to order.

12:18: This is the only time I've seen anyone, including Rick, ask someone to come out of Anon. And I don't blame him ~ at least he's here taking the heat, and if that was you, I don't think it was fair of you to call him on the dead issue of bans he's apologized for. I'd have reacted the same as he did in the moment back on 9:31 and 9:40.

Any time I've seen a smacker attack a smacker, they've realized that the people here are not the "enemy" and apologized or at least stepped back. I don't think anyone would disagree that everyone still has the choice to remain Anonymous.

    ReplyDelete
  163. Sorry, 12:34. Not buying that reasoning. Rick himself apologized, saying that there was "no excuse" for banning us, and that he had overreacted on a stressful day.

    ReplyDelete
  164. Dang. 12:22 you said that so much better than me.

    ReplyDelete
  165. Chris, you were the big exception, and I (12:34) was the first who suggested here on that day that you should be unbanned. And then others here said everyone should be unbanned, so Rick did it. Rick was just a big person to apologize to the others. You deserved the apology.

    ReplyDelete
  166. "So, again, what about those who don't hang out on the smack blog? Are they expendable? Sorry to be difficult, but this is typical PTI reasoning ..."

I am going to address this one part of your comment. In my opinion, the ptb might know that Rick is here but they didn't send him here nor do they necessarily condone it. Rick is trying to help out in the best way possible because he cares about PTI and the people that run it. He wants to understand people's frustrations and do what he can to fix problems. Rick does not represent Papertrey as a whole. Rick represents himself and is trying to be a helpful go between.

    ReplyDelete
  167. I appreciate that, but I think that everyone who was banned deserved to be reinstated. Do I think there has been some disrespectful behavior on the forum? Of course there has. But it has come from both sides! PTI has been disrespectful and dismissive of customers' valid concerns and suggestions, which is what got them where they are now. Banning people for saying that the emperor has no clothes is silly and short-sighted. Rick has done a great job here of reversing opinion about him and creating a useful dialog with former adversaries. PTI could learn a lot from this.

    ReplyDelete
  168. 12:43 and Chris - completely agree.

    ReplyDelete
  169. I could be wrong but I thought I read Rick say himself doesn't work for PTI - he works on the forum. Very happy for those banned then unbanned, apologies given and received. A happy little smack family we have here.

Rick is here to resolve issues out of the goodness of his heart. But he doesn't represent PTI to me. His good actions won't change my opinion of their business practices. THEY haven't done anything different yet and until I see that, sorry I will continue to spend my money elsewhere.

    ReplyDelete
  170. You seem to miss the point Nancy. (My original post was general and I didn't mention any names)

Let me make it a little more clear, without names to cloud the issue.

When people come to this smack blog certain things are expected. One of them is to be able to express an opinion anonymously. So what if someone "beats a dead horse" on a certain situation or person. That can be said over and over again about any other issue/person that has been mentioned on this blog. And we still do it no matter who likes it or not.

No person who comes on this blog as themselves demand anyone else to stop talking about, bringing up the past and told to "get over it" for another self outed person. You are in anon territory. How can you stop people from "beating a dead horse" We do this all day long, every day with any given issue!!!

You can post all day long Nancy, as yourself, and so can I as anon. But you can't dictate, try to convince or shame anyone on what issue, persons, past issues or anything else people bring anonymously here.

    ReplyDelete
  171. Apparently I misunderstood something about your prior post.

I do think everyone is able to say whatever they want here. No separate "rules" for those who post anonymously or as themselves. No rules at all.

You're making a lot of distinctions between anonymous posters and those posting as themselves. I don't think it should be any different either way.

    ReplyDelete
  172. So if Rick doesn't work for PTI, who does he work for? The forum people who are paid by PTI? Doesn't make sense. He can ban people and edit comments on the PTI forum, but he doesn't work for them. Huh. I still think Nichole sent him here. I don't trust anything PTI and apologies notwithstanding, Rick banning people from the site and him saying he doesn't work for them, well, he's right there with them - not to be trusted in my book. Sorry, just keepin' it real.

    ReplyDelete
  173. I don't recall Rick saying that he doesn't work for PTI.

I posted that Rick doesn't represent PTI in that his views are his own and that he is just trying to help.

It may have been another annon that said that Rick doesn't work for PTI.

    ReplyDelete
  174. seems like we have this conversation once a week or so now...

First someone says "I think they sent him here as a spy"

Then someone says "He works for them, so he must be the enemy"

I am going to leave this to y'all to decide...I'll be over there trying to make things better for you and all of PTI's customers...

    ReplyDelete
  175. exhausting, eh Rick? :-p

    ReplyDelete
  176. I am going back to Muttation I think...it was a simpler time :)

    ReplyDelete
  177. LOL!

I have to agree with Nancy when she said that by posting under your real name you spend so much time defending/clarifying previous statements. That takes too much energy for me!

    ReplyDelete
  178. anonymous - engaged :)

    ReplyDelete
  179. I'll just speak for myself here. I knew that once upon a time, Rick was married to Julie. When the smack blog really picked up steam earlier this year, I was still unaware that Rick is no longer married to Julie. I think that's why I instantly mentally cried bullshit when he said on the forum that he didn't speak for PTI. This was on the very day that all of the banning happened. That misunderstanding may (or may not) have been the basis for most of the ugliness that followed.

From what I've been able to piece together, it appears that Rick no longer lives in Cincinnati, and has another job or jobs away from PTI. It seems that he's helping PTI out on the side, in addition to whatever else he does for a living.

I could speculate about why in the world someone would help out his ex-wife in her business, but it would be just that, speculation. Perhaps there's a financial motive - if the company's fortunes or lack thereof have something to do with Rick's finances due to the divorce, I'd be there helping out if I could, too. Or maybe he's just helping because it's the nice thing to do. I'm not going to judge either way.

I, for one, am happy that Rick is here trying to help. I still don't trust PTI, but I'm glad for the insights that he's offering, and grateful that someone, anyone, with any ties to the company, is listening to the feedback without getting all defensive.

  180. I agree with you Chris and add to that fact, Jenn posted weeks prior that essentially she could be snarky on the forum because she was no longer in customer service but was now the forum keeper.

I just could not understand how she could say that she wasn't representing Papertrey with every single thing that she said.

When Rick stepped in and said what sounded like exactly the same thing, coupled with my complete ignorance of the facts, my bs meter went off.

  183. I'm typing fast so that you don't get jumped on! LOL! :-)

To see posts past 200, you need to click on the post title and then when the comments come up, you should be able to see highlighted "oldest newest". Click on newest and that should get you past 200.

  184. Sorry, it says "newer newest".
Anyways, you need to click on the thread title itself instead of just the post numbers.

  186. Rick, you can't use Muttation if you want to be anonymous. ;)

Actually you're probably better off with Anonymous than any made up name because anyone could post as you.

And you're right, 14:04, for some reason people who use their real name get more flak and it's a pain.

  189. I would love to help you but I am having trouble understanding the question.

Which old post would you like to see?

    ReplyDelete
  190. Maybe you could just ask us the question and we will answer to the best of our ability?

  191. I thought you wanted to see comments numbering greater than 200 on a blog entry here. It's a pretty common question.

If you click on the title, "PTI Smacker III," then you just scroll down until you find the blog post or "space" you're interested in. Click on the Title of that post and then you can read any of the comments.

  193. The Zendesk Dana16 April 2012 at 15:20

I was the Dana who has the zendesk issue - I hope the other Dana didn't receive any nasty comments because of me! I was just sick of going back and forth for days with customer service, and Dawn pm'd me telling me about the fabulous new zendesk option...so by the time I posted there I was pretty frustrated, then, after Nichole's response I was very frustrated. I don't even know if I should bother responding to Julie...

  194. Zendesk Dana, I know if I had sent an email it would've been glowing!

Your frustration was clear and sometimes it just seems like they don't have a clue about the customer's perspective.

The attitude should have been corrected long ago, but after all of this bad PR it's even more bizarre that more effort isn't being made.

I hope you find real resolution soon. Maybe Rick can help.
