PTI stands for Papertrey Ink. This is a collective smack blog and Papertrey Ink review page. Papertrey Ink's continuously poor customer service has lead to a page dedicated to discussion of this stamp company and recommendations for alternative stamp companies. Minimal censorship here- I prefer to leave it up to posters' discretion.

Happy New Year!!! FRESH SPACE!
Happy 2012 smackers! New space here for everyone.
Any craft/stamping resolutions? Resolutions to end spending at PTI? More PTI smacking?
I did order on the 27th in the evening, and I got my order yesterday morning (the 31st). I got a free set, too. So I would say order NOW before the 5th before any peeks or release frenzy begins to occur!
Again.... "wah, wah, wah, whine, whine, whine... PTI Customer Service sucks! When are they going to get it? When are they doing to stop treating customers so poorly? When are they going to listen?" Four comments already today and 50% are sending their money to PTI! As long as you keep doing it, they're going to keep treating you like shit! When are YOU going to get it???
Anyone know who Dave Heink is in PTI customer service? My SIL had a note that was signed with that name, so I was wondering if he might be the husband of one of the Js, or if they might actually have hired a CS person!
My resolution is to use what I have, and keep it organized. We're hoping for changes around here, so anything I can do to consolodate, clear up, and hunker down and keep busy with what I have, the better. Mostly my resolution is to make 2012 less shitty than 2011... at least until the world ends.
My last purchase was from MFT on Dec 26. Their sale convinced me to buy from them and them only. A free stamp set from PTI, big friggin woop! And I probably wouldn't have got one anyways!
I won't be ordering much in 2012. I have enough sCrap to supply a small store. I've been at this hobby for 16 years. There hasn't been anything new and amazing in the last couple of years. It's all been done.
People are still waiting on their Anniversary Sets. This is appalling - no reasons seem to be given by PTI either as to why they have been so tardy in this fiasco.
Anyone that can do a simple cost/benefit analysis would have figured out that $1 for a yard of ribbon doesn't add up! I'm giving that one to Jesus, because it's stupidity beyond my realm of understanding.
I wish the smack-smacker would get the fuck away. If ppl wanna buy and bitch, then let them do that. You don't have to like it, but I think everyone is pretty damn tired of hearing you say "I told you so."
We're grown ups for crying out loud, leave the mothering for your own damn kids.
Amazing. Someone ordered on the 27th and got a free set? I know someone who ordered minutes after release and didn't get one. Maybe they found some stamps behind a bunch of unshipped boxes?
13:46 LOL @ the finding extra sets behind some unshipped boxes... YOU BET!
Me's gonna go check out MFT now.. Also. I got my Wplus9 super fast no problem and love my sets to bits.
PROPS, MASSIVE PROPS to Clearandsimplestamps... I bought from them a long while back and only two sets- today I receive a small sentiment stamp from them and a beautiful handmade (YES, handmade!!) card from them! I'm beyong touched that they 'remembered' their old customers even when they only bought once. Craft money going to them, right now. lol.
02.45 Thanks for the C&S heads-up. I have just placed an order with them and will see how/when it arrives (I am international). Their shipping price is a lot less than PTI which is crazy expensive and takes forever to arrive. C&S have some really nice stuff and I even ordered a couple of the Hybrid Ink Pads to try.
from Heifer's blog today... "Dawn McVey has an amazing new sentiment set that coordinates with two unique frames. As always, her choice of wording for the phrases is fresh & fun!"
Let's start taking guesses! I'm going with...
"Well, slap my ass and call me stupid 'cause I forgot your birthday!"
Umm, Lisa (above), on the front page of your site, there's a card by a "Vicki". Why did she source the MFT number dies in her supply list when she used PTI number dies? I mean, I like PTI's better anyway, but was that just a mistake or what? Just curious.... off to check out your card stock.
9:16 - Those are definitely the PTI number dies. If you look at the supply list with the picture of the MFT number dies, you can see MFT's dies are "blockier" for lack of a better word. They are somewhat similar, but the numbers used are definitely the PTI ones.
As for buying and still complaining.. I haven't personally had any issues with shipping but I think it's stupid that people do. PTI should have fixed all of these issues by now. Early on if I ever wrote to CS about something, I'd never hear back.. so when ink issues etc. started, I just took the loss and didn't bother. But it shouldn't be that way.
And I like to talk about the peeks - that lace flower thing looks like crap.
Had to chuckle at the "handmade by" stamp set. I bought the other set they have a while back and they had their freakin' name plastered all over it. So I took the scissors to the stamps and cut it right out. Do they seriously think their name should be on every card I produce and hand out? How about NO!
Aeryn, that's exactly why I didn't buy that set! Lol... didn't think to cut it all out.
I like the lacey stamp.
I think I've come to the conclusion that putting a "handmade" stamp on something (after years of making handmade cards) is kinda redundant. Most stuff you make by hand, LOOKS handmade (in a good way, hopefully). If I do use a stamp like that, I'd want it to be something personalized so that I could put MY name/sig on it.
Originally I thought it was kinda dumb, but I just did a comission of cards for a friend, and she *asked* me to stamp them and sign them. A. She wanted to make sure that I got the credit and B. she liked that they had a more "personal" touch like that. Since you can buy handmade cards in my local UPS store that you have no connection to, I kinda understood that. Opperation Write Home likes when you stamp your cards as well. With their logo, as well as your own if you want.
Having your name on the stamp would be cool. Could comission them I'm sure. These ones are just "handmade by" or "hand stamped with love by" and then you sign your name. That's good enough for me for now. I don't have a cool logo to stampify.
It's amazing the PTI can seriously screw up the simplest tasks. How hard is it to put a "thank you" stamp set into the first 1500 orders? Why did some who ordered right after the release not get one, but others who ordered days after the release get one? I am not shocked, because this company is notorious for customer service fuck ups, but seriously? It's really not hard concept! Put one free stamp set in EVERY ORDER until they are gone.
Does Donna actually think that PTI sent out a replacement thank you set because she posted about a mishap with her first one on the forum? No Donna. You got another set because you placed another order. Duh.
So far, unimpressed with Dawn's new sentiment set... the sample shown on Nicole's blog is too long for my liking unless you're going to put it inside the card. It sounds more like something you'd hand-write. I don't like it.
To quote Trell via Kathy Griffin, maybe Dawn should make a "Holy Fuckballs!" sentiment set???
10.05 I also thought it was getting quiet around here - seems that shipping was a little faster for the Dec release (could be because not as many ordered) and of course lots got the thank you set. So, everyone is 'happy'. Of course there are still some outstanding Anniversary sets but that seems to have no importance now (ie to the PIT bosses anyway). Perhaps the next drama will be when people start to try cashing in on their rewards points, if or when the new site gets up and running.
Interesting thread on 'opening ink pads' with most of the replies stating that they are struggling with the opening/closing of these pads, and getting cracks in the lids. Wonder how this will play out. Most seem to like the ink itself, but don't like the packaging. The actual size of the ink pad seems small; doesn't look like good value to me. I would rather pay for a normal size ink pad, not fancy packaging.
And yeah I notice it is a little quiet around here. Well I bought an inkpad, the sort of extra bottom bit fucking fell off. Shit quality still. The ink is pretty nice, but GODAMMIT, THE PACKAGING.
You know, I'm not happy with the "designer" ink pads, either. I love the ink color and the vibrancy is great, but the ink pads are SMALL for the price. They are at least 30-40% smaller than the old ink pads, and only $1 cheaper. And Nichole said on the forum a while ago that they *should* be priced at $6, but they are only charging $5 as a good will gesture toward their customers. Anyway, I wish Nichole and the PTI team would have stuck with a more traditional style for the inkpads. I foresee many problems with these, including cracked lids, stuck lids, and cracked bases.
From 2Peas - a list of things that people don't want to see at CHA. Someone should send this list to Hero Arts.
I feel better just throwing it out there. Anyone else care to add to the list? ETA: Our list
butterflies doilies mustaches owls prints that look like kids drew them birds glitter paper muted paper overpriced/over abundance of embellies for one line of paper dress forms silhouettes mushrooms clocks cupcakes aged looking papers full scene on pp - the kind where the page is already a full picture - cus then where do I put my picture? gaudy flowers with rhinestones and glitter - too over the top bottlecaps, I thought we were done with those already? they keep coming back Those retro children that look like they are from 1960's 1st grade readers. Oh, and those retro women with their sewing machines and ironing boards. *kitchen appliances (I don't need a paper with a 1970 sewing machine on it *or kitchen sink) Angel wings not attached to anything. Sick of it! frogs and gnomes
That's really it for sneaks? WOW! I really won't have a hard time giving my money to The Greeting Farm or, well, *anyone else* this month. That couldn't have been more boring. ((rolls eyes))
I really wish PTI didn't have the best cardstock around! It's the only thing I order from them anymore. Anyway, I just received my order and received the thank you stamp. I was quite surprised.
I just received my order from MFT. You have to know I live in Canada. I placed my order on Dec 28/11 and received it today. That 12 days with holidays thrown in there. I am soooo thrilled! Had this order been shipped by PTI, would it have arrived this quick? NO!!! I would have waited at least another 2 weeks (and that is from experience)
No fancy packaging, just quick, fast and cheap shipping!
LMAO at another of Nicole's "by customer request" blog posts! I just LOVE how she tries to make-believe they're actually LISTENING to customers! What a GREAT chuckle for a Monday!
MFT dies are cute but unfortunately, they don't cut through wool felt and heavy cardstock :( so disappointed when I tried to make ornaments for my xmas tree and they simply didn't go through the heavy cardstock. Spellbinders are a good option.
Please, no more hideous Ali E. font! Can't stand her ridiculous handwriting!Which, by the way, is hard to read in those project life tags (Mich W anyone?)
I cut all kinds of cardstock brands and thicknesses, and all kinds of felt with my MFT dies with no problems at all! They're one of the best companies out there, and what I like even BETTER about them is that I can also find them at my LSS! Can't say that about PTI because Nicole thinks she's too good to sell wholesale.
Love that Ami posted on the thank you set thread when someone posted they'd ordered last week and got the thank you set: "That's interesting, I thought the appreciation stamp was only for the first 1,500 orders placed on Dec 15th and some people actually missed out? Things that make you go hmmm..."
I think my name is on the Shit List. I'll never get one. Fockers.
Okay, I know this is unrelated, but is anyone signed up for the Clean & Simple card class at onlinecardclasses.com?! What do you like? Dislike? (I know it is only day 1)
I feel I will get real feedback here, and not 'bought' positive feedback. I am considering it, but not sure if it is worth $25. I love the CAS style.
I love the idea of the lace impression embossing/die but I can just see the customer service nightmare when people start returning dies that are defective. I think that it's often the die machines that are old or that people don't replace their plates as often as they should but there will be a number of "my die is defective" posts on the forum. I haven't found a sandwich yet that will make my impression plates work properly.
Yep, it is a pain to go through CS with a defective product, but your Quadefoil die cost a good amount of money, and it should work. Wishing you luck if you pursue it.
I was the one who complained about MFT dies. I have 2 new die cutting machines (cuttlebug and grand calibur) and I never ever have problems with spellbinders but whenever I use this gray dies (MFT, PTI, Memory Box, etc), I have to roll twice as much, especially when I want to use wool felt (is that the felt you use or do you use the synthetic felt??)
So, old machines/plates are not always the case.
And yes, I prefer folders too (cuttlebug/sizzix) because you don't need an extra shim.
re: 6:17, I agree. I noticed on Nichole's sample that it looks like it didn't impress perfectly in certain areas.
I bought the QF plate and luckily it cuts beautifully with a 2x run through the cuttlebug, but I could see how that intricate of a die would not work for most. And because of the inconsistencies, I'm staying away from the lace die even though I think it looks fantastic.
Here's the tip to breaking the buying habit with PTI. Look at the countdown posts briefly AND THEN WALK AWAY. I viewed the sneaks yesterday the weekend and loved just about everything I saw but I haven't been back to see them since and have basically forgotten what it was that I liked.
OMG ITA with no more fucking mustaches. I get so sick of seeing those all over blog land!! They aren't cute on kids. They aren't cute on t-shirts. They aren't cute as photobooth props. They aren't cute at weddings.
I love all the things mentioned on the 2Peas list. And by 'love' I mean 'hate and do not want to see any more of.'
Nichole said that there is a new fellow Dave that is TAKING OVER in customer service. She didn't say that Dave is now working in customer service. I wonder if that means that Jenn is gone?!
Nichole's response to the missing mat stack 4 stamps, in case she edits.
The two images were removed from the set because there were so many complaints of the stamps being stuck together and people did not want to cut them apart. We reworked the set and had to unfortunately remove the two images in question in order to alleviate the problem. The initial problem was completely my fault since I designed the set and try to squeeze too many stamps into the allotted sheet size (just trying to give customers more bang for their buck) The set is sold as pictured on it's sale page on the website here: http://www.papertreyink.com/stamps_mats ... ction.html and has been for some time. However, those that purchased it when it was first released would have received the extra stamps.
I am not sure why the thumbnail has not updated along with the sale page image but I will be sure to pass that along. I apologize for the discrepancy, I can completely understand why that might be confusing. However, you have received the set as advertised on the sale page where you add it to your cart.
There may have been a delay in response from customer service because we have a new gentleman taking over (his name is Dave) and he wouldn't have known the answer to your inquiry and was probably looking into it further for you before responding.
****************************** However, you have received the set as advertised on the sale page where you add it to your cart.
If you didn't get your thank you stamp set with your December order, there's hope: they've ordered another batch and these will be included in the January release order. What the fuck.
So order again (spending more money with us) and perhaps you'll get a free stamp! The sad thing is, they'll probably fall for that line of BS.
As far as my plate, I will attempt it more, there's paper shims to be made, and apparently *4* is the magic number of through a machine ((rolls eyes)). But it certainly taught me never to buy a die plate, but because of the inherent issues. The lace one looks okay, but nope! Wouldn't do it. A snowflake one would be awesome for someone like me (WAY into winter) but there's just so much that could break on those things!
I hope you can get a clean cut with you plate, Aeryn. I'd be so pissed if I paid that much for a product that didn't work like it should. So not right if you have to decide whether or not its worth contacting a company because their customer service is so awful but their product is defective.
The Silhouette library was the first place that I checked when the quatrefoil die came out. I'm sure I'll find something similar to the new lace die there too.
Interesting thread about the new ink pads; most don't like them, and are going to buy cubes. That could be interesting from a sales point of view. I have read Nichole's lengthy explanation on how to use them, but it seems too complicated.
I agree with the poster that said to look at the sneaks and then walk away. It certainly is sound. And yeah, even Betsy can't make that stuff look good. Nihole needs to step up the designs or something.
re using MFT dies - I have no trouble cutting through felt and PTI cardstock but I always lay my dies facing up; first pass usually is all I need on my Cuttlebug (which is pretty old now) and I don't need a shim. And although the CB is getting on is years I do replace plates before they are totally warped.
I actually like Betsy's cards (except that pink one w/the window).
But it seems like the lacey design doesn't show up very well unless you look very closely at it. Like it doesn't stamp well or something. That stinks, b/c I like the designs.
I'm 7:20 #1, I get that it is spelt correctly and it's an alternative to hurrah, it's just that I personally have never seen it spelt that way on any other stamp set or craft related item.
It just looks 'wrong'.
Also, you know a product is bad when one of the owners has to write a long post explaining how to use the new ink pad!
Yeah, I think "hurray" just looks wrong, too... I understand too that it is an alternative spelling, but I don't think anyone uses it. It just looks like a mistake.
And seriously, either she thinks people are just incredibly dumb or ACN thinks she's the greatest thing since sliced bread. Pop bottle labels, really? And is it necessary to show a photo of how to remove the backing from adhesive paper? Thank GOD she showed that... I've been tossing it in the trash from frustration for years!
7.47 Hurray does look wrong - have never seen it on a stamp either. The long post explaining how to use an ink pad - really? It is supposed to be just an an ink pad. Wonder how many will just accept the cracks, bottom falling off the pad etc. etc. One of the posters on the forum said she wouldn't return hers as she doesn't want to get embroiled in a CS mess. These pads could become a headache for PTI.
I think we are going to be looking at 'Inkgate 2' (or is it 3? they've messed up so many times!)
I am glad that I am not alone in my 'hurray' thinking.
07:58, I saw that too, how on earth did any of us manage to papercraft before ACN came along? I thought adhesive paper meant you had to put glue on it, I'd never have thought it meant it had glue already on it, thanks ACN for clearing that up for me ;P
You may have noticed a couple of references to Dave in Customer Service recently, and I just wanted to let you a little more about that. In an effort to make continued improvements in the area of customer service, we have hired Dave Heink. Dave has numerous years experience with Customer Service in the print industry, so we are thrilled to have him on board in the Cincinnati office! What this will mean is not only continued quick response times on emails, but also quicker turnaround on action items. It's just one of the ways we are striving to make improvements, and we hope that you will find as positive as we do.
I have spent the last couple of weeks training Dave Heink and I can tell you that he is really fantastic! I think you will be in great hands when you have an issue; Dave is conscientious and kind, and incredibly well-suited to the task of Papertrey Ink Customer Service. Be sure to say hi on your next email! Welcome aboard, Dave!
"Dave has numerous years experience with Customer Service in the print industry" - translation, Dave works for Heskamp Printing. So, no, they didn't "hire" Dave. Dave just got transferred from Heskamp. Or most likely, Dave got PTI CS added to his Heskamp duties. Though from what I hear, Julie is such a biotch to deal with that anything will be better than her.
Well this new guy better not always just be like "let me direct your question to Julie".... I received some screwed up pieces of CS from them and she even made me take pictures as proof. Pain in the ass. At least she didn't make me send the thing back.
Also, the ink problem... how is storing them in 'yin/yang' position any good? My storage and I believe most crafters storage are in boxes and containers and circular stuff just don't fit so well in them. I have no problems inking up small spaces with a regular inkpad so I think they were just trying to be 'innovative' and failing hard.
Agreed 13:40 - Be innovative in other areas, dies, stamps, even ink formulation but don't try and reinvent the wheel. I much prefer the usual rectangular pad, I keep dropping that damn cum spurt ink pad.
I just noticed this thread, as I don't often visit the Forum. I am the "Formerly Unhappy PTI Customer" named in this thread, so I thought I would give an update to those who are interested. I have still not received the September Release prize package from PTI, and it has been 3 weeks since Julie's last email to me in which she apologized and vowed to make it right. I just sent her an email today to ask for an update and will keep you posted, as well as post any news on my blog.
My intention in bringing this issue to light is not to encourage negativity on the Forum or elsewhere about PTI, which is why I disabled comments on my original blog post about this issue. However, given the nearly 900 views of that post and the response here on the Forum, it is clear that many of you are concerned about what is happening behind the scenes to address complaints.
We absolutely should applaud PTI when they implement changes for the better, but we also deserve to know when they are failing to meet their customers' expectations. In my case, it is not so much the fact that I haven't received my prize that has disheartened me, but the unprofessional manner in which the situation has been handled. I think you all have a right to know that.
I do not fault any of you who continue to place orders and gush over all of the new products being released each month. I was doing the same thing until a couple of months ago, even though I knew there were others who had voiced frustrations over shipping and Customer Service. I am genuinely happy for each of you who has had a complaint resolved, been rewarded with a "thank you" gift in your latest order, or received exemplary service from PTI. You deserve it. We all do. Which is why I will not spend any more money on PTI products until I am confident that they respect and value me personally as a customer.
I hope that I will be able to report back to you soon, letting you know that my faith in this company has been restored. Thanks so much to all of you for your continued support.
I was bothered by her second last sentence. I would not care to have my faith restored in this company after all the bullshit she went through since Sept to get a lousy prize. If they finally bother to send it, I would send back a big FUCK YOU VERY MUCH!!!
I don't care for it. Now you have to scroll up and down trying to figure out what new posts are being made. All the more important for fresh space when we get to page 2.
I thought that Jennifer was out but I think that they are both now working in customer service. Great. Now we have 2 people to forward emails to Julie.
Not loving the new reply feature, having to figure out what replies are new, would be better to have numbered posts.
If it ain't broke don't fix it.
PTI Smacker 3, can you try and fix the huge space at the bottom of the page? when I scroll to the bottom for new posts I end up scrolling through a load of space! Thanks!
PLS imput those instructions PTI Smacker 3. It's just too complicated a thing for this format, we don't need to be scrolling up and down for new comments.
FIRST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year smackers! I will be cutting back on craft spending as a whole. The only thing I will likely purchase from PTI will be cardstock.
ReplyDeletehappy new year!
ReplyDeleteis there another company that makes a stamp set like the label basics from pti? I really want it but am skeptical about ordering from them now.
I did order on the 27th in the evening, and I got my order yesterday morning (the 31st). I got a free set, too. So I would say order NOW before the 5th before any peeks or release frenzy begins to occur!

ReplyDeleteHoly shat! You ordered on the 27th and got a free set in that order?! Waaaah! I ordered on the 27th and did NOT get a free set. Asshats.
ReplyDeleteMy resolution is to use what I have, and keep it organized. We're hoping for changes around here, so anything I can do to consolodate, clear up, and hunker down and keep busy with what I have, the better. ReplyDeleteYou know who has disappeared? Ribbon share girl.
ReplyDeleteMy last purchase was from MFT on Dec 26. Their sale convinced me to buy from them and them only. A free stamp set from PTI, big friggin woop! And I probably wouldn't have got one anyways!
ReplyDeleteI won't be ordering much in 2012. I have enough sCrap to supply a small store. I've been at this hobby for 16 years. There hasn't been anything new and amazing in the last couple of years. It's all been done.
Ribbon share girl made me wonder. Also, in the words of Kathy Griffin. Holyfuckballs it's 2012!!!!
ReplyDelete^^ I'm 16:16 – anybody know anything?
ReplyDeleteOMG the Hero Arts catalog is terrible! It looks like the same crap that they put out in 2003.
ReplyDeleteI will believe that PTI hired a second customer service rep when I see it.
14:22 bite me. I work my ass off at a job I've had for 25 years. I'll spend my $ anywhere and however I damn well please.
ReplyDelete^^^Then stop smacking PTI, and smack yourself!
ReplyDeleteComprehension problems? There was no smack of PTI in my post. I personally have had no issues with PTI, but can commiserate with those that do.
ReplyDeletePeople are still waiting on their Anniversary Sets. This is appalling - no reasons seem to be given by PTI either as to why they have been so tardy in this fiasco.
ReplyDelete03:37 Yes, and it makes me laugh in a thread that Jennifer says there is an 'underlying problem'... yeah, it's the bosses, and their poor decisions.
ReplyDeleteI see that there is a post on the ribbon share thread asking if the order was placed, doesn't bode well.
ReplyDeleteI think i remember reading that RS Girl was moving house, maybe that explains it?
The newest member on the boards is .p-viagra. Let's all welcome this person to the message board!
ReplyDeleteLOL!
Why is it that other message boards (two peas, for example) can keep that shit off their pages, but PTI can't?
Anyone that can do a simple cost/benefit analysis would have figured out that $1 for a yard of ribbon doesn't add up! I'm giving that one to Jesus, because it's stupidity beyond my realm of understanding.
ReplyDeleteI wish the smack-smacker would get the fuck away. If ppl wanna buy and bitch, then let them do that. You don't have to like it, but I think everyone is pretty damn tired of hearing you say "I told you so."
ReplyDeleteWe're grown ups for crying out loud, leave the mothering for your own damn kids.
You've made your point, now drop it.
Amazing. Someone ordered on the 27th and got a free set? I know someone who ordered minutes after release and didn't get one. Maybe they found some stamps behind a bunch of unshipped boxes?
ReplyDeleteMFT stamps just came out with their Jan release and I think the "At the Movies" stamp and die set is a must have!!! along with other dies and stamps
ReplyDeleteWill I have to worry about shipping with MFT? NOPE!
After my shipping experience (and others) PTI won't see a dime of my money again!
For those of you looking for the PopTone cardstock, they are now available at StampSchool.com, along with matching inks and felt!
ReplyDeleteLOL, Trell!!
ReplyDeleteI like the MFT At the Movies set, too. I just may have to order that.
13:46 LOL @ the finding extra sets behind some unshipped boxes... YOU BET!
ReplyDeleteMe's gonna go check out MFT now.. Also. I got my Wplus9 super fast no problem and love my sets to bits.

ReplyDelete8:12. - MFT has a number die set as well. I have it. It must be similar to PTI?

Not 9:16 or 09:46 but they are the PTI dies not MFT. just look at the 6 compared to MFT, it has a 'bulbous' end to it which is the same as PTI.
ReplyDeleteNow, there's a stamp set I'd buy, 7:15! LMFAO!!!
ReplyDelete07:15, I am ROFLMAO!!! HA! When I saw that I thought ~ OMG, what will the other sentiments be. You put it much more colorfully!! Thanks for the laugh!
ReplyDeleteAs for buying and still complaining..
ReplyDeleteAnd I like to talk about the peeks - that lace flower thing looks like crap.
Had to chuckle at the "handmade by" stamp set. I bought the other set they have a while back and they had their freakin' name plastered all over it. So I took the scissors to the stamps and cut it right out. Do they seriously think their name should be on every card I produce and hand out? How about NO!
ReplyDeleteAeryn, that's exactly why I didn't buy that set! Lol... didn't think to cut it all out.
ReplyDeleteI like the lacey stamp.
But that's just me.
ReplyDeleteThat's what I'm saying. I'd want it to have a personal logo, not just a stamp that says it was handmade. I'd rather it say handmade by "my name."
ReplyDeleteHaving your name on the stamp would be cool. Could comission them I'm sure. These ones are just "handmade by" or "hand stamped with love by" and then you sign your name. That's good enough for me for now. I don't have a cool logo to stampify.
ReplyDeleteI have a stamp of my own signature. It's a relic from my corporate days, but I'm sure you could find a place to do this cheaply.
ReplyDeleteI have a custom stamp with a hummingbird and my first name. I add my initials and date by hand. Love my hummingbird stamp:)
ReplyDeleteI have a custom stamp with a hummingbird and my first name. I add my initials and date by hand. Love my hummingbird stamp:)
ReplyDeleteI have a custom stamp with a hummingbird and my first name. I add my initials and date by hand. Love my hummingbird stamp:)
ReplyDeleteI just received my PTI order placed 4 days ago and the Thank you stamp was included.
ReplyDeleteSo how many people ordered within the first 1500 and didn't get the thank you stamps?
ReplyDeletePTI Smacker 3, can we please get a comment box at the bottom of the posts please?
ReplyDeleteAnyone sign up for a Pen Pal? I did and am pleased with who I 'got', bit awkward though getting a request from someone I really dislike!
Wow. Lots of folks have custom hummingbird stamps. ;) Couldn't resist.
ReplyDeleteNext sneak peeks... Dawn gets another sentiment set... this time weddings.
ReplyDeleteJanuary 5 07:15, can't wait to see what you'll think of for this one :)
Well f*ck me running. Someone who ordered on January 2 got the thank you stamp set?! I ordered right after Christmas and didn't get one. Asswipes.
ReplyDeleteI've noticed that this place has gotten really quiet.
ReplyDeleteIs it because people have less issues with PTI or has the whole smack blog thing started to die a death?
Yeah, what's up with that 9:58, i know someone who ordered on th 27th Dec and didn't get a set.
ReplyDeleteDoes Donna actually think that PTI sent out a replacement thank you set because she posted about a mishap with her first one on the forum?
ReplyDeleteNo Donna. You got another set because you placed another order. Duh.
I think that everything to say about PTI has been said, nothin's been done about it, and that's all folks!
ReplyDeleteI've moved on from my PTI buying days and am really enjoying shopping at all of the other online stamp stores.
So far, unimpressed with Dawn's new sentiment set... the sample shown on Nicole's blog is too long for my liking unless you're going to put it inside the card. It sounds more like something you'd hand-write. I don't like it.
ReplyDeleteTo quote Trell via Kathy Griffin, maybe Dawn should make a "Holy Fuckballs!" sentiment set???
Now that's a set I'd buy!!!
ReplyDelete10.05
ReplyDeleteI also thought it was getting quiet around here - seems that shipping was a little faster for the Dec release (could be because not as many ordered) and of course lots got the thank you set.
ReplyDeleteMost seem to like the ink itself, but don't like the packaging.
The actual size of the ink pad seems small; doesn't look like good value to me. I would rather pay for a normal size ink pad, not fancy packaging.
I highly doubt I'll be signing up for a Pen Pal.
ReplyDeleteI'd love a Kathy Griffin inspired set, but I don't think she goes over with the main PTI crowd.
7 January 2012 08:46-
ReplyDeleteAsk and you shall receive. Hope everyone is happy with this comment format instead of the pop up box. :D
And yeah I notice it is a little quiet around here. Well I bought an inkpad, the sort of extra bottom bit fucking fell off. Shit quality still. The ink is pretty nice, but GODAMMIT, THE PACKAGING.
ReplyDeleteThanks PTI Smacker III.... I'm not the one who asked, but I do like it better this way!
ReplyDelete00.30
ReplyDeleteOh oh, are you going to try to get your inkpad replaced??
I also like this format better!
ReplyDeleteThanks...
I haven't bought from PTI since September and I am really not missing much,,,except frustration and regret, of course!
ReplyDeleteSo that's it for sneak peeks. Yawn.
ReplyDeleteFrom 2Peas - a list of things that people don't want to see at CHA. Someone should send this list to Hero Arts.
ReplyDeleteI feel better just throwing it out there. Anyone else care to add to the list?
ETA: Our list
butterflies
doilies
mustaches
owls
prints that look like kids drew them
birds
glitter paper
muted paper
overpriced/over abundance of embellies for one line of paper
dress forms
silhouettes
mushrooms
clocks
cupcakes
aged looking papers
full scene on pp - the kind where the page is already a full picture - cus then where do I put my picture?
gaudy flowers with rhinestones and glitter - too over the top
bottlecaps, I thought we were done with those already? they keep coming back
Those retro children that look like they are from 1960's 1st grade readers. Oh, and those retro women with their sewing machines and ironing boards.
*kitchen appliances (I don't need a paper with a 1970 sewing machine on it *or kitchen sink)
Angel wings not attached to anything. Sick of it!
frogs and gnomes
That's really it for sneaks? WOW! I really won't have a hard time giving my money to The Greeting Farm or, well, *anyone else* this month. That couldn't have been more boring. ((rolls eyes))
ReplyDeleteI really wish PTI didn't have the best cardstock around! It's the only thing I order from them anymore. Anyway, I just received my order and received the thank you stamp. I was quite surprised.
ReplyDeleteI just received my order from MFT.
ReplyDeleteNo fancy packaging, just quick, fast and cheap shipping!
09:53
ReplyDeleteAdd my vote for no more fucking cupcakes.
LMAO at another of Nicole's "by customer request" blog posts! I just LOVE how she tries to make-believe they're actually LISTENING to customers! What a GREAT chuckle for a Monday!
ReplyDeleteI'd never heard of MFT before seeing it here. Now I want a bunch of their dies. How are they? I'd love to hear reviews.
ReplyDeleteMFT dies are cute but unfortunately, they don't cut through wool felt and heavy cardstock :( so disappointed when I tried to make ornaments for my xmas tree and they simply didn't go through the heavy cardstock. Spellbinders are a good option.
ReplyDeletePlease, no more hideous Ali E. font! Can't stand her ridiculous handwriting!Which, by the way, is hard to read in those project life tags (Mich W anyone?)
ReplyDelete10:26, I have some MFT dies and they cut PTI cardstock and felt perfectly. Maybe you could use a shim?
ReplyDeleteI also agree, Spellbinder dies are great.
ReplyDeleteLove that Ami posted on the thank you set thread when someone posted they'd ordered last week and got the thank you set: "That's interesting, I thought the appreciation stamp was only for the first 1,500 orders placed on Dec 15th and some people actually missed out? Things that make you go hmmm..."
ReplyDeleteI think my name is on the Shit List. I'll never get one. Fockers.
Love the pot stirring!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the comment change PTI Smacker III. Makes viewing on my phone much easier.
ReplyDeleteOkay, I know this is unrelated, but is anyone signed up for the Clean & Simple card class at onlinecardclasses.com?! What do you like? Dislike? (I know it is only day 1)
ReplyDeleteI feel I will get real feedback here, and not 'bought' positive feedback. I am considering it, but not sure if it is worth $25. I love the CAS style.
TIA!
Is anyone going to break the news to Donna that they didn't actually send her a replacement set or does she read here?
ReplyDeleteCornish Heritage Farms is looking for a dt. They pay in stamps and a store discount. No thank you.I'd rather have stamps AND compensation (read cash).
ReplyDeleteI thought CHF was all digital. Are they making rubber/polymer stamps now, too?
ReplyDeleteSo many places only pay in digi stamps, it's not that surprising. I dunno about them though, not really my style.
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of the lace impression embossing/die but I can just see the customer service nightmare when people start returning dies that are defective. I think that it's often the die machines that are old or that people don't replace their plates as often as they should but there will be a number of "my die is defective" posts on the forum.
ReplyDeleteI haven't found a sandwich yet that will make my impression plates work properly.
I'm not a fan of the impression plates' quality either. I prefer "folders."
ReplyDeleteps, My MFT dies work well with felt, also.
My quatrafoil still doesn't work. I haven't decided whether I want to go through the CS hassle or not.
ReplyDeleteYep, it is a pain to go through CS with a defective product, but your Quadefoil die cost a good amount of money, and it should work. Wishing you luck if you pursue it.
ReplyDeleteI was the one who complained about MFT dies.
ReplyDeleteSo, old machines/plates are not always the case.
And yes, I prefer folders too (cuttlebug/sizzix) because you don't need an extra shim.
re: 6:17, I agree. I noticed on Nichole's sample that it looks like it didn't impress perfectly in certain areas.
ReplyDeleteI bought the QF plate and luckily it cuts beautifully with a 2x run through the cuttlebug, but I could see how that intricate of a die would not work for most.
ReplyDeleteI love all the things mentioned on the 2Peas list. And by 'love' I mean 'hate and do not want to see any more of.'
Nichole said that there is a new fellow Dave that is TAKING OVER in customer service. She didn't say that Dave is now working in customer service. I wonder if that means that Jenn is gone?!
ReplyDeleteNichole's response to the missing mat stack 4 stamps, in case she edits.
ReplyDeleteThe two images were removed from the set because there were so many complaints of the stamps being stuck together and people did not want to cut them apart. We reworked the set and had to unfortunately remove the two images in question in order to alleviate the problem. The initial problem was completely my fault since I designed the set and try to squeeze too many stamps into the allotted sheet size (just trying to give customers more bang for their buck) The set is sold as pictured on it's sale page on the website here:
http://www.papertreyink.com/stamps_mats ... ction.html
and has been for some time.
******************************
However, you have received the set as advertised on the sale page where you add it to your cart.
This sounds like the old Nichole.
If you didn't get your thank you stamp set with your December order, there's hope: they've ordered another batch and these will be included in the January release order. What the fuck.
ReplyDeleteSo order again (spending more money with us) and perhaps you'll get a free stamp! The sad thing is, they'll probably fall for that line of BS.
ReplyDeleteAs far as my plate, I will attempt it more, there's paper shims to be made, and apparently *4* is the magic number of through a machine ((rolls eyes)).
ReplyDeleteJust a suggestion if you have a Silhouette: there is a .99 file that looks just like quatrefoil.
ReplyDeleteThe Silhouette library was the first place that I checked when the quatrefoil die came out. I'm sure I'll find something similar to the new lace die there too.
ReplyDeleteDitto, I checked Silhouette first, can't find one that looks like it, can you share a link 16:20?
ReplyDeleteGood grief! Even Betsy couldn't make those stamps look good. FUG!!
ReplyDeleteMaybe it's just me, but did she completely MISS a letter in her own F'ing name? It looks like "Nihole" to me!

ReplyDeleteYep, definitely 'Nihole".
Interesting thread about the new ink pads; most don't like them, and are going to buy cubes. That could be interesting from a sales point of view.
ReplyDeleteI have read Nichole's lengthy explanation on how to use them, but it seems too complicated.
I agree with the poster that said to look at the sneaks and then walk away. It certainly is sound. And yeah, even Betsy can't make that stuff look good. Nihole needs to step up the designs or something.
ReplyDeletere using MFT dies - I have no trouble cutting through felt and PTI cardstock but I always lay my dies facing up; first pass usually is all I need on my Cuttlebug (which is pretty old now) and I don't need a shim. And although the CB is getting on is years I do replace plates before they are totally warped.
ReplyDeleteI actually like Betsy's cards (except that pink one w/the window).
ReplyDeleteBut it seems like the lacey design doesn't show up very well unless you look very closely at it. Like it doesn't stamp well or something. That stinks, b/c I like the designs.
Why the HELL is that celebrations frame $24?!?!?!
ReplyDeleteThe stamps set is $24, the die is $6
ReplyDeleteOk thanks - that makes so much more sense. Reading is fundamental. Lol.
DeleteHmm, what are your thoughts on Hurray Vs Hooray? I've only ever seen it as Hooray.
ReplyDeleteLOL at the HURRAY! Hurray? Did they mean hooray?
ReplyDeleteHi other 7:20! Great minds... :)
ReplyDeleteHurray looks so wrong. Like hurry spelled wrong.
My thesaurus shows 'hurray as another spelling for hooray'.
ReplyDeleteJust looks funny tho - prefer the hooray.
Another English dictionary definition - hurray is an alternative to hurrah.
ReplyDeleteSeems more like a 'chant'.
Rather complicated this language stuff.
I'm 7:20 #1, I get that it is spelt correctly and it's an alternative to hurrah, it's just that I personally have never seen it spelt that way on any other stamp set or craft related item.
ReplyDeleteIt just looks 'wrong'.
Also, you know a product is bad when one of the owners has to write a long post explaining how to use the new ink pad!
The mat stack sets are $24 so it makes sense that the celebrations would also be $24.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I thought the die was $24. It's been cleared up though. Thanks.
DeleteYeah, I think "hurray" just looks wrong, too... I understand too that it is an alternative spelling, but I don't think anyone uses it. It just looks like a mistake.
ReplyDeleteAnd seriously, either she thinks people are just incredibly dumb or ACN thinks she's the greatest thing since sliced bread. Pop bottle labels, really? And is it necessary to show a photo of how to remove the backing from adhesive paper? Thank GOD she showed that... I've been tossing it in the trash from frustration for years!
I guess we crafters should only share things that have never been done before.
Delete7.47
ReplyDeleteHurray does look wrong - have never seen it on a stamp either.
ReplyDeleteI am glad that I am not alone in my 'hurray' thinking.
07:58, I saw that too, how on earth did any of us manage to papercraft before ACN came along? I thought adhesive paper meant you had to put glue on it, I'd never have thought it meant it had glue already on it, thanks ACN for clearing that up for me ;P
Inkgate 3.
ReplyDeleteWhatever!
ReplyDeleteWelcome Dave in Customer Service!

"What this will mean is not only continued quick response times on emails, but also quicker turnaround on action items."
Are you FUCKING kidding me! Continued? What are they smoking!
Dave has numerous years experience with Customer Service in the print industry,
ReplyDeleteGreat. Does that mean that he has come fresh from Julie's printing company? I sure hope not!
.....and trained by Jenn. Oh joy. Or should I say hurray?
ReplyDelete"Dave has numerous years experience with Customer Service in the print industry" - translation, Dave works for Heskamp Printing. So, no, they didn't "hire" Dave. Dave just got transferred from Heskamp. Or most likely, Dave got PTI CS added to his Heskamp duties. Though from what I hear, Julie is such a biotch to deal with that anything will be better than her.
ReplyDeleteDave Heink sounds made up. Isn't Nichole's husband named Dave? Like Dave Heady-ink...ha! Crack myself right up.
ReplyDeleteActually, Julie has a brother named Dave who I met at the PTI booth at CHA. Hmmmm.....
DeleteYou know, I think you make a REALLY valid point! That's WAY too coincidental for his last name to have "ink" in it!
DeleteWell this new guy better not always just be like "let me direct your question to Julie".... I received some screwed up pieces of CS from them and she even made me take pictures as proof. Pain in the ass. At least she didn't make me send the thing back.
ReplyDeleteAlso, the ink problem... how is storing them in 'yin/yang' position any good? My storage and I believe most crafters storage are in boxes and containers and circular stuff just don't fit so well in them. I have no problems inking up small spaces with a regular inkpad so I think they were just trying to be 'innovative' and failing hard.
ReplyDeleteAgreed 13:40 - Be innovative in other areas, dies, stamps, even ink formulation but don't try and reinvent the wheel. I much prefer the usual rectangular pad, I keep dropping that damn cum spurt ink pad.
ReplyDeleteNow this update just needs no explanation:
ReplyDeleteI just noticed this thread, as I don't often visit the Forum.
What a bunch of stupid fucks!
I assume that last line isn't part of the original message in the forum from "Formerly Unhappy." Who exactly are you calling stupid?
DeletePTI
DeleteI was bothered by her second last sentence. I would not care to have my faith restored in this company after all the bullshit she went through since Sept to get a lousy prize. If they finally bother to send it, I would send back a big FUCK YOU VERY MUCH!!!
DeletePTI Smacker III.... LOVE the new "reply" feature!
ReplyDeletePTI Smacker III here, glad you like it!
DeleteI don't care for it. Now you have to scroll up and down trying to figure out what new posts are being made. All the more important for fresh space when we get to page 2.
DeleteInteresting... does this mean Jennifer is out?
ReplyDeleteI thought that Jennifer was out but I think that they are both now working in customer service. Great. Now we have 2 people to forward emails to Julie.
ReplyDeleteLOL.
DeleteNot loving the new reply feature, having to figure out what replies are new, would be better to have numbered posts.
ReplyDeleteIf it ain't broke don't fix it.
PTI Smacker 3, can you try and fix the huge space at the bottom of the page? when I scroll to the bottom for new posts I end up scrolling through a load of space! Thanks!
Thirded!
ReplyDeleteinstructions on how you can set the replies back to the way it was. It is possible.
ReplyDeletehttp://support.google.com/blogger/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=1725597
PLS imput those instructions PTI Smacker 3. It's just too complicated a thing for this format, we don't need to be scrolling up and down for new comments.
ReplyDeleteI just saw this on Tim Holtz's blog - alphabet dies! I can't tell if I like the font yet until I see some examples.
