So CSS has just come out with a line of gift wrap and Amber says that using it as intended is so last season? That wouldn't sit well with me if I was CSS's owner.
Before I ask on the PTI forum, I thought I'd see if anyone here knows. My Pure Poppy full sized pad has come unglued from the case. How do I successfully re-attach it? I seem to remember this problem being discussed on the forum WAAAAY back. Thanks!
I've heard that a couple drops of super glue will do the trick. I've used that method to reattach some Colorbox Cats Eye pads and the glue had no effect on the ink whatsoever. Just use the glue sparingly.
I like Amber's blog but I always think that over-the-top blogs would be pretty expensive to maintain. As soon as the ads take over I will stop visiting.
I think she spends more time tablescaping, staging, working on her blog posts, and monetizing the blog than she does on the actual project itself. I would rather see a really great project and tutorial with less production value than a crappy project with fancy editing. Example? The bag with the poorly sewn watermelon applique (was it that? it's hard to remember) on the side of a purchased canvas bag. More Sandra Lee than Martha Stewart, sorry!
I say good for her for trying to do something with the hobby Her writing style is not so much for me, and the less paper craft projects I see the less I will visit But a run of the mill blog takes some work so I can only imagine how much hers takes and give her some credit for that
I completely forgot about PTI's preview today. That seems to be a good sign in ending any vestiges of PTI addiction that may be remaining.
Someone else has mentioned previously on the very odd use of emphasis in recent sentiments. I think Stitched Sentiments is one of the worst. I say this as a needleworker. I couldn't send one of these to any of my stitching friends (all extremely accomplished needlework artists). The sentiments are just too "off".
In her quest to be different, NH missed the mark completely. Had she done a simple "thinking of you" or "wishing you well" or "happy birthday" in a cross stitch font, I could use this set. But seriously a big "MAY"?????? WTF???
Say what you want but I will take slow shipping and gladly pay for good packaging over stuff being thrown in a Priority Envelope. No packing or anything to protect the paper corners. I ordered cardstock ribbon and buttons. The envelope was torn and tattered on the corners. So the paper had crumpled corners. The package was stuck to the glue strip so it left brown cardboard on it. Same with the ribbon package. This is a gift and it looks like crap.
Now i either have to repackage or hassle with sending it back. This is from one of the well known companies.

... looks dorky too. If the word "you" were up next to the word "love" and then "like a sister"etc were on the banner it would flow SO much better. There are so many PTI sentiments that don't flow well because the wrong words are emphasized. It seriously drives me BONKERS. (Note the appropriate use of emphasis in that sentence, lol.)
Looked at the MFT ink The pad looks just like the vivid ink pad does. Hands Down the BEST ink for clear stamps. It does stain, but that pad literally grabbed the stamps - felt like u had to peel the stamp off the inkpads sometimes! I will be getting all their ink and slowly changing my colour pallette over to their cardstock
16:25, did you contact the company with your issue? I'd love to know who it was because I order from them all and no one has ever sent me cardstock in a priority envelope. I also know that most other companies bend over backwards to provide good customer service without inconveniencing the customer.
I like the knitting and cross stitch images. I need to see all of the sentiments together to decide whether I get them or not. I really wish the banner die had been designed/produced differently.
I like Nichole's cards today and I am looking forward to sitting down and looking at the rest of the dt's cards. I have so many stamps from other companies that are similar so I am not to worried about being tempted.
The cards are cute enough but I don't knit and my one friend who knits doesn't stamp. Too bad.
Ordered paper from Gina K last weekend and received yesterday in Canada. Super quick shipping. Wish I could say the same about SSS but its true their customer service is top-notch.
As if yesterday wasn't underwhelming enough, enter today. My DH and I looked at the cards last night and went "WTF is this sentiment? 'you like a sister, dear friend' - then I realized that big, honking "LOVE" was the first part of the sentiment. Didn't flow correctly, IMO. And today? Ick. I would rather have a full sweater card than 3/4s of a sweater card. I liked the first day of stuff, but since then, nothing. I can pass.
I'm sorry, but the sentiment "LIFE, sometimes becomes tangled, but you must carry on and work past the knots." is quite possibly the dumbest sentiment to date. It wordy, doesn't flow, and is just trying too hard. I realize everyone has a ton of "Happy Birthday" and "Thinking of you" and "Thank you" sentiments, but the sentiments today are just ridiculous.
I dont find the "Life" sentiment all that bad but I have a work situation that is a very large KNOT in my life right now. Maybe I can relate to it to much. Ha!
Placed a $200 order with MFT this morning. By this afternoon, I had a real Fed Ex shipping notification. It said "picked up". Bought a couple of stamps but mostly dies. I'm also trying their ink.
I'm another former customer who has been forgetting all about the releases during the sneak peek time. It's nostalgic to see what they're up to. And I'm glad the offerings still tend to be dull even though I don't think I could be tempted again.
Tonight I remembered it was release time (dated something!) and thought, you know, I don't care what anyone says, if I like something I'll buy it. But that feeling lasted all of three seconds. Even though any CS issues are "hidden" these days, just knowing how horrible they've been to people in the past, I just would not buy from them.
Not seeing anything that interests me in this month's release. I loved Betsy's projects, though, and she's usually not my favorite, because her style and mine are so totally opposite. She did an awesome job this month.

No, I'm not scared. I know quite a bit about the 3 Amigos from folks who used to be affiliated with PTI one way or another and that is all I need. There are no products that I care that much about. But I hope that when you buy you are happy and I mean that.
10:50 Regarding the AMuse special free set. They CLEARLY stated all over the website that they were not shipping the sets until after October. So whether you ordered it on 10/1 or 10/31 they will all get shipped together.

Re: the SAB flyer-it's a one page document. After I copied and pasted the link, I had to zoom out the view then it loaded and I could zoom back in. It's just a really long page of what looks like all the items spread out on a table.
Apart from the CS issues, and the fact that nothing has interested me for over 12 months, as an International I have no intention of ordering as it is obviously that PTI also have no intention of changing their mailing options.
PTI buyers and non buyers should just go to their separate corners and enjoy life. You want to buy the products? Who cares? It's a craft company. You want to boycott? Who cares? It's your money. Spend it your way,
I just don't understand why PTI's international shipping policy is the way it is. Other much smaller companies have figured it out and, if there is a risk to them, have done a risk analysis and figured out how to make it work. Makes no sense to me - think they would want to maximize sales. But PTI's logic is very strange.
Re: SCS Dirty Girls, I can remember anxiously waiting to see their projects. SCS was a big deal back then and I subscribed to the site just to see those projects. Used to spend a lot of time on that site, looking at all the newly uploaded cards. I rarely do that now, although I may look up ideas for a given SU set.
This is PTI's rationale. I know you hate it when someone here says "trust me" but here is what I know.
Julie will not let anyone else make $$ decisions. Thus, even though it ultimately costs PTI $$, Julie deals directly with customers. She simply does not trust employees to make $$ decisions for PTI. Julie gets flustered and aggravated by customer complaints. She has an inherent distrust of others, continues to spend most of her time on non PTI business, etc.
She made the decision that the money earned on international orders wasn't worth the hassle of dealing with international customers. As I said, a penny wise pound foolish decision, but we all act in our emotional interest sometimes.
While international customers think this makes no sense, in PTI's case it does because of who Julie is. In case you haven't figured it out, Julie is essential 2 out of the 3 amigo votes.
So if you don't like it, don't buy. Julie really doesn't care.
Julie's need to be a control freak has taken a wonderful company with wonderful product and a very loyal and large customer base, and has reduced it to what it is today.
Yes, up to a point. The company is not in as bad a shape as many think, although sales are down from the hay days of all of us pressing click before we even saw the full reveal. Those days are done. But they are still selling tons of product every month. Witness the Donna C's and others who criticize, smack, anonymously and on the forum yet still buy. I say buy if you love the product and don't mind the ocassional mess.
I noticed that Donna posted about buying as well. If the vocal smackers are still quietly buying, they probably aren't hurting quite as badly as we may think.
Donna C admits to purchasing twice in 16 months. She does not condone the screw ups but she still likes some of the product. How do you know she smacks? Yes, she posts here, but only about 1 out of 5 of any of the posts are smacks. I have seen the ones she deleted and they were not in any way smacks. Why don't you guys leave her alone?

This, in a nutshell, is why PTI will never reach its full potential (in spite of the "brilliant" businesswomen that run it).
PTI has an adversarial view of its customers. Legitimate complaints are treated as an attempt by shady characters to put the company out of business. Customers are treated as necessary evils, rather than the reason your business is thriving.
Perhaps a very small percentage of people wanted PTI to go out of business, but I can honestly say that is a very minority view around here. Most people were hoping for improvement so that they could continue purchasing.
But keep treating your customers like enemies, Rick, Julie, et all. Because you know they're just out to rip you off.
I don't know any business owner with half a brain that would turn away 8% of their customer base ( that's what internationals make up in the PTI customer pool) That's like saying your ok losing 10% of your business each month I know my $300 is going elsewhere mainly due to the shipping increase that happened earlier this year

I am an international ex-customer as well. I cannot afford their shipping charges and I am fed up to keep asking. I order from SSS or Gina K and other US companies and I don't have problems.

It included canadians It used to be not too bad, I'd order $100 worth of stuff and get $10 bucks off like 26 dollar shipping So I'd be paying $16 to ship over $100 worth of merchandise $20 off if I ordered $200 so I'd never really pay more than $20 in shipping Last order i put in my cart was $38 shipping for $130 worth of stuff...walked away from that order pretty quickly...
Well, it is obvious that PTI did the math and for whatever reason (perhaps the musings aobut jul8ie above are correct) decided that they make enough moula to charge high shipping to internationals.
It is all about money to those 3 women. That kind of shipping charge is another way to rip off customers that take a little more time and effort. They don't value us, they value only our money. Can't pay it and we are nothing to them.

I never understood why other companies conduct business internationally without any issues, but PTI can't or won't (won't is probably the answer). Sales are only at 8% for internationals now with the current shipping, but they are losing much more than they realize.
I only really wanted one set from this month's release. Actually, I only really wanted one stamp from that set. Back in the good ole days, I would have bought the whole set just for the one stamp. I still buy once in awhile but my overall PTI spending is a 10th of what it used to be. Spending good $ at Impress, Ellen Hutson, I heart papers, Avery Elle, and Mama Elephant (with occasional purchases to Paper Smooches, Technique Tuesday, Lawn Fawn, and MFT for dies only). I'd like to try more CSS, but the $$$ prices are too much.
If PTIs business practices don't put them out of business, their increasingly mediocre designs will.
I am Canadian and I thought that the minimum shipping charge was $23.00. Whenever I ordered a few of us would go together and spend over $200. Not anymore. The only purchases that I have made in the past year have been from the for sale board.

Not all internationals are Canadians. There are a couple of oceans between PTI and me - I gave up on waiting for changes to PTi shipping. They are obviously not interested in the international market. SSS get my orders to me within 2 weeks, at a fraction of the postage. PTI, in those silly boxes filled with packaging material, would take 4-6 weeks and cost a bomb.
PTI could increase their 8% international market - it would be easy to do so if they cared. Others can do it because they want as much business as they can get.
But then, I am not one of the wonderful business women running the show.
I could still easily spend $150 a month if they would work on their Canadian shipping. I don't care for many of the new stamps but I could still buy the cardstock.
Well, I would certainly be more tempted anyways. There is that whole pesky customer service thing that is a deterrent.

I'm impressed if so! Back when I was ordering, PTI orders took at least 10 days to arrive in California. My last order took 20 something days, which is why it was my last order.
I have to say that I have been considering breaking my very long purchasing hiatus and have been trying to put together an order. I was waiting on the Peaceful Pinecones set to come back in stock, and it did within an actually reasonable time frame. Unfortunately, the freaking dies are out of stock right now. I'll place an order if they come back in stock in the next few days....
In any case, it's good to see that their stock issues seem to be improving some.
I think these days the PTI orders move quicker if you order current items. I think the order is slowed down when you order things from a few years back. I dont think their warehouse situation is a real warehouse setting and older items might not be easy to access. That is just my thought
With that said - why dont they have a sale like everyone else and discontinue and thin out inventorry. It would even clean the website store up to get rid of some of the items
PTI, clean up your website. You have Nestabilities listed that you no longer carry. Another whole page dedicated to Prima flowers that are all out of stock. Punches, Palette inks, the list is long.
I only know is because I was looking for the Marvy snowflake punches and I remembered PTI used to carry them. And to take a break from cleaning!
I don't think so I ordered some stuff from them last year Black Friday, mostly MFT stuff Like 10 seconds later I got an email fom MFT announcing their 20% off Emailed SSS to see if they would honour it and they never got back to me ( except to tell me that I could not cancel my order without paying a restocking fee)
It has taken SSS two weeks to ship my order and seeing how it usually takes three weeks for my orders to arrive I will have new stamps to use for NEXT Christmas. Shazbat.
I suggest PTI work their butts off to get release orders out if they think they are going to be flooded with orders from any kind of sale. Or they are digging a hole to fall in again.

Add Flourishes, Verve, and almost every other company to the list. i have had 11 emails today from companies like these and Stamper's Best and Sassy Stamps and others.
The thing I noticed is that last year they gave 20-30% off everything. This year almost every company has limited to ribbon, or wood stamps, or something and you cannot get that on everything on the site.
Need some help smackers! I am looking for a die(I think), that is a round Christmas ornament. The hanger is a separate piece. I have seen some chipboard pieces cut from this die and I want it.. Any clue who makes it??

11:42 - I think someone posted they used Gorilla Glue for their detached ink pads but like the OP mentioned - use it sparingly.

Someone else has mentioned previously on the very odd use of emphasis in recent sentiments. I think Stitched Sentiments is one of the worst. I say this as a needleworker. I couldn't send one of these to any of my stitching friends (all extremely accomplished needlework artists). The sentiments are just too "off".
In her quest to be different, NH missed the mark completely. Had she done a simple "thinking of you" or "wishing you well" or "happy birthday" in a cross stitch font, I could use this set. But seriously a big "MAY"?????? WTF???
Say what you want but I will take slow shipping and gladly pay for good packaging over stuff being thrown in a Priority Envelope. No packing or anything to protect the paper corners. I ordered cardstock ribbon and buttons. The envelope was torn and tattered on the corners. So the paper had crumpled corners. The package was stuck to the glue strip so it left brown cardboard on it. Same with the ribbon package. This is a gift and it looks like crap.
Now i either have to repackage or hassle with sending it back. This is from one of the well known companies.

The pad looks just like the vivid ink pad does.
Hands Down the BEST ink for clear stamps. It does stain, but that pad literally grabbed the stamps - felt like u had to peel the stamp off the inkpads sometimes!
I will be getting all their ink and slowly changing my colour pallette over to their cardstock
16:25, did you contact the company with your issue? I'd love to know who it was because I order from them all and no one has ever sent me cardstock in a priority envelope. I also know that most other companies bend over backwards to provide good customer service without inconveniencing the customer.

As if yesterday wasn't underwhelming enough, enter today. My DH and I looked at the cards last night and went "WTF is this sentiment? 'you like a sister, dear friend' - then I realized that big, honking "LOVE" was the first part of the sentiment. Didn't flow correctly, IMO. And today? Ick. I would rather have a full sweater card than 3/4s of a sweater card. I liked the first day of stuff, but since then, nothing. I can pass.

I'm sorry, but the sentiment "LIFE, sometimes becomes tangled, but you must carry on and work past the knots." is quite possibly the dumbest sentiment to date. It wordy, doesn't flow, and is just trying too hard. I realize everyone has a ton of "Happy Birthday" and "Thinking of you" and "Thank you" sentiments, but the sentiments today are just ridiculous.
I dont find the "Life" sentiment all that bad but I have a work situation that is a very large KNOT in my life right now. Maybe I can relate to it to much. Ha!
Placed a $200 order with MFT this morning. By this afternoon, I had a real Fed Ex shipping notification. It said "picked up". Bought a couple of stamps but mostly dies. I'm also trying their ink.
I'm another former customer who has been forgetting all about the releases during the sneak peek time. It's nostalgic to see what they're up to. And I'm glad the offerings still tend to be dull even though I don't think I could be tempted again.
Tonight I remembered it was release time (dated something!) and thought, you know, I don't care what anyone says, if I like something I'll buy it. But that feeling lasted all of three seconds. Even though any CS issues are "hidden" these days, just knowing how horrible they've been to people in the past, I just would not buy from them.

I still think the people who are quietly buying are buying less, and many have gone away completely. Nothing has been selling out and the hype that used to be is definitely not there.

It is hard for me to smack PTI since I don't buy from them or visit the forum anymore. It has been well over a year since I have bought anything there. I did sit on the sidelines for a bit in hopes of something changing, but for me nothing did. I just don't understand why PTI's international shipping policy is the way it is. Other much smaller companies have figured it out and, if there is a risk to them, have done a risk analysis and figured out how to make it work. Makes no sense to me - think they would want to maximize sales. But PTI's logic is very strange.
Re: SCS Dirty Girls, I can remember anxiously waiting to see their projects. SCS was a big deal back then and I subscribed to the site just to see those projects. Used to spend a lot of time on that site, looking at all the newly uploaded cards. I rarely do that now, although I may look up ideas for a given SU set.
This is PTI's rationale. I know you hate it when someone here says "trust me" but here is what I know.
Julie will not let anyone else make $$ decisions. Thus, even though it ultimately costs PTI $$, Julie deals directly with customers. She simply does not trust employees to make $$ decisions for PTI. Julie gets flustered and aggravated by customer complaints. She has an inherent distrust of others, continues to spend most of her time on non PTI business, etc.
She made the decision that the money earned on international orders wasn't worth the hassle of dealing with international customers. As I said, a penny wise pound foolish decision, but we all act in our emotional interest sometimes.
While international customers think this makes no sense, in PTI's case it does because of who Julie is. In case you haven't figured it out, Julie is essential 2 out of the 3 amigo votes.
So if you don't like it, don't buy. Julie really doesn't care.
Julie's need to be a control freak has taken a wonderful company with wonderful product and a very loyal and large customer base, and has reduced it to what it is today.
Yes, up to a point. The company is not in as bad a shape as many think, although sales are down from the hay days of all of us pressing click before we even saw the full reveal. Those days are done. But they are still selling tons of product every month. Witness the Donna C's and others who criticize, smack, anonymously and on the forum yet still buy. I say buy if you love the product and don't mind the ocassional mess.
I noticed that Donna posted about buying as well. If the vocal smackers are still quietly buying, they probably aren't hurting quite as badly as we may think.
Donna C admits to purchasing twice in 16 months. She does not condone the screw ups but she still likes some of the product. How do you know she smacks? Yes, she posts here, but only about 1 out of 5 of any of the posts are smacks. I have seen the ones she deleted and they were not in any way smacks. Why don't you guys leave her alone?

This, in a nutshell, is why PTI will never reach its full potential (in spite of the "brilliant" businesswomen that run it).
PTI has an adversarial view of its customers. Legitimate complaints are treated as an attempt by shady characters to put the company out of business. Customers are treated as necessary evils, rather than the reason your business is thriving.
Perhaps a very small percentage of people wanted PTI to go out of business, but I can honestly say that is a very minority view around here. Most people were hoping for improvement so that they could continue purchasing.

I never understood why other companies conduct business internationally without any issues, but PTI can't or won't (won't is probably the answer). Sales are only at 8% for internationals now with the current shipping, but they are losing much more than they realize.
I only really wanted one set from this month's release. Actually, I only really wanted one stamp from that set. Back in the good ole days, I would have bought the whole set just for the one stamp. I still buy once in awhile but my overall PTI spending is a 10th of what it used to be. Spending good $ at Impress, Ellen Hutson, I heart papers, Avery Elle, and Mama Elephant (with occasional purchases to Paper Smooches, Technique Tuesday, Lawn Fawn, and MFT for dies only). I'd like to try more CSS, but the $$$ prices are too much.

I am Canadian and I thought that the minimum shipping charge was $23.00. Whenever I ordered a few of us would go together and spend over $200. Not anymore. The only purchases that I have made in the past year have been from the for sale board.

Not all internationals are Canadians. There are a couple of oceans between PTI and me - I gave up on waiting for changes to PTi shipping. They are obviously not interested in the international market.
SSS get my orders to me within 2 weeks, at a fraction of the postage. PTI, in those silly boxes filled with packaging material, would take 4-6 weeks and cost a bomb.
PTI could increase their 8% international market - it would be easy to do so if they cared. Others can do it because they want as much business as they can get.
But then, I am not one of the wonderful business women running the show.

I think these days the PTI orders move quicker if you order current items. I think the order is slowed down when you order things from a few years back. I dont think their warehouse situation is a real warehouse setting and older items might not be easy to access. That is just my thought
With that said - why dont they have a sale like everyone else and discontinue and thin out inventorry. It would even clean the website store up to get rid of some of the items

I don't think so
I ordered some stuff from them last year Black Friday, mostly MFT stuff
Like 10 seconds later I got an email fom MFT announcing their 20% off
Emailed SSS to see if they would honour it and they never got back to me ( except to tell me that I could not cancel my order without paying a restocking fee)
It has taken SSS two weeks to ship my order and seeing how it usually takes three weeks for my orders to arrive I will have new stamps to use for NEXT Christmas. Shazbat.
Underground rumors are that PTI will be having a big sale on Friday to be announced on Nichole's Blog.
Well, since the only sale they've ever had was a whopping 5% discount, I guess it won't take much to be considered a big sale by their standards.
I suggest PTI work their butts off to get release orders out if they think they are going to be flooded with orders from any kind of sale. Or they are digging a hole to fall in again.

Not true - I ordered the day after the release, and it is showing up as "electronic shipping information received."
so let's recap. someone named carol says all orders have shipped. someone anonymous claims her order has not shipped. but she or he is going by the information on the famously effed up website that he whose name i'm not going to mention didnt create but somehow is responsible for fixing.
does anyone else think that PTI should become a tv reality show? love this blog and am thankful that PTI went into business, messed up so badly that some lass from across the sea went ballistic which gave birth to this smack blog.

No, smackers only have an issue if you complain whilst knowing you are taking a gamble while ordering
....it's okay if you've heard of somebody else that is having a cs problem though. LOL! You will however get handslapped if you knowingly order and post about it here. That's just my opinion.

Add Flourishes, Verve, and almost every other company to the list. i have had 11 emails today from companies like these and Stamper's Best and Sassy Stamps and others.
The thing I noticed is that last year they gave 20-30% off everything. This year almost every company has limited to ribbon, or wood stamps, or something and you cannot get that on everything on the site.
Need some help smackers! I am looking for a die(I think), that is a round Christmas ornament. The hanger is a separate piece. I have seen some chipboard pieces cut from this die and I want it.. Any clue who makes it??
