A new post because

Lisa Johnson has joined up with My Favorite Things (mftstamps.com) and will have her own line with them!

I'm pretty chuffed and can't wait to get some 'PTI-like style' from her work but without the pain of dealing with PTI hahaha

  1. First suck it

  2. hahahahaha I LOVE Lisa's post on her blog - "My Favorite Things is a wonderful company filled with quality exclusive stamps, cardstock, ribbon, buttons, felt... and other amazing products. More importantly, they are warm and caring, filled with integrity and honesty."

I bet NH is just FUMING

    ReplyDelete
  3. Mass mutiny shows that the former PTI dt have some integrity that they would walk away.

    ReplyDelete
  4. Yay for Lisa! I just placed my first cardstock order with MFT to celebrate the news!!

    ReplyDelete
  5. From other thread:
I just typed in the entire name of a stamp set on the website and it came up. That's an improvement no one seems to have noticed.

Not sure what you mean. It's always come up, so long as you enter the name exactly correctly.

  6. Very interesting about Lisa - I'm so happy for her, and happy that we'll be able to buy her designs somewhere other than PTI. Also very interesting how both she, and MFT, seemed to both be taking subtle shots at Nichole in the announcement - MFT by making a big deal about how long this has been in the works, and Lisa by her gushing (rightly so) about MFT's honesty and interity! ;)

    ReplyDelete
  7. And more boring, same old peeks. Really, PTI, is that the best you have to offer? I can't believe a lot of people want a mega sized stationery set.

    ReplyDelete
  8. Lisa Johnson: If you read here ...

    You go girl!!

Same goes for every other talented person (designer OR customer) that has ever held their head up high and moved on from PTI.

  9. Are the sneak peaks just reconstituted old designs, or is that my imagination? So unimpressed with the juvenile look of these designs.

  11. Sorry about posting twice. Computer glitch.

    ReplyDelete
  12. @04:12 I would never believe for a minute that Kim van der Sanden, Jody Morrow or whoever from MFT that might have typed up their blog post announcing Lisa's arrival would ever stoop so low as to take pot shots at another company. Maybe Lisa is implying such in her blog post, but I'd never assume any such thing from a company as fabulous as MFT. They're way too professional and high-class to go to that level. JMHO, and I'd love to say I'm affiliated but I'm not.

    ReplyDelete
  13. computer glitch my ass. now it's the computer's fault you can't type.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Really love what the Avery Elle DT is doing with their stamps. Am really close to purchasing a few. In particular, check out JJ's Bolton's creative use of their sunshine and flower stamps. (And, no, I am NOT affiliated with them.)

  15. I wonder if Lisa saw the writing on the wall and decided she wanted out and started fishing around for another company who would let her join, or if MFT saw an opportunity to poach her and they were the ones who gave Lisa the idea to leave PTI.

Anyway, about it being MFT: I totally called it a few days ago so now I feel awesomesauce. XD

    ReplyDelete
  16. I totally agree that Lisa is emphasizing the "integrity" of MFT as a rub to PTI. It is hard to read it any other way.

    ReplyDelete
  17. @4:10 it wasn't always that way. you could only type in one word of the name. glad they fixed that.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Who cares about Lisa joining MFT. If her post was a jab at her former employer, shame on her.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Thanks for this:

    http://rgcards.blogspot.com/

    VERY creative use of stamps!!!

    ReplyDelete
  20. Blech! Sneak Peeks are boring!
Happy for Lisa, and I agree there is a definite PTI slam in her post, but so what they deserve it. MFT dies are nice, but I don't care for their stamps at all. All the alternative stamp companies seem to be headed by wonderful, caring, respectful of their customers people, but design wise they are lacking for me.That is so sad!

    ReplyDelete
  21. Can those who have ordered from clear and simple stamps help me with their shipping policies? I am looking to possibly put in an order in but their website is awfully hard to navigate.

    ReplyDelete
  22. 6:27, why shame on her? You can value integrity and if your former employer doesn't that's their bad.

    ReplyDelete
  23. I agree that MFT dies are excellent and the stamps are blah. I do have issues with their very slow shipping. They are slower than PTI for me. I have ordered some MFT dies through Simon Says, but they have the slowest shipping of any company I have dealt with and additionally they process and send your order and don't tell you items are backordered and you don't know things are missing until you get your order. It is very frustrating. I wish there was another good source for MFT dies.

    ReplyDelete
  24. agreed, the sneak peaks are not wowing me at all. and who really needs a huge ass stamp that says "handmade stationery"? Am i to put this on the front of a card? am i messing up the handmade stationery by stamping handmade stationery on it? on the back of each piece? i'm just not getting the use of this stamp I guess.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Also, if PTI had integrity then Lisa's comment would not matter. Sounds like the only one doing anything wrong in this situation is PTI, for not having integrity.

    ReplyDelete
  26. I imagine the handmade stationary is for a label for a package? Kind of weird to say the least.

I do think the little tree is cute.

    ReplyDelete
  27. They started selling MFT dies at Ellen Hutson. It doesn't seem to be the newest releases? They seem pretty expensive to me, too.

    ReplyDelete
  28. MFT dies are expensive but they have one thing over PTI dies. They have tiny holes in them so they come out better. I love the pinwheel one.

    ReplyDelete
  29. There isn't anything in the sneak peeks that makes me want to buy this month!

    ReplyDelete
  30. I like MFT's Dienamics stamps and dies. Love the big and bold fonts. I do not like their Pure Innocence range and their DT's use of pattern paper. Too much pattern paper on their cards.
So happy for Lisa and MFT is lucky to have her as an illustrator and as a DT.
I think Clear and Simple Stamps's dies are very very expensive. I love them but very expensive for me. And they seem to release a lot. A bit overwhelming to me :(

    ReplyDelete
  31. As stinky as PTI is, I think it's crappy of a former employee to make a not-so-subtle dig at a former employer. Why stoop to their level?

    ReplyDelete
  32. Did anyone see the card sample for MIM??? It is absolutely ghastly! The colour, the design is just terrible! If I was the owner I would have sent that back. Heather must have phoned that one in!

    ReplyDelete
  33. It could only be a "dig" if PT had no integrity and honesty. Saying MFT has those is only a dig if another company severely lacks those. It isn't anyone's fault but PTI that they don't have integrity and to say someone does have integrity is not wrong.

    ReplyDelete
  34. The MIM's since mid-winter have been such a fail, week after week. It is like the whole company from design, creativity, images, etc. dropped out when CS went so bad and Nichole got so nasty.

    ReplyDelete
  35. 7:59 I liked the card. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

8:02 If you don't like them why do you watch them? So you can bitch about them?

    ReplyDelete
  36. 7:59, I read your comment and then went to check out the MIM. Was expecting something much worse. I don't think the card is hideous... it doesn't blow me away, but it's nice for a masculine card. To each his own. I like the technique too, might actually try to get a card made this week. :)

    ReplyDelete
  37. Why is it okay for NH to be passive aggressive but not a former DT?

    ReplyDelete
  38. I would never believe for a minute that Kim van der Sanden, Jody Morrow or whoever from MFT that might have typed up their blog post announcing Lisa's arrival would ever stoop so low as to take pot shots at another company. Maybe Lisa is implying such in her blog post, but I'd never assume any such thing from a company as fabulous as MFT. They're way too professional and high-class to go to that level.
    --------------
BULLSHIT they are. Ask a few of their former DT members. There are many who know the true colors of those "high-class" girls. I hope that things have changed, and I hope Lisa demands they treat her with respect.

    ReplyDelete
  39. NO ONE HERE knows if Lisa is even being passive aggressive. it was ASSUMED that her comment was a dig, but honestly, if she's saying how nice it is to have integrity, wouldn't that make her woman enough to NOT dig at NH or PTI?

You guys can say all day long Lisa is sticking it to Nichole, but I think Lisa is a classy lady and meant her comment to be a compliment to her new employer. Why can't it be just that?

FYI, smackers, everything isn't always riddled with innuendo or back-handedness or intrigue. Sometimes a compliment is just that....a frickin' compliment.

    ReplyDelete
  40. ^^^ was for 7:58 and all others who are smacking on Lisa's comment...basically those talking out of their ass since they don't know what the hell they are talking about.

    ReplyDelete
  41. ^^^
IS Lisa being passive aggressive?? I agree with the above posters that her comments are only snide if she has a problem with PTI's integrity, which she never openly said she did. Careful not to put words into her mouth.

Nichole HAS been passive aggressive to customers, with the issue posted right on the forum where we can see them.

That's why some of us are here.

So yes, I do think there is a difference.

    ReplyDelete
  42. 9:29 was a response to 8:44

    ReplyDelete
  43. Regardless, I think Lisa will be a welcome addition to MFT. I agree their shipping is slow but I still love that they ship to Canada for a nominal fee. So far I've only bought one sentiment set but maybe I'll spend more in future.

    ReplyDelete
  44. @6:39 shipping for Clear and Simple Stamps is a flat $6.50 for all orders or free shipping over $60.

    Found it here: www.clearandsimplestampsonline.com/contactus/faq/

    ReplyDelete
  45. JJ's cards for Avery Elle are awesome. I can't believe what that lady comes up with.

Thanks for the nudge to go see.

    ReplyDelete
  46. 9:32, thanks for clarifying because my comment was right before yours and I was like "what? we both say the same thing!" LOL

I think 8:44 is responding to either 7:58 or 6:27.

    ReplyDelete
  47. LOL, I hadn't seen your comment when I did mine (guess my typing must be slow), pushed submit and ... Ooops!! :)

    I agree, 8:24 was probably a response.

    ReplyDelete
  48. TOTALLY agree... the MIM card is fugly and completely amateurish!

    ReplyDelete
  49. I used to feel like this:

    http://forum.papertreyink.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=36937

my life revolved around the PTI calendar and I used to think of PTI as family.

Now if I said anything like this I'd feel like a pawn or a minion. (No, not said to bash the posters personally.)

For me it was an addiction and letting go has been somewhat like coming off drugs.

PTI's poor CS actions lost me, but in a way I'm really grateful to them for doing it.

    Thank you PTI.

    ReplyDelete
  50. 9:25 I agree with you. Smackers read too much into things. I guess it's because they don't have anything better to do.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Pricecheck is a tool

    ReplyDelete
  52. ^^^ And you feel this way because...??

    ReplyDelete
  53. Awww, don't be so hard on yourself, 11:49. I'm sure you can find plenty of worthwhile things to do with your life if you put your mind to it.

    ReplyDelete
  54. MIM card was ugly, but Heather did a good job of explaining the technique.I think she has a pleasant voice, and speaking style.

    ReplyDelete
  55. I just love the uni who has to keep getting her digs in. She's actually only making things worse for PTI when I'm sure she thinks she is doing them a favor by being here. She's like the unpleasant maiden aunt who tries to throw a damper over every family gathering but ends up sitting by herself and stewing because everyone else just gets on with having fun. Epic fail!!

    ReplyDelete
  56. To the "non smacker" at 11:49, oops you have me there. I even read into Lisa's blog that under "Places to get things I love to use" PTI wasn't even listed ...

    ReplyDelete
  57. There are still 83 SAF totes in stock! HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Guess the elementary school age range crap isn't that interesting to a lot of people!

    ReplyDelete
  58. Also, if PTI had integrity then Lisa's comment would not matter. Sounds like the only one doing anything wrong in this situation is PTI, for not having integrity.
    ------------------------------------
ITA. Add to that, nearly every DT member who has ever left PTI has made a point to mention being thankful for moving on to a company with integrity. As if it shouldn't be taken for granted that a stamp company would automatically have any. Coincidence? I doubt it.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Hear, hear 9:25. I completely agree with you.

I think Lisa is just excited about her new adventure and was simply stating what values are important to her. I'm sure PTI is now in the past for her and she is only looking forward. She may have not realized that her comments could be conceived as the opposite of what she experienced at PTI, but to come to that conclusion, is only a speculation of her thoughts and it not a proven truth of her own words. To characterize her on such speculation is quite unfair.

    ReplyDelete
  60. Another source for MFT dies/stamps is FranticStamper.com. Like Ellen Huston, though, her inventory doesn't included the newest releases. But she has a lot of stuff in stock that others don't have (e.g., stacked stars, royal leaves, etc.). She has a lot of older Pnk Paiselee, Echo Park, MME sets that are hard to find . . . and some of them at good prices. I've ordered twice from her with no problems. Also love that you can save your cart and IT DOES NOT DUMP. Shoot, you can save multiple carts. PTI should take note. (And, NO, I am not affiliated with them. Just another person who loves MFT dies and buys plenty.)

    ReplyDelete
  61. 10:10, yes I love browsing other DTs because it helps me realize that Nichole and Co. are not the only game in town. Lots of talent out there that can transform a "so-so" stamp set.

    ReplyDelete
  62. @9:25 ... I agree that Lisa's comment was a dig at PTI, whether she meant it that way or not. It's very similar to when random people declare things like, "Wow! I got my order in a timely manner!" Just the fact that these things have to be mentioned at all is a glaring reminder of how low the bar is at PTI.

    ReplyDelete
  63. And let's not forget that Becky Oehler's said something very similar about being glad to work for people with integrity (I am paraphrasing). It just comes across as being something foremost on their minds.

    ReplyDelete
  64. 14:04 or that in this post she linked everything except where the 'rose' cardstock came from (Autumn Rose?)

I agree with people who don't want to put anything in anyone's mouth. But I don't think we should miss what they AREN'T saying either.

    ReplyDelete
  65. http://www.poppypaperie.com/poppy_paperie/2012/06/class-of-2012.html

    This post :)

    ReplyDelete
  66. She also did not link the source for the white cardstock.

    ReplyDelete
  67. I think it's hugely telling that she took almost all of the PTI DT off her "Great Blogs" roll and that she moved her PTI stamps sets from the front page to a link on the sidebar.

    ReplyDelete
  68. PTI must have some way to hush up these dt, because then never say a bad word about PTI, and yet they clearly get rid of any evidence that they were ever connected to PTI. If only they would talk, could you imagine what they would say?

    ReplyDelete
  69. That is what you call integrity, not 'hush money'. I've been on a couple of crappy DT's before and would never bad mouth them, regardless of how I feel about them. It's just not right.

    ReplyDelete
  70. @18:04 ... Quite a few have talked. It was made quite clear how they felt about PTI and how they were treated. I am not sure how many more DT need to talk/walk before people get a clear picture. But then, there are still people who think the Earth is flat...

    ReplyDelete
  71. another place for MFT dies and stamps is www.awdml.com

They have a huge selection of dies from MFT, WPlus9, and Memory Box.

They have free shipping after $75 or if you use a coupon code from their newsletter, free after $50.

    ReplyDelete
  72. Does it seem like MFT is having a release every other day?

    ReplyDelete
  73. Just got the daily email from Peachy Cheap - today's deal is four bottles of the Mister Huey sprays for less than half price. You too can splatter ink oh-so-artfully all over your cards like Dawn and Mish. Pass.

    ReplyDelete
  74. I just don't get the splotchy look on cards. Too messy for me - looks like I screwed something up.

    ReplyDelete
  75. 21:08 MFT has a monthly release plus a couple of weeks before the release you can buy a package that has a few soon-to-be released items. There is a good bit of activity on the blog though.

    ReplyDelete
  76. Today's projects by all the DT...big fat YAWN. Even Betsy can't wow me.

I'll be saving my $$ for the new AMuse holiday catty. Got a peek of it and there's some really cute stuff in there!

    ReplyDelete
  77. do you have a link for the AMuse holiday catalog?

    ReplyDelete
  78. On Nichole's pastel pink card from today, why did she put giant leaves behind the tree? It doesn't make any sense. I'm all for embellishing to balance a design, but don't put something there just to have it if it's the totally wrong scale!

    ReplyDelete
  79. I didn't mind a couple of Betsy's cards today. The rest were completely average from everyone else.

    ReplyDelete
  80. Danielle's cards are weird today.

    ReplyDelete
  81. Love Betsy's and Nicole's cards today.

    ReplyDelete
  82. Loved the leaves behind Nichole's tree. It is called art and loved the color it added.

On the other hand, Heather's cards are all so horribly drab. I hate the colors she uses lately.

Danielle's last card today looks smudged and dirty. Ink below the sentiment and dirt on the card. Was that on purpose?

    ReplyDelete
  83. Those A Muse sets in their new holiday catalog are TOO expensive. $27 a set for sets that are nothing new and not that big are way too much for me. Their shipping is too high too.

    ReplyDelete
  84. I have to have the new Blueberry and Wisteria pattern packs. Other than that, the only thing that calls to me is the little tree and I could live without that. No SAF for me even though I like the free set.

    ReplyDelete
  85. I must be in the minority again. I love Betsy's cards and see me buying this month.

I am curious as to what 9:22 posted about some MFT ladies not being as "high class" as another posted. Maybe it's not only PTI with the attitude problems?

    ReplyDelete
  86. Several years back, I received a very nasty response from Kim over a customer service issue. Since then I try to stay away from MFT. I have bought a couple of dies through Simon Says, but SS is also a problem.

    ReplyDelete
  87. So far, I like the sneak peek that Dawn showed of the new Instagram-type frame die. The stamp sets are nothing special - not much that I couldn't substitute with something else. Dawn's new signature greetings set looks like it's going to be all cutesy sayings. I don't have any use for cutesy, but I guess it's nice to not put out a set with yet ANOTHER basic "happy birthday", "thank you", "get well soon", etc. Also noticed that Dawn didn't use her orange/pink or blue/green color combos this time. My eyes thank you, Dawn!

    ReplyDelete
  88. On Nichole's pastel pink card from today, why did she put giant leaves behind the tree? It doesn't make any sense. I'm all for embellishing to balance a design, but don't put something there just to have it if it's the totally wrong scale!

    ===============

    It's not a tree! it's a flower on a stick...duh!....lol

    ReplyDelete
  89. Regarding NH's use of leaves on the tree...
As Bob Ross used to say, "it's your world, you can do anything you want!"
It doesn't bother me in the least that her tree doesn't follow standard natural guidelines, it's a card, not fine art!
Then again, what Picasso created was considered fine art...

    ReplyDelete
  90. --and raindrops are not primary colored dots.

    ReplyDelete
  91. Todays reveal...BORING!

    ReplyDelete
  92. I loved Nichole's first 2 cards, Betsy's first card and Dawn's 2nd & 3rd card.

Hated Danielle's work (never thought I'd say that about anything she makes because normally I love her) but I blame Studio Calico. She's really gravitating to that style and it's not for me. I'm sure others love it though.

Maile's cards didn't impress me this time. I love her style but these cards were 'meh'.

I agree with someone that said "mentioning that a company has integrity shouldn't have to be said" <<< (me paraphrasing) We should be able to safely assume all companies have integrity. But the optimist in me still wants to believe Lisa's comments were simply complimentary towards MFT.

    ReplyDelete
  93. I don't see anything so far that is a must have from PTI.

    ReplyDelete
  94. ^^^ think outside the box.

    ReplyDelete
  95. 7:22 think outside the box. sorry for the double post.

    ReplyDelete
  96. love the vases but I'll only get the dies.

    ReplyDelete
  97. I am not going for the vases die. I have the seed packet and the negative cut upside down is a perfect vase.

    ReplyDelete
  98. or toilet seat

    ReplyDelete
  99. 7:55, now THAT is thinking outside the box.

    ReplyDelete
  100. 07:55 and 07:59 - thanks for the tips! You never know when you'd need a toilet seat for a card front. =)

    ReplyDelete
  101. ^^"Sorry you had a crappy day" or "Heard you're feeling craptastical" That's awesome

    ReplyDelete
  102. So, is Clear Dollar Stamps now just totally digis? They have a new blog and it's all about the digis :( I'm a purist!

    ReplyDelete
  103. Not a PTI smack but these are 2 of the worst, most ugliest (and to borrow from the above poster) craptastical cards I've ever seen.

    http://scrapbookandcardstodaymag.typepad.com/scrapbook_cards_today_blo/2012/07/popping-up-elements-with-virginiaand-one-more.html

    ReplyDelete
  104. Wow. Those weren't the wisest choices of patterned paper, were they?

    ReplyDelete
  105. I love Danielle's first two cards today! And the last one, which someone said looked smudged and dirty, that's just Rustic White card stock. I don't really care for those last two cards. Too busy for me.

    ReplyDelete
  106. 10:31, those are unfortunate, aren't they? That 2nd one, the pp mix is really bad.

    ReplyDelete
  107. Wait a minute...they are setting up a patterned paper split 3-way, and it will cost $10 ($8 for paper $2 for shipping)? First of all, $8 X 3 = $24, and the pack is only $12. SOmeone is trying to make $ off people...and why not just spend the extra $2 for the whole pack? Am I missing something here?

    ReplyDelete
  108. I'm pretty sure that the $10 for the paper split is for both new colors being released.

    ReplyDelete
  109. Yes, the $10 is for 1/3 of both new colors this month. I'm happy to participate since it means that I can get a small sampling of the papers without having to pay $6.95 shipping for a small order.

    ReplyDelete
  110. What other places sell Impression plates besides PTI and Taylored Expressions?

    ReplyDelete
  111. Oh, I see. For both. Makes more sense now, I'll tell you...I held off on those pattern paper packs for awhile. I started with just one, Aqua Mist, and now I want them all! I have like 5 colors so far now. They are an addiction in collecting, themselves! I just don't like the leafy and damask patterns.

    Yep.... craptastical, for sure! Blech!

  113. 14:09, WPlus 9 has a chevron impression plate. It's pretty cool.

    ReplyDelete
  114. 14:09, Clear and Simple has a few impression plates.

    Cheery Lynn has a bunch.

    ReplyDelete
  115. Before I take the plunge into PTI felt. What are the other options?

    ReplyDelete
  116. Same quality felt, can't tell you how the colors compare to PTI though:

  117. I've ordered from here and the CS was awesome.

    http://www.etsy.com/shop/FeltOnTheFly?ref=ss_profile

I can't remember how I found them but there is a color match for PTI colors. I recall that you could contact the shop's owner and she may have a list of similar colors to PTI.

    ReplyDelete
  118. Hey Trell, I found the list of PTI color matches for ya.

    http://feltonthefly.blogspot.com/search?q=papertrey

    ReplyDelete
  119. Hey, Trell. I visited your blog for the first time last week. Loved your cards. You are very talented!!!

Is anyone else finding the stamp reveals to be completely uninspiring? Snoozefest for me.

    ReplyDelete
  120. The DT has made me want exactly zero. Usually Maile's cards are nice but she has been off for 2-3 months now. Betsy's has some ok stuff and Nichole had card here or there that are ok. The rest BLAH.

That Dkirby is one ballsy broad, asking which team Mish will join, and I love her for it.

Tell is like it is, girls.

    ReplyDelete
  123. I actually don't see them locking that thread as much as I see it mysteriously getting pruned just for the pure fact that is must have NH searing mad.

  124. Donna C....you cheeky little monkey. I see you commenting to win on today's blog.

Don't worry, I'm here smacking and over there hoping to win free stuff too.

    ReplyDelete
  125. You have the wrong Donna C.

    ReplyDelete
  126. Um, is it me or don't they already have a car die (Enjoy the Ride) a train die (Train Tracks) trucks (Truckin' It) and an airplane (Fly Away)??? WTH!

    ReplyDelete
  127. 6:21, oh. Sorry.

    ReplyDelete
  128. The releases are all starting to look alike any more. More alphabets that look like the old ones. More vases that look like other vases. More vehicles that look like other vehicles. Clouds have already been done. They are totally out of ideas and copying their own stuff over and over. Bored. To. Death.

    ReplyDelete
  129. 14:11 or whoever can answer this...is the patterned paper actually paper or cardstock?

    ReplyDelete
  130. @14:11 paper. HTH

    ReplyDelete
  131. The patterned paper packs are actually paper. Nice layering paper. Perfect weight IMO.

    ReplyDelete
  132. 6:21 I thought that same thing when I saw the set this morning.

    ReplyDelete
  133. I thought it was all a copy too. I will say that they are tiny. If you look they are the same size of the tiny treats dinosaur as well as inside the tiny framed out from this month. so although they look exactly like the other stamps they are much smaller.

still boring - and why the mother eff do you call a set little hot rod and not have one single hot rod or sports car in there? The name is almost insulting - just ask any man if his mustang or corvette looks like like a VW Bug

    ReplyDelete
  134. Another boring sneak for me. I don't know why I even bother each day to look!

    ReplyDelete
  135. To me, the paper is halfway between printer paper weight and cardstock weight. A nice paper, but sturdy.

    ReplyDelete
  136. the cards on NH's blog make me so happy I didn't order this round of inks. even with all her pouncing, she still got crappy coverage.

    ReplyDelete
  137. Nichole demonstrates over and over how awful those inks really are.

    ReplyDelete
  138. If NH was using the new SU ink pads she wouldn't have to pound her stamps a million times.

    ReplyDelete
  139. I notice that even NH uses Palette Charcoal for grey ink and not PTI Smokey Shadow.

    ReplyDelete
  140. and why the mother eff do you call a set little hot rod and not have one single hot rod or sports car in there? The name is almost insulting - just ask any man if his mustang or corvette looks like like a VW Bug
    ---------------------
I was wondering the same thing! I even scrolled back through the post to see if I had missed something.

    ReplyDelete
  141. Just found this stamp store on the web. She's from Australia and is a one-woman business. Some of her stamps remind me of PTI and I like a lot of them.

    ReplyDelete
  142. ^^ guess it would help to have the link :)

    http://www.annabellestamps.com/

    ReplyDelete
  143. I get more GinaK than PTI from that Annabelle place...

    ReplyDelete
  144. This is a real snoozer of a release.

    ReplyDelete
  145. yeah - and because it is a snoozer, this place is quiet.... ugh. I need something to get me through the workday people!

    ReplyDelete
  146. I hear you 12:20! Maybe if I say sausage fingers 3 times, a unicorn or two will come out of hiding.

Sausage fingers, sausage fingers, sausage fingers

    ReplyDelete
  147. OK, I'll bite... with 80-some tote bag kits left, what do you guys think PTI will do with the extras? Ebay? flash sale day of SAF? Eat the cost and make their own merit badge sashes with all the warehouse folks?

    ReplyDelete
  148. I think they'll give them away that day as prizes for something. But - I think they'll pull the stamp set, die and paper from them before they give them away.

    ReplyDelete
  149. Check out the craptastical coverage on this vase:

  150. I wonder how fast Nichole will ignore this post. Or maybe she will respond in her typical snippy fashion: http://forum.papertreyink.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=36991

for those who don't go to the forum, here is what it says:

Nicole I hope you can answer this because I am not sure what to do.

I always order on release night so I don't "miss" anything but now I like to wait untill the 21st so I can get the SAF set. Will there be a bigger stock this month so most of the items are for sale the 21st or is the stock the same as every month?

    end quote

Lines form here for betting. "Snippy response" bets, to the left, please have your cash ready. "Totally ignored" bets to the right, cash in hand.

    ReplyDelete
  151. she responded already :
Unfortunately, there isn't really any way to "predict" how much inventory would be "over-ordering" for any particular item because the popularity of any single thing is a total gamble until the orders start coming in. We have prepared to the best of our abilities for all of the new items becoming available for sale on release night. Any dies that sell out that night or the week leading up to SAF will not be restocked in time for the SAF promotional period because of a bare minimum of a 2-week turnaround time from our manufacturer, although it usually run 3-4 weeks. Stamps, if we push our manufacturer quite hard, can sometimes be back in stock within a week and we might be able to restock those in time for the promotion. Hope that helps! :)

    ReplyDelete
  152. Or have a crappy release and there should be p.l.e.n.t.y. of inventory available.

    ReplyDelete
  153. I think Nicole's response is reasonable. I,too, see it as a gamble. No one can exactly predict how things will sell. They have made improvements in stock over the past few months.

    ReplyDelete
  154. Wow. Not snippy and not ignored.

    ReplyDelete
  155. Sounds to me like she's hoping people will place two orders this month.

    ReplyDelete
  156. Of course they are hoping for 2 orders this month! Hello people!!! This whole out of stock because we can't predict demand crap has been part of their marketing strategy from the beginning!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  157. Let's dangle a free EXCLUSIVE stamp set in front of the peons. But let's do it one week after a release. And let's not be prepared with enough stock so that they HAVE to order twice. WIN WIN WIN PTI Style.

    ReplyDelete
  158. I f*cking hate it when sausage fingers ends her responses with "hope that helps"!!! It's like nails on a chalkboard!

    ReplyDelete
  159. No, I think this vase is supposed to look crackled.

    ttp://2.bp.blogspot.com/-oM6w5NNqzNc/T_uVYlLbeQI/AAAAAAAAFQY/9nMmb_0k64k/s1600/DSC_0698E.jpg

    ReplyDelete
  160. 16:21, I don't know whether or not there is supposed to be a crackled effect there, but Maile definitely doesn't say anything about that in her post here: http://mailebelles.blogspot.com/2012/07/mega-gracious-vases-day-two.html.

If you click on either of the first two photos to enlarge them, you can see the lousy coverage from each of the inks she used. I'd love to have ink to match some of the PTI colors, but I'm not going to spend money on this edition! Sometime in the next few months I'll be combing the posts here and on the forum for the best matches with Fresh and Amuse inks.

    ReplyDelete
  161. I've been saying this since I started buying at PTI. They don't order enough stock on purpose.
    1. They create hype and because of things selling out people will impulse buy on release night.
    2. People who miss things they want place extra orders + other stuff just to make it the the free shipping amounts.

Other places do it too - like Studio Calico. They KNOW how many subscribers they have and sell out of their add-ons in about 2 minutes. They want this to happen so people sign up as a member to get exclusive 'buy the add-ons'.

Yes, the two situations are different but with the same basic philosophy.
Create hype, don't have enough stock and make customers frenzy over things and place multiple orders.

    ReplyDelete
  162. They want to increase intense impulse buying.

    ReplyDelete
  163. Which is the exact reason why I have my order planned out. And, really, I'm thinking of ordering my felt from Etsy since my cart with $170 worth of shit dumped. I'm not going to fill it up again. Hell, I might just get Lovely Layers and some cardstock and forget about the rest.

    ReplyDelete
  164. My cart is still dumping too. Months of complaining about this and no solution tells me they really don't want my business.

    ReplyDelete
  165. This is a novel idea - why didn't they have SAF on the 15th. Oh wait, that would only be a single sale for the month.
Then, plan B, could have been to have SAF half-way between releases instead of 6 days after a release. At least there might be a chance to get items back in stock.
    Their planning is really weird.

    ReplyDelete
  166. What is the point of typing f*cking?? Why not just type the whole word? Does the asterisk make the word less foul or something?

    ReplyDelete
  167. On a non-PTI note... How can Lauren Meader copyright a word like 'thankful' or any of the other names of her stamp sets? http://mytimemadeeasy.com/store/
Does her putting a (c) symbol behind the name make her think nobody else can ever name their stamp sets the same as hers? Isn't that the purpose of the symbol? Or am I seriously way off?

    ReplyDelete
  168. ^^^ OMG... Just noticed she has copyrighted everything in her store... Perfect package.... Pretty paper packs.... Etc. those are common phrases. Is she going to sue everyone who says or types those words in that order?!?!?

    ReplyDelete
  169. ^^There's another one who takes entirely too many unnecessary photos of her work. Can't read her blog, drives me flockin' nutty.

    ReplyDelete
  170. 21:48. Lauren is the queen of snippy in my book!!! I asked her a question once about one of her cut files and she was very snotty

    ReplyDelete
  171. Lauren has always had the copyright symbol next to her stamp sets. I don't see what the big deal is.

I emailed her once, right after she left PTI, and she was definitely peeved at PTI. Another one who left on bad terms.

    Shocking, I know.

    ReplyDelete
  172. Anyone remember AmyR? Did she leave on bad terms too?

I keep thinking about Lisa J. MFT's newsletter says it's been months in the works so to speak. Months??? Um, she was still with PTI when she said yes to another company? I hope not, because that would put her a notch or two down in my book. (sad face)

    ReplyDelete
  173. Why? Do you also look down on people who look for another job before giving notice at their current job? If designing stamps is a needed source of income, I would actually see it as foolhardy to leave one gig before having another lined up.

    ReplyDelete
  174. Hey! Maybe the point behind the smokey shadow ink is that it actually is black ink that gives such crappy coverage that it looks grey.

    ReplyDelete
  175. Also on LM's site, notice that her clear stamps are Acrylic. That's pretty cheap stuff.

    ReplyDelete
  176. The Smokey Shadow vases on Maile's cards today look really dreadful.
Is the vase supposed to be a 'mottled' type of vase, or is it just awful ink coverage????
And Dawn's green roses are downright scary.

    ReplyDelete
  177. Dawn's green card makes.me.want.to.vomit.

    ReplyDelete
  178. Ohhhhh, I gotta have that rose set.

    ReplyDelete
  179. yeah I love those roses, besides Dawn's vomit card

    ReplyDelete
  180. Off to see the vomit card... Lol

    ReplyDelete
  181. 4:37. If Lisa J had a contract with PTI that was set to expire of course she would have something lined up before her term ended. She obviously knew her time with PTI was done well before her contract ended and started looking elsewhere for her next gig. Perfectly reasonable in my book. If I knew I was quitting my job stands to reason I would have something else lined up right away.

    ReplyDelete
  182. Ew, that card was vomit inducing! Sorry Dawn.

Didn't someone mention that there is other stamp companies with a similar stamp set of the roses? Could you mention them again. Thx!

    ReplyDelete
  183. All of the copyright symbols on Lauren's site are distracting, but I seem to remember that Lauren had a design copied several years back with no credit given to her. I would guess she is just trying to protect herself (but maybe over killing a little bit with the (c)

    ReplyDelete
  184. Not smacking on the someone who said the vases are possibly supposed to look splotchy, but are the roses supposed to look splotchy too?

    3rd and 4th photos:

    http://mailebelles.blogspot.com/2012/07/mega-gracious-vases-day-three.html

    HTH!

    ReplyDelete
  185. So, in reference to the Sweet Life set, Dawn says, "new stamp set being introduced to you today, over at Nichole Heady's blog. It's a set that she designed herself and I absolutely adore it!!"

Those roses definitely look like something that would be found at the stock images site that was discussed the other day. I have to admit that I'm looking forward to someone finding them there and proving this "designed it herself" statement to be nonsense.

    ReplyDelete
  186. Oh yes, it's that highly sought after crackle-finish rose. Completely intentional.

    ReplyDelete
  187. Dawn's green roses made me throw up in my mouth a little.

    ReplyDelete
  188. I have the SU Stippled Blossoms and I like them better than the PTI set--cheaper too. Also the Kitchen Sink roses are way gorgeous!

    ReplyDelete
  189. Dawn's first card - LOVE

Dawn's second card - makes me think ol' Bartley is color blind so she doesn't care what colors she uses on cards she's giving him.

Dawn's third card - is horrible. that big ass ugly button is the wrong size. the 2 colors of ink makes me think the first one was a mistake so she used black and really should have redone that sentiment strip but was too lazy. Not her typical clean work.

Dawn, just because you CAN throw 2 shades of green together doesn't mean you SHOULD. And no, even the rule of 3rds cannot polish that turd.

    ReplyDelete
  190. You can't tell me that PTI doesn't read here. Dawn has changed her color combinations lately (though I agree that the green roses are awful). Nichole has toned down the gushy "I'm so fabulous" language. Now if they'll just fix the web site and the customer service.

Here are 3 blog samples of how someone used the Stampin' Up Stippled Blossom Roses.

    ReplyDelete
  192. At least Heather found out today that there are more colors than greens and browns.

    ReplyDelete
  193. ^^^ I actually loved her dino train layout. And happy to see other non-neutral colors as well.

    ReplyDelete
  194. I agree, you CAN do similar things with SU's stippled blossoms but PTI's set has a more modern look to it. And I don't particularly care for either set, but if I had to buy one (at gunpoint) it would probably be the PTI version.

    ReplyDelete
  195. I actually think the PTI set is more old fashioned looking. I think the SU set is more versatile.

    ReplyDelete
  196. Lauren Meader's stamps are the same quality as PTI's. I had a few but sold them. Not my taste.

LisaJ definitely knew she was going to leave PTI. Personally, I think it was around mid-March. That's when the DT was pm'ing forum people about issues and it was a huge mess. I got one from her and she seemed very distracted, or frazzled, and never resolved my issue. Also, if you look at her blog, her enthusiasm goes down from then on. I'm happy for her. And admire her for getting a better job.

    ReplyDelete
  197. Why doesn't that ruby stamper allow comments? Afraid of haters commenting? Hmmm...hypocritical much?

    ReplyDelete
  198. Yes, RubyStamper had someone from SCS that would fill her comments with nasty stuff. She does give an email address so you can email her and she always replies!

    ReplyDelete
  199. 4:37 here. Well, if you look at it as a job that would make sense. I was thinking of stamping as a hobby first and if you get offers to make money on the side that's a bonus. I guess I got caught up with all the talk of integrity and so on... I was placing Lisa on a pedestal and to hear that another job (offer) has been going on for months...
Don't get me wrong, I'm happy for her to get another job but I think um, it looked like disloyal to me. That's just me. I hope I am making sense.
