PTI Smacker, why did you decide to not put the ads on the blog to donate to the animals? I think it is a great idea!

  2. Please no ads ...

because people will inevitably think I'm taking money for myself when I'm not :) for now i'll donate my own money to the animals. please consider putting a few dollars to a local no-kill shelter in your region too!

  4. I don't care if you put ads up, and I don't care if you keep the money for yourself!

    200 comments works for me.

  5. I hope this blog doesn't get all hand-slappy. I honestly didn't think the questions about ted were that bad. I don't think anyone really cares whether he's married or not, it was just a question. And anyone who thinks its "bullying" him to ask if he's married, gay, straight, whatever, probably has some pretty ugly biases.

  6. Going back to the FB profiles... Has anyone noticed that Jane's says:

    Jane Heskamp
    Works at Papertrey Ink.com

    And Nicholes:

    Nichole Heady
Worked at Papertrey Ink (Owner/Graphic Designer)

Maybe it doesn't mean a thing, but I wonder why the past tense...
    ------------------------------

It means that Nichole forgot to check the box in that part of her profile that says "I currently work there". That's all.

  7. Maybe they wouldn't be so backlogged with emails and cs issues if the person who is so on top of deleting forum and facebook postings is doing those other things instead ??!!

  12. I just found this place by doing a search. You all are cracking me up. Saying the things I have always wished I could post on the forum.
I have a question that has probably already been posted. Why did Mish leave the DT? Does anyone know the real reason? I always thought it was strange how she said she wanted to spend more time with her family but then joined another DT a few days later. Just curious.

    ReplyDelete
  13. I am convinced that Mish got an email from Becky Higgins asking her to join the Project Life design team just BEFORE telling Nichole that she wanted to spend time with her family. On November 1st she posted this blog post

    http://michellewooderson.blogspot.com/2011/11/changes.html

which says that life is short, blah, blah blah and in it she says
"Soooo, keep watching for my Papertrey projects. Stay tuned for more fun Etsy items in the future. I've also had an exciting and unexpected surprise come my way in the last few days that I will share with you soon."

She stepped down from Papertrey because something better came along. I don't blame her for jumping the PTI ship but the way that she did it was scummy.

  14. http://michellewooderson.blogspot.com/2011/11/project-life-creative-team.html

From her November 14th announcement -
"I was totally engrossed in the project when an email chimed on my computer. It was from Becky Higgins asking me if I'd like to join the Project Life Creative Team. A big smile came upon my face and I thought to myself, "How awesome is this?" I've been asked to be an integral part of something I am really passionate about. Then I stopped mid-email and thought, "What I am thinking, I just let go of a lot of work responsibilities. Am I nuts to take on more?" But then I read the rest of Becky's email and I knew this was for me. My responsibilities involve creating Project Life pages....simple as that....something I've been doing and am planning on doing for a long time to come. It was very easy for me to say YES!"

    I call bullshit.

    ReplyDelete
  15. I agree. It all smells fishy.

    ReplyDelete
  16. You can't blame Mish for jumping off the sinking ship.

    ReplyDelete
  17. I just saw on eBay where somebody is selling the new anniversary set. Didn't that set cost them $600 in purchases? This does not make sense to me.

    ------------------------------

What doesn't make sense? I got my anniversary set already but have enough rewards points right now to get up to 3 more. I've considered getting them to sell, either on the forum or on eBay.

    ReplyDelete
  19. I suppose if you have that many points you might as well use them to make a few bucks instead of getting more supplies.

    ReplyDelete
  20. She stepped down from Papertrey because something better came along. I don't blame her for jumping the PTI ship but the way that she did it was scummy.

    ^^^ this

    ReplyDelete
  21. But how else was Mish going to do it? Say to everyone, PTI is a sinking ship and I'm jumping???

I'm sure it's not smart to burn bridges in that industry. Who is to say you have to stay on a DT for life?

Personally she's the smartest one- she left ! lol

    ReplyDelete
  22. I just think that she lied by saying that she wanted to spend more time with family even though she had already accepted the Becky Higgins gig.
She could have said that she had been presented with this wonderful opportunity and that there simply wasn't enough time to fully devote to 2 dt's. Ya know, she could have been honest and still not burned bridges.

    ReplyDelete
  23. PTI chevrons or Lawn Fawn's?

  24. WTF -

So they're telling me that their system allows a cc to be processed with incorrect info (and they are aware of it, condone it, and suggest it)????

Correct me if I'm wrong, but shouldn't the system be pinging the bank to verify the card information is correct? Any reputable and secure system would kick that back for fraud. I find this to be a huge security risk. Maybe they have checks on the other card information, but with a gaping hole like this, how do I know that? How can I be sure? Combine this with the security risk pages that I was getting when the new site went live and I just don't trust their shopping cart software anymore. I will not be shopping online with them anymore, I just won't risk it. This seems like a huge miss to me.

  25. She was already doing project life before she was asked to be on the DT. I don't really see what the big deal is because if she was already doung the project then it's not taking her that much more time.
I also remember something she posted about the PL being something she wanted to focus on for her family as well. I'm sure she and her family will get more satisfaction from a completed PL than a box full if cards she had to stamp for a DT.
    I wish her well!

  26. Wow! That credit card issue is strange. I wonder what they are doing to fix it? If anything.....

Oh GEEZ grow up! Like this has never happened before? LOL. This is WHAT people do. Nobody leaves a team without saying they are leaving due to family constraints.

As for burning bridges? Mish can be on any team, any where, for anyone at any time. Her "burnt bridge" is stronger than most have on their best day.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Fix? You expect PTI to fix anything? Ha!

I think what happens is it gets processed with the wrong date, the vendor gets notified that it isn't correct. When they look at the order they can see the comment about the date and they then correct it and resend it. So the customer doesn't really have to do anything. I don't think it is the cc processing that is messed up, I think it is their cart in their store. The date must be wrong somewhere in their system so it is dinging all the 2012 dates as expired.

    ReplyDelete
  29. The only big deal about Mish is that she lied about when the email actually came in. She could have said that she wanted to concentrate on PL and therefore she was going on Team Lite for Papertrey. Instead, she came up with some bullshit story.

I personally don't care what she does but that fact that she lied about her motives goes to her credibility.

Wow, I'm impressed that you are privy to Mish's emails! How is it exactly that you KNOW when the email came in? Or that she had not been contemplating a diminished role with PTI BEFORE the email arrived?

It is JUST POSSIBLE that she thinks and discusses things with her husband, family, even Nichole, before they become public knowledge, you know. But hey, nice to call into question someone's truthfulness, based on your own unfounded ASSumptions.

    ReplyDelete
  32. I don't know if she lied or not and I don't care! I still stand by what I said - she's smart to have left PTI!

Above poster makes a good point - all the work she does for DTs - better with PL albums than millions of cards.

Yeah, it's called a White Lie and is designed to save face for both parties involved. It's actually preferred to blaring the truth all over the internet. Most reputable designers don't tell the REAL reason they leave teams and everyone knows it.

Clearly you are not, or have ever been on a DT.

We are both in CS right now answering questions, so we will be getting to you asap. Thanks!!

We are BOTH? I do hope that she is joking.

    ReplyDelete
  36. 11:49 What is so surprising about BOTH? I mean, we all know that only one incompetent person is dealing with the carnage of the emails. It's the PTI way.

    ReplyDelete
  37. I hate the thumbnails on the new website! You used to be able to click on "images" and see a whole page of stamps with enough clarity to tell what they actually are. The new website is awful!

Seriously, who designed it and why did it take 4 years!??

I've tried to contact your company repeatedly and never seem to be able to get a response. So, I'm taking to your forums since you seem to respond to that and not emails.

I have an issue with Order 200759. I was told to place information regarding a gift certificate for your company into the comments section while placing my order and that it would be taken care of. Obviously, it was not, otherwise I would not be contacting you.

Please let me know how I can get the gift certificate credited. Please do not ask me to use it on another order, as I do not wish to order from your company again due to the tremendously horrible customer service and continuous website issues. If I do not receive a response by 5p central time on Monday, March 5, I will be forced to contact my credit card company and dispute the charges from your company.

Have you been receiving our email newsletters? If you haven't signed up for it, I would suggest doing so, as it explains the backlog in CS right now. Your email will be responded to in the order in which it was received.

Ah, your typical passive-aggressive-rub-salt-into the wounds-vague-and terribly unhelpful Jenn response.

She doesn't give a shit about your fucking newsletter or that she's last in line, meaning it will be three months at the earliest before she gets a response. LOL, she's cancelling the charges with her CC on Monday you doofus.

This is a perfect example of how redundant this role of Jenns is. She doesn't serve any purpose and just takes a shitty situation and makes it worse. She's actually worse than redundant, since she's actively irritating to the already pissed off customers.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Jennifer's "answer" to the lady that wanted her gift card credited is priceless.

The perfect illustration of her impotence and passive-aggressiveness. The perfect illustration of PTI's lack of concern for their customers and their inquiries.

All the time that Jennifer spends "answering" questions is useless. Sure, they're going through emails, but they're not actually ANSWERING ANY MOTHER EFFING QUESTIONS.

    Don't they get that?

In a real company, customer service is able to punch an order number into a computer and can see exactly what is going on with an account. Rather than spending 10 minutes providing non-answers, Jennifer could spend 1 or 2 minutes researching and providing REAL INFORMATION to people.

We own a real mom and pop business (we employ ourselves and 3 other people) and even our computer system is sophisticated enough to handle inquiries efficiently.

I have a couple hundred rewards points to use and then I am done with PTI. Just waiting for those damn zipper dies to come back in stock.

    ReplyDelete
  44. It's always the dies.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Yea, Jenn, although that customer was kinda bitchy, she has an inherent right to do that AS THE CUSTOMER. You, my friend (figuratively speaking), do not have the right to return said bitchiness toward aforementioned customer.

    Class adjourned.

    ReplyDelete
  46. No kiding, 13:53.

Just when I think I'm done....the dies pull me back in!

    ReplyDelete
  47. I feel the most sorry for the people that are new to Papertrey and have the expectation that they will be able to order without problems.

These are the people that don't visit the forums until they start to wonder where their order is or why they couldn't order in the first place. They register only to find out that every second person has had an issue and that customer service is weeks behind.

At least I know enough not to order. :-(

    ReplyDelete
  48. It speaks volumes that nobody is even calling Jenn on her bitchiness. Most people have just given up beating the dead horse.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Seriously now, I know we would like to think that PTI read here, but do you think they actually do?

Everything is such a knee jerk reaction to any given problem, I just can't believe that they don't appear to be taking any of this seriously enough.

13:35 and 13:40 - great posts, I agree entirely. How can PTI not see that her brand of 'customer service' is actually hurting them instead of helping? They need to call time on her 'communications role' toot de suite!

    ReplyDelete
  50. I remember during the Karen fiasco reading Julie's email and wondering how a company owner could actually speak to a customer like that. When Karen posted her infamous "attention Nichole" thread, I fully expected that Nichole would be horrified at Karen's treatment but instead, Nichole posted something like "I'm sorry that you feel The way that you've been treated is wrong" or some such nonsense. Does anyone remember the wording?

They won't get rid of Jenn because they talk to customers exactly the same way.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Seeing that email and Nichole's response was exactly the moment I stopped giving any of the owners the benefit of the doubt.

The way they spoke to her was disgusting and clearly commonplace for them.

  52. Papertrey Ink could solve a great deal of its problems with a little bit of organization and a lot of elbow grease.

Julie, Jane and Nichole need to get off their asses and personally help sift through emails since they obviously don't want to hire anyone to do it.

One person should be in charge of sorting emails and forwarding them to the appropriate party and the other 4 people should be in charge of resolving specific issues. Each person should have the authority to do what it takes to fix the issue at hand.

Of course, I have common sense and understand that being a business owner means that I still have to work really, really hard. My husband and I would love to build our own home and hope to do it someday. Today, though, our dollars are better invested in our business.

Can I come to PTI and conduct some management training? I'd take my pay in craft supplies....

  54. If I was a customer that was STILL waiting on anniversary sets, I would contact the BBB. Enough of this e-mailing back and forth bullshit. Enough empty promises. Enough waiting around for PTI to answer their fucking e-mails. I would file a complaint, and request the BBB take care of this issue for me.

I would also contact the BBB regarding the gift certificate issue as well. I'm sorry, but having to wait WEEKS for e-mails to be answered is complete crap. Jenn, Nichole, and the whole PTI team needs to realize that. They cannot let this backlog of issues continue. If they are only through e-mails received on the 20th or 21st, by the time the *next* release rolls around, they are going to be even more behind. I'm honestly shocked that PTI let this mess get so out of hand. I realize they don't have great customer service, but I never thought they would essentially give their customers the finger.

    Here is PTI's stamp:

  58. Thanks for the link re MFP, 18:30. Looks like someone got caught stealing images. Faith's response seems to be way over the edge. If all that were indeed happening to her, why the f is she posting it?

A graphics artist friend of mine told me many of the PTI images are free online clip art. Makes me less "in awe" of the great NH's talent. ;)

    ReplyDelete
  59. I just read Faith's response on page 4 and I haven't followed any of the story.

Can anybody tell me what a "registered agent" is? Her post didn't really answer any of the accusations earlier in the thread.

    ReplyDelete
  60. A registered agent is required for businesses. It's a person or company who will always be available during regular business hours to accept mail or documents for the company. It's the official business address for registered mail, tax forms, and things like that. Costs about $100 or so per year to sign up with one. You can be your own registered agent, but it's not recommended.

    ReplyDelete
  61. Does anyone have a copy of Nichole's response to Karen on the now defunct "ask the Papertrey team" forum? The one where she starts off "I'm sorry that you feel the manner in which ....." ?

It was posted on the original PTI smack board which has been removed.

  62. Can the March release really be postponed?

I mean we all know that it won't be but would it even be possible? The stamps have already been produced so they can't just not release them.

Responding to customer service issues via a newsletter is NOT a form of good customer service. Please be aware, the term "customer service" is loosely used here.

    1. Customers with issues (problems) email customer service and hear nothing and their issues are not resolved.
    2. Customers with issues finally receive an automated customer service email response but their issues are not resolved.
    3. Customers with issues finally receive an email from a customer service person , are told their issues will be resolved, and then their issues are not resolved.
    4. Customers with issues post on the forum because of SEE #1, #2 and #3 and are told that personal issues are not dealt with on the forum due to "privacy" issues and their issues are not resolved.
    5. Customers with issues are admonished by customer service because they aired their frustration on the forum about their unresolved issues and still their issues are not resolved.
    6. Customers with issues have no dedicated forum category to ask questions, inquire on issues or to air their issues with customer service so other forum members get angry that the forum is being used to air complaints and issues but their issues are not resolved.

Can someone PLEASE tell me exactly what a customer with issues that are not resolved is supposed to do?

And please, CUSTOMER SERVICE, to not delete this thread because it does not meet the parameters set forth regarding the subject of forum posts that are interpreted to be negative.

I just want my issue resolved. Then I promise I will go away and not only never post a "negative" post again but to never to do business with PTI again. And, by the way, I cancelled my subscription to the newsletter because I am frustrated and angry that the company can spend time glorifying themselves on the newsletter but CANNOT RESOLVE MY ISSUE.
    Thank you,
    dbm

I'm not a techie so I don't know if they used any coding from there?

  75. The amount of time and energy those ladies spent digging up stuff on that Faith person is disgusting. People need to get lives and find a better way to spend their time.

Amuse inks make PTI ink look like some crap ink you'd buy at the dollar general in the year old clearance bin. No comparison.

That larkspur image is super similar. Doesn't mean PTI's use of it was illegal. PTI uses clipart and font SO often. I find their stuff out and about all the time. No new news there.

  76. I thougt Faith had said purchasing clip art images was not unusual for stamp companies. Possibly the case with the larkspur?

  77. Re: Lilly Belles Paperie

Great stuff... too bad it's $2 more for the same number of sheets as PTI. Not loving that. :(

    ReplyDelete
  78. ^^^ Woops. I misread - effin confusing ass PTI thumbnails.

Same price for 24 sheets. of card stock. It's 100lb cs and not 110lb, but I don't care... giving them a try.

  79. Re: Lilly Belles

I would order through their etsy store and not their website - the shipping estimate I got this morning was $7 less to go through etsy.

I think I'm going to try them too!

  83. Fresh Inks from Impress are the same formulation as Amuse and are wonderful. Really saturated shades and the colors are beautiful.

  84. The web page source code looks like it might be created with Dreamweaver, which is a web page creation software that can be used in a design mode for those who don't have a lot of experience, or it could be used by someone with more skill as well in the more advanced modes.

I only say that because some of coding looks like what I have seen in Dreamweaver, but I'm not familiar with other programs, so they might use some of the same way of setting things up.

W3 is a the World Wide Web consortium, a group that tries to keep web standards & code, well, standard.

    ReplyDelete
  85. HTML, Java, JavaScript, etc. Are alll markup languages. The program used to write the code is irrelevant, whether it's Dreamweaver, Frontpage, Visual Studio, or even Notepad if your an expert and know how. What really matters is the person writing the code and building the website. A great developer can build a powerful website that is hideous and no one can use. A great designer can build a beautiful website that doesn't function. You can't have one without the other. You need a skilled developer to code, a great designer to design it, and a User Experience Designer to make sure it's usable and organized. If you can't find (or afford) all three, find one and use an ecommerce software solution. There are plenty of great ones out there that have all of the coding already figured out. A good web designer would be able to customize it for you and do code tweaks.

Finally you need to TEST it. Both positive and negative testing. Use scripts for positive scenario testing and then go in and purposely try to "break" it to find the gaps.

It is painfully obvious PTI was either too cheap or too lazy to take this seriously. This is people's money you are playing with.

Sorry for the in depth explanation, hopefully I didn't bore you.

And yes the W3 is to keep coding standard so you can have a consistent code base and user experience across all browsers.

  86. Fresh Ink from Impress is made by the same company as A Muse, but IMO the colors are even nicer.Best ink I have ever used.

  87. I agree; I love the Fresh Inks.

  88. 12:36, thank you for that info on website creation. You gave us a very good insight in this!

It is sad to see what could have been a great site look and act so terrible and that goes for the owners as well.

  89. has anyone seen any stamped "swatches" of the amuse inks online somewhere - I'd like to order a few but it's hard to tell what the stamped color will be from the swatches on their website.

    ReplyDelete
  90. I'd like to see some fresh ink swatches as Amuse won't ship to me :(

  93. So do you think they are going to keep that crap website? I haven't seen any changes in weeks.

    ReplyDelete
  94. I much prefer the old website. I really don't see any improvement whatsoever in the new one.

  95. It seems Jenn is never around that board on weekends. Does anyone else think it is completely crazy that they are so backlogged and yet apparently staff are treating it as business as usual? And no, I don't expect someone to work 24/7 however, in most workplaces I've been, when you had a crisis you went into well....crisis mode. That meant extra hours until things got sorted. I just can't over how fucking blase they are about everything.

At the very least, give the customers the IMPRESSION you are pulling out all the stops, even if you are actually sat nibbling bon bons with your feet up on the couch. wow, just wow, as they say. O:

    ReplyDelete
  96. 12:36, you make great points. I think that the organization and user experience perspective is lacking in many web sites, PTI's included. It has become easier for more people to make do it yourself sites and while they might be functional they are not exactly good.

I guess PTI's isn't even functional at this point, with the errors and all, it isn't even doing the minimum a store site should, let alone being easy to use.

  98. I don't think they'll change the website back to what it was. But they should do some major overhauling... they are STUPID if they don't - since they're so greedy they should realize that if it's too hard for navigate, people aren't going to make purchases - sure the diehard PTI fans who have everything will still be able to purchase the new releases because they're on the front page - but someone new to PTI is going to have a hell of a time finding anything appealing on their site. There is no sensible, visually appealing way to "browse" what they have available. If they tried to cut corners by having Rick or some random person design their site, they're screwing themselves in the end with all the business they are gonna lose.

  102. The website will definitely discourage new customers since you can't easily browse. You have to know what you want to buy.

    From SkyNacho -
If you JUST joined their forum, they had recently enacted spam controls so your first five posts or something have to be approved before they will automatically post, so that might be why yours haven't posted.

Wow. I did not hear about this (my forum ID has been active for several years). Seriously...wow. The customers are so angry...

  105. B.Actuarial Your next step would be to look for childrens modeling agencies in your area. The bigger the town you live in, the chances you will find more modeling agencies. Make sure you do some research on all prospective modeling agencies. A modeling agency should not charge you any money for them to sign up your child; this typically means that they are an unscrupulous agency. Find out what careers they have launched and look through their model base. Big agencies may be well known but smaller agencies may give your child more personalized attention. You should decide what would work better for your child. No, this doesn't involve using scented paper with a jungle leaf border... but the formatting and layout should be appealing to the eye. This means: David Beckham ($29.1 million, salary + endorsement deals) no presentation required, Beckham is more than just a soccer players for close to a decade now. His recent move to LA Galaxy from Real Madrid for an impressive transfer fee was well worth it, since American finance analysts agreed that the transfer would soon turn to profit, as Beckham shirt sales and other endorsements would soon earn the club their money back.
